Can't say enough good things about this place. The rooms are pleasant and well presented, the place is very well located and easy to find, and most of all the staff we're highly attentive and invested in ensuring your stay was as good as it can be. They even go as far as to provide the little things that might help you out, like a power bank you can use in your bedside table, waterproof phone covers, luggage weigh scales and all kinds of lush toiletries are available. They also informed me of things that were happening in the area, like the weekend night matket. For me this all demonstrates they're actively thinking about making sure you have a good stay. They were also very helpful when I asked if I could have a parcel sent there that I needed to take delivery of whilst on my travels. Long may this place continue!

CJ Residence occupies the 2nd floor of a shoplot in Sinsuran, walking distance to the market, waterfront and is surrounded by convenience stores and eateries. Room was compact but had all the luxuries of a high-end hotel like toothbrushes, even down to bedroom slippers, which we didn't even need because the cleanliness was good. Though it was smack in town, the windows were glazed to block out sounds and the blinds were good enough to black out the room. It's on the 2nd floor without lift, but the staff will help carry baggage up and down. Service was very good with the concierge checking if everything was OK. The fittings and equipment in the room are of good quality too. Water pressure good, aircon cold. The staff told me that the owners have a few more boutique hotels elsewhere in KK.

I couldn't get the TV to work but that's ok as we were only staying a night.

The staff has been exceptional with us, very friendly and super helpful with any request of ours. Moreover, we had a small issue with the water not working in our room for a couple of hours, but the staff was super kind and fixed the problem as fast as they could and to apologise they gifted us a piece of cake. Moreover, they had all the amenities we needed, hair dryer, air-con (which was already on in order to cool down the room), shampoo, soap, etc etc. Bed was comfortable.

You could see that the room was basically new or refurbished not a long ago, but the building was a little bit sketchy. You wouldn’t say that you could find such a nice room in a building like that one. Another thing maybe the walls could have been a little bit thicker because during the night we could hear everything and there were a lot of people coming in and going out.

Loved the care and attention with everything. They even had a weighing scale to check your bags! Clean accommodation, comfortable bed, it’s on a main street so you hear some sound and not a very clean area but that’s not a fault they can correct. It was the personal touches that blew me away from checking in with us very morning, delivering milk when requested, early check in, providing recommendations for what to do, even pictures with prices and where to book. We absolutely loved the service via WhatsApp and the lady we initially met to check us in. The only reason I give it 9 is the area (not their fault) and the location being a little further away from jesselton point for the island hopping. Look no place then here to stay. Staff were extremely accommodating and efficient. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The location was perfect, a quick stroll down to waterfront dining and sunset views, the night food and handicraft markets and up to Gaya St. Located directly across from the Centre Point Mall for money exchanges, massages, dining and shopping. I stayed in 4 separate locations in Kota Kinabalu and this was by far my favourite and i would highly recommend it.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at CJ Residence, and I must say, it was an great experience. The host was exceedingly attentive and caring, ensuring that all guests felt welcome and comfortable throughout their stay. The communication with the host was fantastic; they were always available and ready to assist with any needs or inquiries. An additional perk was the free luggage storage service, which was incredibly convenient, allowing us to explore the area without the burden of carrying our bags around. The hotel's location was ideal, situated within walking distance to delicious local food and shops. Overall, the combination of the gracious host, convenient amenities, and prime location made this hotel an excellent choice for a comfortable stay. Highly recommended!

Had a wonderful stay! While the building is old and the stairs just weren't as nice, the apartment itself is a hidden gem. It was clean, well-maintained, and the staff was incredibly helpful, always ready to assist. They even provided a power bank, which was a nice touch. The location is perfect, right by the market, and the view from the window looking out onto the street was quite interesting, giving a real sense of the vibe outside. All in all, an excellent experience at a very reasonable price, especially for a short budget trip! Highly recommend!

The room was spotless. Tea bags and coffee packets were provided, as well as toiletries. They will give 2 bottles of mineral water every day, which is very nice. Wifi was fast. I also like the socket that they have-universal socket. It is suitable for foreigners to charge their phone or laptop.

I didn't like that the room offered does not have a window. I wished to be informed earlier so I could make a decision. The room is not soundproof, so expect to hear noise from outside or from the next room. It was not that bad, tho. I had 2 lugages, so it was a struggle to bring it upstairs.

We had an excellent stay there. Owner works so professional. It was a surprise for us the so quick and accurate responses. Room has everything inside and the location is perfect too. You can even walk to ferry port and night market is two minutes away.

I think it would be more fair to write the word no window with capital letters on the title of description of room. For example i hadn't noticed that there is no window. In our room there was a massage chair. For us it wasn't usufull and we would prefer more free space. There are a lot of massage shops around, price 60-70 myr.

The people who run this place embody the spirit of hospitality . Nothing is ever a nuisance for them and they do their best to accommodate your needs . I accidentally booked a room without windows in hurry and when I informed them they upgraded me to a room with windows which was more expensive but they didn’t charge me extra . The furnishing is nice and the room is very clean . The host response very fast and the staff are nice

Honestly this is not a big deal at all it’s more of a recommendation for future improvements. It would be great if you could make the TV a smart TV
