Perfect location ! Quiet but near the town centre. On site free parking. We were greeted with a warm friendly welcome on arrival, Terry & Lynne genuinely want all guests to feel comfortable and enjoy their stay. (King sized room) Lovely clean rooms, especially liked the dressing area between the bedroom and bathroom. Plenty of storage space. Bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The room is well equipped with TV, hairdryer, extra blankets a fan, tea & coffee etc. Bathroom was spotless and had little added extras, robes and toiletries. Breakfast was delicious. Haggis was my favourite! I think these ones were caught, fresh daily… in a net of course as it’s summertime. The owners and staff were more than happy to help at anytime. We managed to find the secret beach that was recommended to us and had a fantastic day there, even went for a swim! Thank you so much for a wonderful memorable stay. We hope to stay again soon :)

Absolutely nothing

On arrival we were shown our room by Lynne our host, the room was very nice and there was a super kingsize bed, there were complementary toiletries in the bathroom which was great and tea and coffee making facilities in room (a nice touch was some lovely biscuits). We had a couple of drinks in the bar area which was well stocked, Terry was a lovely host at the bar and also at breakfast the following morning. Our breakfast was lovely and good of selection of fruit, cereals and condiments. Overall a fantastic stay at a lovely hotel.

Not a fan of UHT milk catering cartons, would have been lovely to have a mini fridge with some fresh milk for guests. But that is a personal choice for us.

Lovely traditional hotel. Very clean and quiet location. The weather was particularly hot but a fan was provided in the room which was perfect. Staff are very friendly and keen to do anything for you. Excellent walking access into Dumfries. Plenty of parking on site.

Our room was quite small with twin beds i wasn't expecting. The bathroom was fine but the shower over the bath flooded the floor each time as couldn't adjust the shower head to point downwards to avoid this.

The hotel was only a short walk away from the main street and the hotel car parking was plentiful. We checked in with Terry who was an excellent host. Very friendly and helpful with local knowledge. He even printed out a sheet of tips for our next few travel days and pointed us towards attractions we would not have known about. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Hill Hotel. The breakfast was excellent. We loved the 1860s grand house setting and the beautiful breakfast! Thank you Terry!

There were many thoughtful touches in this hotel, for example a mirror placed between sockets that was perfect for hairdryer use. Bathrobes. Full length mirror excellent for guests dressing for special occasions.

Just a small point but didn’t like the position of the smoke (or other alarm) in the ceiling which was within our line of vision when in bed . Its sensor light flashed red every few seconds and kept one of us awake periodically during the night.

What a great Hotel. Stayed one night for a weekend Golf trip. Lynne met us in reception got us booked in, took our Golf trolley batteries and charged them up for us ready for the next days play. Terry served us some nice beers in the bar at the Hotel, and pointed us in the right direction of where to go in Dumfries that night. The rooms were fantastic, spotlessly clean and the most powerful shower ! The breakfast in the morning was excellent, very tasty and all the choice you could want. Terry and Lynne couldn't be more helpful, the Hotel was brilliant and the lads already want me to sort out a trip for next year. Thanks to Lynne and Terry and the staff for making our stay in Dumfries a good one.

There isn't anything not to like about The Hill Hotel, great location, well run, wonderful rooms at a great price, I would thoroughly recommend them for a stay in Dumfries.

Terry and Lynne Hawkins were great hosts and very welcoming. The location is an easy walk to downtown Dumfries. The hotel is on a spacious lot with an on-site pub and outside seating areas. Beds were comfortable; breakfast was delicious. The hotel is spotless and comfortable in every way. Hosts stop to chat during breakfast or whenever they see you out and about. Ample on-site parking. We were made to feel right at home. Lynne even gave us advice on visiting the local library for help with our geneology search.

The Hill Hotel is a lovely place to stay. From the moment you walk through the doors you are made to feel welcome. Terry, the host is very helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. Nothing is too much trouble. The room was lovely and spacious. Breakfast is a combination of cooked, continental or both. Lovely choices to suit all tastes. The Hill has a bar facility, also with plenty of choice of drinks. Would recommend the Hill Hotel to family and friends. Most definitely a lovely place to stay.

The hotel is Ideal for a visit to Dumphries. It's got a good carpark & a lovely exterior. We were given a warm welcome by the hosts. Our room was a comfortable double at the front of the house. There's no views here but we weren't bothered as it was only an overnight pit stop. The room was very well equipped with hair dryer, ear plugs, brew making facilities, bath robes, boot tray and was immaculately clean. Unlike other hotels I was pleasantly surprised that there were power points next to both mirrors for hair styling. The bathroom was a small shower room, fully equipped with room spray, shower caps, cotton wool pads. The decor is in keeping with the age of the building which we liked, tartan carpets, tartan wall paper. It has a bar but we didn't use it. Breakfast was outstanding and the personal attention by the hosts is fantastic. I'd highly recommend it and would use again.

Room was clean and comfortable Owners were lovely and friendly Perfect location, walking distance from the centre Delicious breakfast Although we were here on a sad occasion, our trip was made better by the venue and hosts. Very helpful by offering an ironing board and making restraunt recommendations. Will definitely stay again when back in the area.
