What a lovely place! It is full of character, as the original features of the building have not been replaced/defaced and renovations/restorations have been carried out with respect. I was impressed with the love, care and attention with which the place is run. I loved the little touches like a coffee pod machine in my room and the monogrammed slippers. The staff are very friendly and helpful and take time out to interact with guests, so they can gauge their needs and respond accordingly. The position of the hotel in the centre of the harbour adds to its charm and I spent a few hours just idly watching the passersby and the fishermen come and go. A special mention must be made of the two lovely ladies who make the breakfast. Everything is fresh and delicious and there is plenty of choice. I was often asked if I would like to take some cake to enjoy later in the day! Hydra is a lovely island and I would love to return there: if I do, I will make Hotel Sophia my number one choice.

The location right on the Waterfront of the port is ideal. I especially enjoyed watching the going-ons from the balcony, which gives a perfect view of the port and the people passing by on the waterfront. The staff is lovely, their breakfast delicious and plentiful (both Greek and continental offerings) and the cleanliness is top notch.
Not all rooms have balconies (mine didn’t but it was a loft-style room which almost makes up for the lack of balcony and lack of sun in the living room, but the bedroom area does have a skylight and a good sound-resistant window albeit no view). And the upside is that there is a small communal balcony for the rooms without their own balcony .

Angela was an amazing host — just like her name, an angel. It felt like staying in her home rather than a hotel. Everything had been thoughtfully prepared, even an umbrella in the room. There were complimentary drinks in the fridge. The hotel is right in the heart of Hydra, by the sea. You can sit on the balcony and enjoy your drink — it might just be one of the best views ever. Breakfast, with handmade pastries, makes you feel like you're in your mother’s kitchen. The service is top-notch. If I ever go back, I will definitely stay here again. I absolutely loved it.

We had the most wonderful stay on Hydra at Hotel Sophia. The location is outstanding; it was amazing to sit on the balcony and watch the life of the harbor unfold. The breakfast was something special. There were plenty of options and many local specialties. The breakfast room was very cozy, and you could also choose to enjoy your breakfast on the balcony of your room. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We were unfortunate to catch a couple of days with cold weather. For the chilly weather, the duvets were a bit on the cool side, but it wasn’t a major issue.

What a lovely room!! and superb location. The stone wall and architectural quirks were full of local art work. you can tell it’s a family business that truly care about their guests… The balcony was the perfect place to sit and be amongst the busy Harbour working port, watching the donkeys go by, and as bed was tucked away up stairs offering rest - a perfect combinations of “busy” and “peaceful” easily found. From Sofia we walked to Mt Eros - caught taxi boats right outside the window - mooched around the cobbles and felt we had a home from home, in the centre of it all!! breakfast was lovely, homemade and non fussy with local dishes!! all guests sitting together on one large table - with interesting morning conversation. A 3 night stay here was a real window into Hydra…… if you want to be at the heart of it all - Sofia is waiting for you to call…..

I couldn't have been happier with everything this boutique hotel provided for my 3-night stay in Hydra (Aug 2024)! If I had to choose one thing that was especially to my liking, it would have to be the breakfast - imagine eating homemade cheese (and cheese + spinach) pie, made by the wonderful owner, with a healthy selection of cheeses, eggs, cherry tomatoes, followed by homemade sweets, eaten with coffee. The staff did everything they could to make my stay memorable and answer all my questions. The hotel was right in the heart of the port, so the breakfast was with a view of the expansive sea - it's priceless. The cleanliness of the room (I was in a single room) deserves a mention of its own as well. I know where I'll be staying for my next stay in Hydra!
I loved everything, so this question is simply unnecessary.

We travelled in the Greek islands for 3 weeks and Hotel Sophia was easily the most enjoyable place we stayed at. Its location directly on the water front was perfect, it took us less than 5 minutes to get from our ferry to the hotel door and the welcome from our host was warm and helpful. Although it was possible to take your breakfast on a tray to your own balcony - the atmosphere in the dining room with guests from all over the world sharing a large table and chatting happily to each other was not to be missed! Also, the food was delicious. Our room was quite large, the mattress was firm and comfortable and everything was clean.
Nothing. Hydra is a lovely island and we loved being awoken by the sound of mules carrying goods up the small road beneath our room - a great way to start the day.

This 6-room hotel is located right on the Hydra seaport! Very much a welcoming home atmosphere with very caring, helpful and accommodating staff. Extremely good breakfast cooked by the sisters who own the hotel, with a huge choice of delicious things to eat. Breakfast is eaten around a large table; a great opportunity to meet and chat to your fellow guests. This unique Greek experience of a hotel is run by two cheerful and energetic sisters who are now the fourth generation of the same family to own it. We loved our comfortable room with a balcony that overlooked the hustle and bustle of the harbour and were delighted with our helpful and friendly hosts.
There isn’t anything we didn’t like about the property; it was perfect!

Angelina was a wonderful hostess, very welcoming. The room was small but there was lots of storage spaces. We had the corner balcony room overlooking the port and were very entertained by watching boats untangle anchors, freight unloaded from boats and loaded on donkeys and tourists walking and talking. The breakfasts were varied and good. Guests eat around one table so there was good conversation from international travelers. We would highly recommend this gem.

Cute hotel, perfect location, views from the balcony was great , extremely friendly staff, breakfast was nice and hand made. I chose to go on a hike so the staff kindly gave me cereal bars and water so i was prepared and they asked me to provide my personal number incase they didn't see me come back. Very attentive hotel. Would highly recommend them. Gave me bottle of water and snacks for journey back to Athens. Very kind of them
