Best hotel in Costa Rica so far. My girlfriend and I had a great time there. It is a very small hotel with i think 6 rooms. The whole staff is so friendly. Cooper is great, it was very important to him, how we were feeling about everything, how the food was, the rooms and so on. You can book tours there and i would recomend it. Maybe they are a little more expensive then from other organisations. But you will have your private tour with Johnny, who is a great guy. For example for the night tour it was only the two of us with Jonny. And the boattour we had with another couple from the hotel. And the boats of other companys were full with like 15 people. Johnny knows a lot and answers all yout questions The food and the girls cooking and serving it were great as well! They even washed and dryed our clothes. I can recomend it to everybody who is coming to tortugueru!!

The staff were so friendly and helpful. Even before we arrived we received WhatsApp messages confirming our booking and giving the opportunity for us to ask any questions. We arrived earlier than expected but still received a warm welcome and our room was ready very soon. The location is ideal as it is in the middle of town and everything is within a few minutes walk- the main strip with restaurants and shops, the entrance to the Tortuguero national park and the beach. We were served a lovely breakfast each morning in the courtyard which was a great place to watch the wildlife come and go, including spider monkeys!

Only a small thing but the curtains didn't stretch right to the end of the windows at the front so anyone walking past could have seen in a little. It's a small hotel and not many passing the room so not a big problem.

The breakfast was simple but satisfactory. The dinners (which came as part of our package) were simple but satisfactory with a bonus glass of wine! . The meals were served at times to suit your itinerary which was great and the service was super friendly. The room was amazing - modern, clean and very spacious.

Walking to the hotel felt a little dodgy as it’s down back streets but you get used to it and it’s close to the village restaurants and bars and the national park entrance. The beach is long but not attractive and it’s not possible to swim there.

We had a balcony room upstairs - these have huge windows and are private. The rooms were of a very high standard. Fully fitted kitchen, beautiful bathroom as well as a sitting and dining area. We loved sitting out on the balcony to watch the view (including the passing monkeys). The hotel is right next to the park - so had the joy of hearing all the animals in the morning; and its just two minutes from the beach. We also liked the communal eating and sitting areas - which gave you an opportunity to meet other guests. The breakfasts were fantastic - cooked to order. The hotel is just 5 minutes walk to town with all the bars and restaurants. Note that the rooms downstairs are next to the community area so you need to keep your curtains drawn for privacy.

The hotel does not have a pool and you cannot swim in the sea (due to rip tides) - so if it's hot there is nowhere to cool off. The hotel is quite expensive given the lack of facilities - but accommodation is expensive in this location.

We had an absolute dream stay at Serendipity. The hotel is very small, it only has maybe 6 rooms in total which makes it very cosy and family like. We had such a warm welcome! The staff is wonderful and so kind. They always wanted to make sure we are happy. We LOVED Costa Rican breakfasts! The room was clean, had a well functioning AC and honestly everything we needed. We stayed 3 nights and if we are ever here I’d love to stay at Serendipity again! The hotel is 3 min to the beach and we could also enjoy private monkey shows in the morning :)

The staff were so helpful. From the moment I booked to during our staff they were in contact with us and helped us to book trips and transfers. They just made the whole trip so much easier. When we were at the property the room was lovely, very clean with everything we could want. The food was amazing too, some very tasty local dishes. The trips arranged for us by the hotel was amazing. I would highly recommend to anyone planning on visiting the area.

Excellent little place off "main street", only 6 rooms, quite the standard for the "hippie" place Tortuguero. Staff was exceptionally friendly, thank you Cooper and team ! They offered to put our rain soaked clothes in the dryer, we left for lunch, by the time we got back, it was waiting in our room and already folded ! Breakfast made to order, you get asked what you want the day before and when you want it. Fridge, kitchen, microwave, A/C...

Tortuguero was our first stop in Costa Rica. The welcome from the staff at Hotel Serendipity was amazing. They met us off the public boat with a warm welcome and took our bags to the hotel. It’s more 6 apartments than a hotel but the rooms are amazing. Very modern, super clean. What sets this place apart in addition to the great rooms are the staff. They are absolutely lovely - especially the women who made our breakfast and dinner. Nothing was too much trouble and unlike some places the warmth and friendliness appeared genuine. This was our first stop in Costa Rica and it truly made us happy that we had picked this hotel. Don’t hesitate when booking, just book it you won’t be disappointed.

The staff is incredible. Nicest people you could ever meet. They really do aim to please. And they keep the grounds and rooms very clean. Expat owner is on site and accessible. He really has a vision for doing something special at Tortuguero. He picked us up in San Jose and we never even knew he was the owner until a staff member told us at the hotel. But we really enjoyed talking to him. This is a relatively new hotel which the owner developed along with another one right at the ocean but further from the boats and town. So it has modern touches. We loved the hand-carved wooden sculpures around the property and at his other hotel nearer the beach. There are monkeys and birds around as well as friendly local human residents. Arranged tours with very good guides. We had our dinners and 1 breakfast there. Service was great, food was basic but healthy, and we could have had seconds. There is also a kitchenette in the room which we found handy.

Not much water pressure at the kitchenette sink. Lever for adjusting bathroom shower water temp was difficult to reach. But owner has plans to rectify this.

The staff at this hotel were all very friendly and attentive. The rooms and premises were constantly being cleaned and maintained. Breakfast and evening meals were all freshly cooked. The hotel is located in Tortuguero village which allowed us to explore the area independently and easy access to tours. A 15% discount is offered on drinks served at the sister hotel which is right by the beach. It serves a great variety of drinks and offers a wide variety of seating options all benefitting from a welcome sea breeze.

The hotel is expensive as there is no pool or gardens and breakfast is a payable extra.
