Very nice room with large wet room shower.Slightly spoiled due to broken towel rail left sitting on the floor and ugly broken wall brackets left next to shower . Toilet seat loose and basin tap needs attention. Food was very good and lovely decor throughout building. Would stay again and hope comments help to speed up issues highlighted repairs .

I stopped over for just the one night and Somerton House was able to suit me perfectly. The check-in process, as well as my request to arrive early was seamless. I was grateful for the reasonable pricing of the stay, as well as the excellent comfort of the room. The hotel is just off the A74(M) after entering Scotland which means it is a great place to stop for those travelling and in need of a short stay.

The room I had had a sloped ceiling. As I am quite tall, this meant that I was hunched over quite a bit during the stay. This was the same when showering in the morning.

We chose the hotel because of the art deco decoration and wanted to see this. The Kauri wood panelling and doors were phenomenal and we would have loved more information about who designed the house, when it was built in more detail and who chose the finishes and flourishes on the ground floor. We hadn't got meals included in the price of our booking and stayed in for our evening meal and had our breakfast. The staff were friendly and the owners very welcoming. Breakfast had some gluten free options which were most welcome and could be mentioned on the menu. It would have been great to have a light bites option in the evening for my preference but the meals were tasty.

All was well. As the shower is over the bath it is helpful to me to to know this when I book and it would be useful to add in some rails or grips.

Close base for visiting my family, lovely hotel with parking, arrived late so didnt see many staff but the young man who was there carried my case and bags upstairs for me, didnt eat here this time but have done in the past and breakfast is lovely

Sadly travel cot didnt have a mattress just a sheet on a base, so had to improvise with the throws off the main beds, i switched the hairdryer on a whole load of dust and things came flying down from a ledge above the mirror didnt want the staff thinking we'd made the mess so told them what happened, we went out for the day and came back to a perfectly tidy and clean room, vent fan in the bathroom is a bit loud in the night as its on a sensor so if you go in the night everyone hears it, also the bathroom door only close properly if you banged it shut we had a toddler in the room so tried to avoid it else everyone would have been awake

Ideally positioned just off the motorway. Friendly welcome despite it being after 10pm. Comfortable bedroom and really quiet overnight.

There was a bit of mixup in communication between Booking.com and the hotel: although I’d reserved for two people, the message the hotel got was a booking for one person. It wasn’t a problem really, but to avoid any awkwardness I’d just advise someone to add a message to the property in the app to say it’s for two people.

The property was great and the rooms were clean and comfortable, the bed was comfortable and there were spare pillows and a blanket in the room which is always a nice touch. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was lovely, the staff couldn’t have been any friendlier.

The only thing is, on booking.com it states check out is 6am-11am. A staff member chapped our door at 10.20am and asked if we were staying or going because she had to clean the room, I said we were just charging our phones before we left and the reply was ‘and how long will that be because I need to clean the room?’ To my confusion I said I thought check out was 11am to which I got a stern reply ‘no, 10:30am’ - unfortunately this dampened our mood at the end of our stay. There was also black mould in the bathroom.

Hotels like this are becoming rarer and rarer, replaced by soulless chains, and we are in a poorer place for it. The Somerton House Hotel is as full of character, charm and beauty as the surrounding area. I’m in a superior double room (no 6), and it’s lovely. The fixtures and fittings in the room are of an age, and I hope they never change them. The bathroom is modern. Service is exemplary, personal, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, not rushed, and I never felt like I was sat waiting. Considering I’m here for work, I’ve enjoyed my stay, and I hope I get to return soon.

Easy to find & plenty of parking. Friendly welcome when I booked in. State here by myself & choose a room with 2 single beds. Room & Bathroom were very clean. Small basket of toiletries in the bathroom + Kettle, water, tea, coffee & biscuits in the room. All were a very nice touch. I didn't have any food at the hotel, so I cannot comment on that but it was offered when I arrived. It was a brief 1 night stay & I didnt spend much time in the hotel but Overall, a very nice place. Thank you.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The food was very good. I particularly liked the chicken Stanley, with it cheese sauce and perfectly cooked veg. Fine breakfast. A characterful hotel with some interesting painted reliefs on the ceiling in the dining room and New Zealand kauri wood panelling.

We would have preferred a shower to a bath and the plumbing needed attention.

Lockerbie is such a small town, it was so nice to stay at such a lovely place. The staff was so welcoming and it was amazing!

The only thing I did not like was totally not their fault. It was unusually warm while we were there and of course there is no air conditioning in our room. This is common everywhere so it was not there fault. We slept with the window open so it was all good. Just be prepared.
