The staff truly made our stay in New York a memorable experience. When we needed to upgrade our room to accommodate my wife's sister with a second bed, the receptionist was incredibly generous. She kindly upgraded us to a suite at the same price as a double room, which we greatly appreciated.

I had a wonderful stay at The New Yorker Hotel. The room was comfortable and impeccably maintained, providing a perfect retreat after a busy day exploring the city. What truly stood out was the hotel’s prime location just steps away from major attractions, excellent dining options, and convenient transportation. Overall, I was highly satisfied with my experience and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

The location is amazing. So close to everything. Staff were fabulous. Beds super comfortable and water pressure great for such an old hotel.

Rooms are tiny, tiny, tiny. Not even enough room to put your toiletries in bathroom. No fridge or coffee facilities in room. Not even a complimentary bottle of water.

Great hotel in a perfect location with helpful staff. However being charged $5 per bag to store luggage before check in and after checkout is an effrontery. The price of hotels in New York is expensive enough that this should not be included as a separate item.

I was in New York to attend a Seminar. This hotel was close to my location that is why I booked it. The price was good. rooms very comfy and good wifi.

The security staff is rude. for 6 Days every time I go in and out of hotel they asked for my room key. the way of asking is very rude. Though I told them that i am staying here for 6 days despite all that they kept on asking for my room key every time i go back to my hotel. I know it is their duty but they could have asked in a proper way not shouting at you. I did not see them asking for room key from many guests but from me they did it for 6 days. Being a ex-hotelier ( Sales & Marketing Manager at Marriot Hotel) I know how the security desk works but in this hotel they are really bad and it is not good.

Fabulous central location. Close to downtown Manhattan with good subway connections. Lobby area and reception very 1920s, with iconic art deco chandeliers and decor. Very comfortable pillows and beds. Friendly staff in Trattoria Bianca restaurant with tasty food and good selection of dishes. Fridge in room was a good size and useful for chilling drinks etc. Constant hot water and powerful shower. Business centre was useful for printing off boarding passes etc.and open 24-7.

Reception staff were rather frosty and not very welcoming. Room was smaller than i expected and carpet dated and a little worn. We had asked for a refurbished room so decor was fine...but nothing special. To leave bags, we were charged $5per item, which i thought was excessive. Had expected more for the price, but maybe i am not used to New York.

The convenience of the location- perfect for easy connection by public transport for either JFK (subway) or Newark (train from Penn). Close to Hudson yard and the start of the high line, and all the other attractions of Midtown. Love the old art deco style throughout, even if it is a little tired in places and the beds were really comfortable. we also had a view of both the empire state and the Chrysler building from our room on 32nd floor. It was the best value I could find in Manhattan.

Bit of noise during the day when some renovation work was being done possibly on a nearby floor, but we were out most of the time anyway and quiet at night so not a problem.

Our room was very large and spacious with fantastic views of The Edge and the Hudson River, it was kept clean and tidy by the housekeeping team throughout our stay with plenty of fresh towels. The front office team are exceptional, with special mentions to Samira and Carlotta who were very helpful. The location is perfect with easy access to & from JFK via the LIRR (Penn Station is over the road) and air train, very cheap & easy to use and navigate even with luggage and a child in tow, and lots of food options in the immediate vicinity if you want to grab & go. All of the big attractions are nearby (walkable), and just head either immediately east or west on 34th St to the ferry ports for direct, easy access to Dumbo (east) and Battery Park City (west). The TickTock diner is great - quick service and nice food, handy for filling up before a day out exploring the city. The hotel is iconic, art deco and beautiful, truly quintessential New York, and no it's not modern, but it was the perfect base for our stay. Clean, comfortable, family friendly, safe, great location.

No negatives, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

The receptionist who assisted in our check-in is so clear, nice and very accommodating. She treats nicely and very warm. The person assigned in the front door is very courteous in our check-out that he even helped in assisting our luggages to our private car going to the airport. He is well mannered, helpful and very lively.

The toilet downstairs is far going down the stairs.. only for stairs, no elevator for it and it is locked... you need to ask for a key.. and the one giving the key has no life in him, he is even snobbish and not accommodating... we are guests of the hotel and that treatment is not nice. even the ones assigned in the luggage counter when we will have our luggage kept for awhile while waiting for our airport time. When I paid and have it kept, she is snobbish. The lady even scold the other guests and the other guest feels humiliated. I also felt that for them and the encounter with her is not nice. she is also in a hurry and does not smile at all. bad customer service.

New Yorker is basically hands down the best place in NYC for value for money and location for Midtown Midtown Manhattan. Nowhere else comes close in terms of price and location (without it being a dodgy hostel/hotel). It is not the place for you if you want luxury and to be spending loads of time relaxing at the hotel. It is clean / safe / its an iconic hotel. It does the job if you need a place to rest your head because you know you will be spending your time out exploring NYC. I have stayed there 4 times now.

I am reluctanct to say anything negative about it because the price is really good for what you get compared to other places. The rooms are fine but a bit tired. The corridors to the rooms, the same. The hotel staff are nice enough but you dont feel like they are particularly enthusiastic. But its fine because you are in Midtown Manhattan next to Macys, 2 blocks from Empire State, close to Times Square. And the train to JFK from Penn Station is right next to the hotel. Direct subway to downtown and uptown.
