Quiet, tucked away gem of a hotel. The staff are amazing, very helpful. The food was very good and priced well (probably why so many locals eat there too). Included breakfast was very good. Very nice restaurant and lounge/bar. You're also pretty close to some nice castles!

First - We weren't sure our mini fridge worked.. You have to leave a keycard into a wall mount for the power in the room to stay active - so I'm not sure if the fridge just didn't have time to get cool enough for the one night we were there or if it just wasnt working. Second - that we were passing through and only got to stay the one night.

The grounds/surrounding area of the hotel were lovely/relaxing. We ate in the restaurant and whilst there was limited choice on the menu, the food was excellent and the choice and food quality at breakfast was very good indeed. The dining/breakfast area, bar and outside seating area's were very comfortable and clean.

Perhaps a slightly greater variety on the evening dinner menu, however this may have been because we were there over the Easter Weekend. Otherwise thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and will be back as we have family within the Dumfries and Galloway area.

no receptionist on desk when arrived and had to wait and then look for someone to mention this to went into the lounge which is a nice area but the main feature ie the fire was not lit. Spoke to the boy at the bar and he did put it on and what a difference it made. I had fish and chips in the restaurant and the fish wasn't great and a bit greasy Also the room was fantastic but the bathroom had an awful smell the whole time we were there.

The hotel is very nice and the staff are very friendly too, they made you feel comfortable and nothing was too much bother. The rooms were well appointed with a good shower, comfy beds and excellent views. When we stayed the hotel was busy (I think possibly a wedding) but at no point were we disturbed during our stay by the function.

The only thing the hotel lacks is a spa/gym however we knew when we booked it didn’t have them but it really would be the icing on the cake. (This is just general feedback and definitely not a criticism)

All staff were friendly, efficient and incredibly helpful during our stay. Nothing was any trouble at all. We got married at nearby Gretna and decided to spend a few days before and after at Hetland Hall and I'm so glad we made this choice! The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the surroundings are quiet and peaceful. We dined there as well as having breakfast and the food was absolutely delicious. Eggs benedict cooked to perfection! Reception, bar, restaurant and housekeeping staff were all so cheery, welcoming and helpful. We appreciated the complimentary bottle of fizz with our meal after our wedding ceremony, we had chosen to have a very intimate and understated wedding day, but staff at Hetland made it special for us. Thank you all! Special thanks to Cheryl who kindly took us to Annan railway station when we struggled to get a taxi when we decided to have a day in Carlisle while we were there too, it was so good of her to take us at the end of her breakfast shift.

Really nothing to complain about at all, but just as a personal choice, I prefer hand wash in bathroom in hotel room rather than a bar of soap, even though they are obviously wrapped and discarded after each guest leaves.

Superb hotel, beautifully appointed, wuth stunning grounds and wonderful staff.. The bedroom and facilities were wonderful, and way way more luxurious than I expected for the 85 pounds I paid.. I would have paid 3 times the amount... Great beer in the garden, watching the sun go down. It's a beautiful building yet tastefully done in a modern look.. the bath and shower were fantastic. I can't fault this hotel.. exquisite, I wish I could have stayed longer. Plenty of parking, in stunning grounds, and the staff were so welcoming and professional. The breakfast included was of a 5 star standard.. the eggs benedict were divine. I will return to this hotel.

Lovely clean hotel in a quiet location. Dinner and breakfast were exceptional. Staff were friendly.

The room was too hot. There was a fan but not powerful enough to make any difference. We left the windows open, but our room was at the back beside a blue workers container, and this was noisy late at night as workers were leaving and arriving in the morning. It didn't ruin our stay but AC in smaller double rooms would improve summer stays.

The man at the reception was very welcoming. The staff is general was kind. The room was clean. The breakfast was allright. Plenty of space on the parking. Beautiful area around the hotel. Location is good too. Nice bathtube.

The check-in was from 3pm. I arrived after that time and my room wasn't ready when I arrived. I had to wait 40 minutes before the room was ready. I was super tired cause I was coming from port of Hull (England) with my motorcycle. Wich was a really long drive! Of course, I've been patient and didn't complain about it. But I just wanted to say it. Surely the man at the reception didn't know cause he gave me the key of my room... Also, I couldn't get to sleep well, the music was on very loud until after 1am (surely a party at the hotel) Should be quiet after 10pm. But still... not cool.

The room was absolutely lovely and very spacious. Great beds, lovely bathroom, could have stayed there forever! Breakfast was very good, excellent food also for dinner and very reasonable prices. The bar was fantastic too, again, with absolutely reasonable prices. Staff were very nice too and very welcoming. If we ever happen to be in the area again, we’ll definitely come back!!

Nothing, everything was perfect.

Beautiful and clean ,very nice area ,well kept gardens, the meal we had in the restaurant was exceptional.compliments to the chef.the 2 guys in the bar very good and professional. The lady who checked us in very nice and smiley ,not like the one on Sunday morning

The room we had was above the bar .everytime someone went through the door to the outside seating area it was slammed shut really loud.very annoying and disappointing, especially the price we paid for the suite .the lady on reception ,when we checked out ,no smile no ,did you have a nice stay etc nothing !,not good and felt like ,we have your money now ,so you don't matter. Unprofessional.
