The value for the price was unbeatable. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and it felt welcoming. There are BBQs and picnic tables outside, as well as stackable chairs you can move around. We enjoyed sitting at the picnic tables at night and looking at the stars. The location is quiet and feels private. The check-in office had great hours as well, they were open until 11 or 12 for check-in or assistance.

The fridge and microwave were tricky to plug in. Truly a tiny complaint with how great the place was. The outlets for the appliances were hidden behind a heavy dresser, but the staff were so kind, I am sure they would plug it in for anyone who doesn't have the strength to do it themselves.

Only two issues really, and the first is fairly minor... the couch was kind of uncomfortable, could feel springs when I leaned back but it wasn't a deal-breaker. Most concerning was the toilet - it was so small/short that even a healthy, able-bodied adult like my husband and I would have a difficult time getting on and off. Anyone with a disability or joint issues, or even a very tall or seriously overweight person would not have been able to use "the facilities". For that reason, I would not be able to recommend this motel to my son-in-law who is quite tall and uses a cane.

The location is fantastic, with expansive green fields right behind the building and a magnificent river within walking distance. The surroundings were pristine, and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Originally, we had planned to drive for about 4 hours to reach Tobermory from Toronto and stay at their relatively expensive motels. However, we opted for a different approach by choosing a place situated midway between our destinations. This allowed us to take a break, recharge, and explore two different locations.

I can't really pinpoint any specific aspects that I didn't like about the motel. It was actually my first experience staying in a motel, so I don't have anything to compare it to. However, overall, it was a very pleasant experience. If I had to mention one minor preference, it would be that I would have preferred the faucet to be slightly larger. When washing our hands, we often ended up touching the sink due to the size of the faucet.

The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The property is very well kept and is located in a scenic area. The owner was more than happy to direct us to nearby restaurants for dinner, and was very accommodating when I left something behind in the room and wanted to come back for it.

In spite of the cleanliness of the room, the bathroom fixtures were outdated and should be replaced.

It was handy to have a microwave and fridge. Beds and pillows were comfortable. There were lots of towels. Also a nice picnic/BBQ area, although we arrived late and left early, so we didn't use it. Maybe next time.

There was no electrical outlet in the bathroom for the night light. No coffee maker in the room. Having these would have resulted in a better stay.

Extremely clean and well maintained rooms and property. I’ve never stayed in a cleaner room anywhere and we liked that a lot. Complimentary good coffee was an appreciated touch. Friendly management. Rooms are spacious.

The bed was a bit soft for my liking but that is a matter of taste. There is nothing else to note here.

The owner was very pleasant and helpful. Answered all my questions and chatted a bit with me about things outside of my stay (life, children etc.) She even offered a personal item of hers that I had forgotten from home. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained.

Appliances updated. Add a bit of modern pizzazz to the room.

I loved staying at this motel it is clean quiet the owners are so friendly n answered all our questions n the room was spotless comfortable. Everything was more than we expected.

I loved the location of The Lighthouse Motel. As it is just outside of Walkerton, you feel like you are holidaying in the peaceful countryside.

Perhaps a little lighter on the air freshener please.

facillity was every bit what we remembered having stayed there during our honeymoon 44 years ago , quiet and quaint .
