Very welcoming hospitality - staff are wonderfully attentive and exceptional breakfasts over a 3 night stay. Location is great with views from our large balcony overlooking the mountain and cable car. Supermarket Coop just a street away. Afternoon drink in the lobby beside the library and fireplace is a lovely feature as are the CD’s we could borrow for the Bose speaker to play in our room. Washing machine in common laundry is very convenient. Rooms are not super modern but are still well appointed . Ours was in very good condition and very clean .

We liked everything

We had welcome drinks - free flow of wine and coffee. We were really impressed and grateful for the service. There was also complementary pudding for dessert. The room was huge with a living area and kitchenette. Amazed at the great sound system and you could take CDs from their library to play in your room. We felt so pampered! Breakfast was excellent - delicious and well balanced. First day was Japanese and second day was western fusion. So nice to start the day with a view of Mt Hakodate.

Not the fault of the hotel but they are on a slope and it was icy in winter. Be careful not to slip and fall when walking.

Exceptional experience. Large kitchen suite with what appears to be hand built stereo speakers and tube amp, DVD player w extensive cd and dvd collections. Would like to meet the person responsible for such a big investment in the stereos. Adjacent to Mt Hakodate 'Ropeway' and the many sites in Motomachi. Breakfasts were exquisite w many courses/ taste experiences. Also, cooler here than Sapporo in summer.

Departing

The experience here is the perfect example of the Japanese concept of "omotenashi", where it is the goal is to provide hospitality not for any other reason but to ensure the guest's well-being. You always had the feeling you were being taken care of without excess or intrusiveness.

Wifi in the room was sometimes a bit unreliable (sites not loading or taking too long to load).

A very nice and well maintained mansion style hotel full of warm and welcoming details. 10-minute walk away to the famous local ropeway to mountain top where the birds-eye view is stunning. Bay Area and some famous historical sites are easily reachable. I especially like the CD collection displayed in the lobby of classy jazz or bossanova music. Breakfast is delicious and well presented. Wish all the best to all the staff and the master of this hotel.

A lovely, cosy boutique hotel. Very friendly staff with exceptional, Japanese standard hospitality. We stayed for 3 nights and the two bedroom suite was huge. There was a beautiful vacuum tube amplifier in the living room with great speakers. The hotel had a lovely collection of CDs, books and free drinks in their lobby. Our room came with breakfast and each morning we had a chef make a whole selection of either Japanese or Western inspired dishes. The hotel is very near the Jujigai tram stop and you can walk to the ropeway. All in all, an exceptional experience.

No complaints.

These people walk the extra mile for their guests. The room was fantastic, even with a stereophile worthy super stereo and a full set for making hand brewed freshly ground coffee. Nice beds and duvets. Free drinks, incl wine, in the lobby. They really do their best to make their guests feel special, at a reasonable price. The breakfast was huge and really really delicious.

What I loved about Villa Concordia was their ambiance. It was relaxing and close to many attractions around Hakodate. If you’re an early riser, waking up to run along the pier is very beautiful. Or if you like to run hills, the trek up to Mount Hakodate isn’t far either. I loved the attention to detail the workers there have. Before the stay, I’ve had a quick chat with them and the man welcoming us into the hotel had it printed and reviewed the chat with us. There was even a welcome drink and a welcome dessert. Aside from that, all the staff was warm and welcoming. Their hospitality is something that I’ll remember for a long time. I hope I’ll be welcomed to stay the next time we are able to visit Hokkaido!

The only thing I can think of was not having key cards to get in and out of the hotel. For my last day, I woke up extra early to walk/jog before we checked out but was unable to get back inside ( I’m not sure if the staff was there, I didn’t want to wake anyone up. That’s purely on me.) until my husband opened the door. But aside from that, zero complaints!

We think that the breakfast was amazing in terms of quantity, quality and presentation. Breakfast came as a set meal, alternating between western and Japanese food. Both were delicious. The staff were very helpful, polite and hospitable. The hotel has a homely vibe with lots of books, cds at the lounge area. Our room was equipped with a good cd player and a coffee beans grinder.

Nothing

Loved the breakfast. The coffee in the room was fabulous. The free wine and drinks in the evening was a great surprise!

However, there should be some a la carte options available for lunch and dinner. Especially for guests who arrive late. Or else one has to step out even though one is tired after a long journey.
