Masa and his kind staff were very helpful and welcoming to us!! He even went out of his way to call the Zamami Queen Ferry company to check if they would be running, as I was concerned about high winds at our next stop, in Okinawa. They stored our skis and ski gear 2 extra days until pickup from the ShipSki Company (it was a Sunday, & a Monday Emperor’s Holiday). The rooms were simple, but had everything we needed for our skiing trip (ski storage, boot dryers on first floor). 4 self-contained kitchen stations (brought our food from a local grocery beforehand, but noted they have fried rice, venison sausages/meat, ice cream bars in the freezer, along with dried noodles in their hotel store). Three refrigerators with freezers, and storage racks for your dried goods. Their Onsen was large indoors, with a quiet cozy outdoor pool (at least on the female side).

Having a lower priced hotel for budget conscious travelers within Daisetsuzan National Park was great. Yet it was very spacious and warm. Many other hotels were far too expensive for my budget! Also a big bonus was that they had their own Onsen within the hotel, for a very modest daily charge of only 250¥
Dorm rooms could have curtains added to each bed, as lights at night made it hard to sleep. As usual in a dorm room people come & go at all times. Some people didn't go to bed until 1am putting the light on in the whole dormitory! Curtains by each bed would reduce this. Many dormitory accommodation providers do have curtains installed. The other thing was hardly any teaspoons. It sounds silly to mention this, but to have a nice spacious kitchen with many pots, pans, plates, bowls knives, forks etc, but only 2 teaspoons is an oversight......

Great hostel! Clean and well organized with helpful bilingual and staff. Toast (2 slices per person and jam) and coffee provided in the morning. Bring groceries and use the great kitchen. Small shop has a few things but best to bring food. No restaurants in the area other than the ropeway for lunch. Wonderful clean onsen. Right next to the bus stop for easy public transportation or enough parking if you drive.
Toaster ovens take a bit to actually toast… But really not a big deal. Reaching deep to think of a dislike about the property!

this ‘hostel’ massively exceeded my expectations . The shared common area is much more like something you would find in a decent hotel! Fantastic kitchen facilities (but make sure you bring your own food as no shops in the National Park) . The outside onsen is one of the nicest I have used in Japan. The location is stunning , nestled in nature . The visitors centre is a 15 min walk up the road and hires snow shoes and cross country skis for a really good price (500 yen a day!) . Our bedroom was warm and comfortable with a private toilet

This hostel is really excellent value considering it contains a good onsen, excellent kitchen, spacious dining / lounge area and very roomy dorms with comfortable beds. The location in Asahidake was much more beautiful than I had anticipated (especially as the snow was beginning to fall), and the staff were especially attentive and friendly. Don’t hesitate! The Onsen was perfect at the end of a hike - with an indoor and outdoor bath and plenty of showering space. Re provisions - yes there is a little shop on site but it is limited to simple dried ingredients & instant food / ice cream etc. I would recommend bringing things from Asahikawa or elsewhere. Also there is an ok restaurant at the ropeway which closes at 3!

I love especially how self sufficient this hostel is. I was a little bit worried when I did the booking, knowing that it was located in the middle of a mountainous area with no access to any restaurants, cafes, supermarkets …etc. But with a little bit of planning, this stay became the highlight of our 10 days trip in Hokkaido! The hostel came with a full kitchen. And I’m not kidding. We can really whip up a feast! The Onsen is good and I enjoyed soaking in it after a long hike in the mountain. It’s a great place to interact and make new friends. All in all, it’s an exceptionally great hostel experience. I’ll definitely be back here again on my next trip to asahidake.

Perfect affordable spot for Mt. Asahidake access. It was a bit of a walk to the ropeway station but anything closer would have cost a lot more. The staff was knowledgeable about Daisetsuzan National Park. The nice onsen added to the quality, especially after a long hike. I recommend getting food at a grocery store in Asahikawa before taking the bus here, as their food selection is understandably sparse and there is no nearby grocery store. There is a full kitchen to make meals in.

Breakfast is 2 pieces of toast with jam and free coffee and tea, facilities are great especially the kitchen and onsen which were very spacious. It’s a big building because it used to be a hotel, so it’s nicer than most hostels
On the third floor which I stayed, there is only one girl’s bathroom which was far from my room and the light was motion activated so it sometimes would turn off while I was inside and wouldn’t turn on until I left the stall. Maybe a private room with a toilet would have been better. Also for the dorm room, it would be nice if there were curtains or a little more privacy, it was okay because the room was never full, but if the room was full, next time maybe I would get a private room. There is a 250 yen onsen charge per person per night paid during checkin which adds to total price of the stay

Amazing Location- You get a view of Mount Asahidake from your room. Also, the road leading to the property is beautiful with many animals. We saw deer crossing and multiple Japanese Raccoon dogs on our way to and fro. Helpful staff- we left our water bottle at the hotel. They sent it through Yamato to our next hotel. Spacious room and kitchen and condiments are provided. They also provide two huge slices of bread with jam every day. Value for money. Highly recommended for a budget stay in the area.
The bathroom was a bit too small. Since, the concept is of a hostel, it works fine but it was a little too compact for us.

It is conveniently located near Mt Asahidake ropeway, about 15 mins walk away. A quiet comfortable and cozy hostel with a well equipped kitchen. There is no eatery nearby but you can buy your own groceries and cook your food there. The onsen was malfunctioning when I was there but I was given onsen vouchers to another hotel nearby which was really nice. Breakfast (two slices of bread with jam/coffee/tea) was also provided. Staff were also friendly and nice.
Nothing! Even though there is no shower facility in my room, I think it is meant for you to shower at the onsen area. Pure bliss of soaking in the onsen every day.
