We were received warmly by Khwezi who gave us a tour of the beautifully decorated guest house. The rooms are big with comfortable bed, pillows and seating areas It felt like home away from home. Beds and pillows gave us a good night’s rest. The amenities (spacious lounge area, pool with loungers, study/ mini library, TV room, braai area) are suitable for one to enjoy a peaceful and relaxed weekend, solo or with loved ones. We were served a tasty breakfast each morning. The staff being mindful to suggest times to be seated for breakfast so as to not wait long for your hot breakfast to be served. An added bonus was l the option of a “home” cooked dinner, out of a choice of 3 meal options. But are flexible to cater to your preference if arrange ahead of time. I also loved the very well stocked honesty bar. Staff are friendly and willing to go the extra mile.

I liked everything. Best place to stay in GHT. excellent services. The ladies Linda and Monica are amazing, excellent customer care. Feel comfortable and safe stepping out and leaving my children in the room. Even have a study where i can have conference calls or my daughter can study from. The cleanliness is top notch. Lindas cooking tops it all but make sure you ask her in advance if you want dinner. Her salads are wonderful. I just cant complain. Actually I can ----you have to book early especially during the times surrounding schools have activities. Ballon weekend and K-Day they are already booked for the next 2 years.😩. I will not go anywhere else if they have room. Been staying there for the last 5 years. My second option would be their sister residence 8A.

The accommodation is comfortable. The decor lands itself to a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home.

The dining tables are awkward because they’re put together and sometimes depending on type of guests you have, some people can inconsiderate by being loud and put their phones on speaker. This takes the peaceful during breakfast. I wish the staff can be more vigilant on calling out guests on that if the tables cannot be split.

The room was incredibly comfortable, it was spacious and neat and very well decorated. The room had an aircon which was really lovely after a super warm day. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. We couldn't have a check-in earlier in the day and the lovely staff on duty that day stayed up to check us in late in the evening. The next morning we had a super early morning and again they accommodated in giving us a travel breakfast.

A gorgeous historic property with a beautiful serene ambience and incredible style. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Sam with a huge smile and genuine welcome, to sitting in the beautiful gardens enjoying an aperitif, sinking down into the most comfortable bed for an incredible night's sleep and finally enjoying a delicious breakfast OUR STAY WAS PERFECT. Kudos to Sam for doing such a great job..he is a gem!

This is a remarkable find among places to stay. The staff are professional and thoroughly welcoming. The log fires in a cold July - the decanter of sherry for guests - the innovative and thoughtful decor - and the comfort of this retreat during intense conferences at Rhodes University are all exceptional. The location is convenient and safe. The Highlander across the road became a meeting place for dinner.

- The photo showed two desks in our room and when we got there it was only one...however we were able to work in the boardroom which was great!

The place was exactly as shown in the pictures. The hotel maintained great communication even before our stay and kindly offered to accommodate us in case of an early or late check-in, which we really appreciated. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much!

Our room was lovely and quiet with a view of the pool and garden. Super neat and clean. Beautifully decorated. Our breakfast was just as we ordered and made specially for us just before 8 which was much appreciated.

The lawn around the pool could do with some weeding. Our room had a wonky ceiling fan which made a noise so we had to switch it off when we slept.

The historical home, the expanse of lawn, the spaciousness, the staff, etc. It was lovely.

Everything was so lovely, however, load-shedding has impacted all of us horribly. The drawback for this bedroom is all load-shedding related. The bedroom seemed to be opposite the very loud generator (not sure if it was the neighbors) and with that, I could not use the aircon during load-shedding nor could the TV and bedside table lights be used. With the power being down 4hrs at a time, that made for quite a stiflingly hot evening to catch some sleep along with a seriously loud generator outside. Perhaps a fan could be installed and the generator noise to be muffled out somehow. Not nice things to complain about with them being out of hands, mostly.
