Ideal location opposite Guildhall, near Windsor Castle, shops and short distance from Windsor Royal station (Slough line). Responsive staff when reporting room defects (a few) and kind, courteous service from concierge Mathew and colleague re: our request to leave baggage in their care for a few hours after checking-out.
From Reception experience (on arrival) it appeared we had an excellent deal through Booking.com, compared with usual rack rate. Had to upgrade at cost of £25 to enable us to check-in to a superior grade room, as our basic room wasn’t ready 2 hours prior to regular 3pm opening. However, ‘superior’ room had a number of basic defects, all of which could have been noticed prior by housekeeping - eg entrance door needed both hands to open (stuck to frame), thin/limp pillows needed replacing, lavatory had continual slow flush. Receptionist took notes when these were reported. Suggest a small card is made available in room allowing guests to note such defects, to hand it at Reception / expedittheir repair. Thistle Hotels cleverly had these in my earlier experience.

Close proximity to the Castle’& other things planned for our trip
We were advised to book early if we wanted to eat in the restaurant, which we did . However, when we went down for dinner which incidentally was a Birthday meal of which the hotel was advised at the time of booking. All the tables (7.15pm) were laid up for breakfast , the restaurant was empty & we had to wait to have a table made up for dinner. On reflection we should have gone out & found another restaurant but it was all a bit embarrassing.

It is on the high street just across the road from Windsor Castle. All bars and restaurants are within a 5 minute walk. A fridge in the room means you can keep drink and food. I would stay here again.
Booked a double bed 5 months prior to visit, but given twin beds that could be attached into 1. The hotel did give us another room, but we thought the new room should have been allocated to us in the first place

The proximity of the hotel to the castle was great. Plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. Breakfast was ok, offered variety. All Staff members were very friendly. Great concierge team. Would like to especially thank Matthew who helped with our wheelchair requirements.
Breakfast: we would have liked to have seen more freshly produced products I.e. bread, croissants muffins. Sausages looked under cooked (insufficiently browned) tasted ok. Bathroom: under the rim of the wash sink and toilet could be cleaner. It was black. Water from the Shower leaked onto the floor, under the toilet. The bath has a high rim and a little awkward to step into to have a shower

The location was excellent , right in the middle of Windsor High Street . The staff were attentive, professional but friendly . Our room was spacious , modern and comfortable. The separate dressing area and modern bathroom were great and the sitting area in the room was really useful . We ate in the hotel for dinner and this was good . The best selling point for us was that it was dog friendly too , and taking the dog , we didn’t have to compromise by going in an inferior room . The dog was allowed in the bar area which enabled us to eat at the hotel too which was a bonus on days when it was raining and staying in was preferable. A great stay , would definitely recommend.
The only down side for us was , that being on the busy high street , there was no where to stop the car to unload the luggage in front of the hotel . This meant stopping on the nearest car park and taking all the luggage and the dog up hill to the hotel in the pouring rain . Once there , the staff were rushing out to help us and this was only a small negative that can’t be helped due to the prime location next to Windsor Castle.

Excellent hotel location in the heart of Windsor. Ideal hotel for Ascot stays. Friendly reception staff.
Parking in the hotel car park is a chore. First gentleman to greet us was super friendly however second gentleman was a little frosty when we returned to car park and made us wait before allowing us to park in space already allocated to us. In the evening we returned to hotel and wanted a drink from the bar. It's wasn't overly late but the night porter made us feel like a pain wanting drinks and made a real meal out of opening the bar and serving us making it very clear he was not really happy to do so.

It’s right in the centre of town opposite a delightful wine bar and bistro/cafe. It’s nicely decorated. Bar staff are very friendly and efficient. We had an expensive room but it was very nice and the French doors on such a warm week very welcome
There isn’t much parking so we had to park a long way away. Also it’s very noisy in Windsor at night. Also we went Ascot week so there were a lot of City-types banging on loudly about how expensive their Ferrari/Porsche/house in the Dordogne is which got a bit tedious tbh but that is hardly the fault of the hotel. We will definitely stay again.

The location and the hotel foyer was really good.
It was our 40th Wedding Anniversary and I called reception and advised them that we would be arriving at 9.30pm. I also requested a bottle of Prosecco in the room as a surprise for my wife. When we were checking in the receptionist asked me to pay for the procecco in front of my wife, which spoiled the surprise completely. We then went up to our room to find there was no Prosecco!! Very frustrating and I told the lady on reception of my displeasure and requested a refund for the Prosecco. Otherwise the hotel was great. We did not have breakfast in the hotel, due to the cost and found The Ivy’s breakfast at £17.95 a lot cheaper.

The room was impeccable, and the breakfast was very much worth the money spent. I really liked how well looked after the property was, and the staff are a testament to that success. If you are coming to Windsor, there is nowhere better placed for a stay.
On both days of our stay, we had to prompt the reception to clean our rooms, which I found a little frustrating. I also found it very odd that a simple cappuccino was not something you could order as part of breakfast. At £4 a cup, it better be the best coffee in town... I think the desperation showed by the folks in the restaurant to then force you to pay in that moment while eating was also not something I expect from a hotel like this. I found staff in the restaurant to be the most junior, and it showed in the ease with which they interacted with the guests. There is some room for improvement there.

Everything was great, the staff were friendly and professional. My wife has many allergies, so they approached the food selection with care and professionalism. We both are lactose intolerant. On the first day, we ordered breakfast to the room, and although I didn’t specifically mention milk, they brought both regular and soy milk (which we don’t consider a problem, but we had bought lactose-free milk ourselves at the store).
On the day of departure, we had breakfast in a restaurant downstairs and staff asked for any hot drinks. We asked about dairy free coffee, then asked about soy milk and lady showed where it is. While we were choosing our breakfast she prepared our tea, coffee and milk on the our table. So we assumed it was a soy milk. However, as we found out later, while on the train, it was regular milk. We kindly ask you to be more attentive to guests who request milk alternatives — we don’t ask for them just out of preference, but because of real intolerance.
