What a great Hotel. Stayed one night for a weekend Golf trip. Lynne met us in reception got us booked in, took our Golf trolley batteries and charged them up for us ready for the next days play. Terry served us some nice beers in the bar at the Hotel, and pointed us in the right direction of where to go in Dumfries that night. The rooms were fantastic, spotlessly clean and the most powerful shower ! The breakfast in the morning was excellent, very tasty and all the choice you could want. Terry and Lynne couldn't be more helpful, the Hotel was brilliant and the lads already want me to sort out a trip for next year. Thanks to Lynne and Terry and the staff for making our stay in Dumfries a good one.

There isn't anything not to like about The Hill Hotel, great location, well run, wonderful rooms at a great price, I would thoroughly recommend them for a stay in Dumfries.

Terry and Lynne Hawkins were great hosts and very welcoming. The location is an easy walk to downtown Dumfries. The hotel is on a spacious lot with an on-site pub and outside seating areas. Beds were comfortable; breakfast was delicious. The hotel is spotless and comfortable in every way. Hosts stop to chat during breakfast or whenever they see you out and about. Ample on-site parking. We were made to feel right at home. Lynne even gave us advice on visiting the local library for help with our geneology search.

The hotel is Ideal for a visit to Dumphries. It's got a good carpark & a lovely exterior. We were given a warm welcome by the hosts. Our room was a comfortable double at the front of the house. There's no views here but we weren't bothered as it was only an overnight pit stop. The room was very well equipped with hair dryer, ear plugs, brew making facilities, bath robes, boot tray and was immaculately clean. Unlike other hotels I was pleasantly surprised that there were power points next to both mirrors for hair styling. The bathroom was a small shower room, fully equipped with room spray, shower caps, cotton wool pads. The decor is in keeping with the age of the building which we liked, tartan carpets, tartan wall paper. It has a bar but we didn't use it. Breakfast was outstanding and the personal attention by the hosts is fantastic. I'd highly recommend it and would use again.

The Hill Hotel is a lovely place to stay. From the moment you walk through the doors you are made to feel welcome. Terry, the host is very helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. Nothing is too much trouble. The room was lovely and spacious. Breakfast is a combination of cooked, continental or both. Lovely choices to suit all tastes. The Hill has a bar facility, also with plenty of choice of drinks. Would recommend the Hill Hotel to family and friends. Most definitely a lovely place to stay.

Fabulous place to stay, highly recommend. The owners Terry & Lynn were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely, and spacious along with really big shower room. Bed really comfortable. Whole place was spotless. Lynn cooked a mean breakfast and poached eggs were perfect.

Was really looking forward to my shower in the lovely modern shower room but unfortunately I couldn’t get the temperature to regulate. Although I mentioned this to Terry on checkout and he said he would look at it so I’m sure it will be ok in future. I gave to add it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of my stay.

I was most impressed with the variety of food for the breakfast I am Gluten and Dairy free and was so happy with the variety .The rooms were very well decorated and the bed so comfy and very well situated near the Train station and the venue I needed to get too. Lastly both of the staff were so hospitable, friendly and nothing was too much trouble perfect hosts . Thank you

Clean and inviting. Comfortable beds. Large rooms. The host, Terry, was knowledgeable about the area and very friendly. Breakfast was excellent!

The trash had not been taken out of the bedroom before we arrived, but I’m sure it was just an oversight because everything else was extremely clean and well-maintained.

The host and hostess are the nicest people. Very warm and friendly and eager to share recommendations. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. The pillows were soft and squishy like back home. Bathroom was large and lovely.  breakfast is plentiful and you can select which ever options you would like to have. 

Guests should know there is no elevator. The host was very willing to carry suitcase upstairs, but still, I would like to know that before booking the property. 

Very large car park and close enough to the town to walk, although due to the torrential rain when we were going out, we did get a taxi to the town (the taxi fare was £6.00 for approx 0.8 miles). We had a large clean room overlooking the front of the hotel with a comfortable bed and good breakfast in the morning, before we moved on to our next destination.

This is a lovely hotel, clean, nice rooms, comfy bed. Close enough to walk into town and ample parking which was great for us as we were in a van. The breakfast was amazing, good quality ingredients and very tasty, we weren't brave enough to try the haggis! The host's make this hotel, friendly, cheeful, attentive and go the extra mile. We only stayed for one night unfortunately but will definitely return
