Nice pub with rooms. A shame that they didn't serve food on Sunday evening but every chef is entitled to a day off and that is our fault for not checking in advance. Staff were friendly and helpful. We paid extra on arrival for breakfast and it was superb, one of the best breakfasts we have had for a while; plenty of food and the cooked breakfast was served piping hot. Free car parking was a bonus too.

It is all a little dated and could do with some money spending on a renovation. Threadbare curtains and sun-bleached tables. The duvet was quite thin and not sure if it would have been adequate in winter.

We stopped for one night while taking part of a dinner for 80th VE Day calibrations, and then had Breakfast the following morning, the room was clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly, the cost was what i expected and the food was also of very good quality and well presented.

I would say the whole building is getting a bit tired and would benefit for an all over refit, the mattress on the bed was in need of replacing, and has we have stopped in this hotel before i would say that most of the mattresses need to be replaced, having said that we will still be happy to stay again.

The car park had plenty of spaces. The staff were friendly and one lady carried my suitcase to my room to save me making two journeys. I'd had a shower that morning so I didn't use the shower. The room was light and airy and had twin beds and a window that opened! So, I kept that open all night. Tea and coffee was provided. I had the continental breakfast and because I had to reach my client early, the cheery kitchen staff were prepared for me to arrive the minute it opened. I had a large bowl of porridge with mixed fruits. Toast and packet cereals, yoghurt and Danish pastries were available, however I had just the porridge and yoghurt. I usually stay in Premier Inns which are soul less. This hotel was lovely and should I need to, I will stay again.

I had a single/small double room in the annexe. It was clean, warm and comfortable. My only comment would be that I would have liked a handrail to hold to step in to the bath, but other than that everything was very comfortable. The breakfast was well cooked and presented with a good choice. All staff I met during my stay, which I extended another night, were friendly and extremely helpful. I will stay there again when I next visit family nearby as I felt it was good value and comfortable.

As I mentioned a handrail by the bath would have been helpful.

We came up to Newcastle to visit our son for the weekend. Check-in was smooth and straightforward. We were in the annexe, which was perfect for us as we'd actually parked right outside the room we were given, so not far to go with luggage. The room was clean, and the beds were comfy. Our son and his girlfriend popped in to see us, and the lovely lady in reception was very accommodating in giving us a 'care package' of extra cups, teabags, milk and coffee sachets.

Nothing really to dislike, I was a bit surprised that there wasn't any shampoo or shower gel provided just a couple of little soaps for hand washing. But as I always bring a small shower gel just in case, it wasn't an issue

Very surprised it was so good for 2* and after some reviews I read. Its central locationin ,could walk to the hospital in 15 min.. Off road parking. Perfectly clean room.Pleasant staff. Decent size double rroom 42 in the annex. Really comfy bed and pillows. Good bathroom size with in bath shower. Small working tv. Lots of towels. Perfect for the 1 night we stayed. Didn't have the breakfast. Very reasonable price.

If your fussy you can find problems with the tile grout or very minor scuffs here and there. Having to cross the yard and going in the back door to reception. I thought it was way better than some reviews suggested and I would certainly stay again.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. I booked two rooms as my two grown up children were both staying in one and their room was very clean and spacious. Our room was also clean and comfortable. The breakfast was all very nice.

When we were at breakfast our room was cleaned although we hadn't booked out. We had left our flasks next to the kettle to fill up before checking out and when we got to the room they had been removed. We found them outside another room further along in a bag with the rubbish. We mentioned this on checking out and the receptionist was very apologetic. Was a mistake and at least we got them back.

The decor is quite outdated across the whole building. There was a low part of the ceiling in the bathroom of the room we stayed in (room 26) and there is no sign saying mind your head. My partner is 6'3" and hit his head multiple times... Also, the morning that we were checking out it was only 10am and check out was 11, a member of staff tried a key in our door to open it to clean but we were still there getting dressed, they should have knocked on first to see if anyone was still there, not very happy about that.

Firstly,all of the staff were excellent in their communication,friendliness and helpfulness-full marks to them all.We enjoyed both breakfast and evening meal twice and considered them to be not only of a good quality but also a good price.As a vegan,I was more than happy with what I had to eat,oat milk and vegan spread provided with no problem.The twin rooms were adequate for the price with comfortable beds and good power showers and flushes for the loos.

Overall,the hotel probably needs a lick of paint and a touch of tlc.The bathrooms in the guest rooms could use a shelf over the basin to provide a home for tooth cleaning products etc..The basin in Room 45 probably needs unblocking as any used water took ages to drain away.

Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The room was cosy, clean and exactly what we needed for our overnight stay. The bed was comfy and clean, great water pressure and quick to heat up shower. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant in the evening, it was delicious as well as very well priced. Our server was really friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. The quality of the food was better than some high end places we have stayed and for a fraction of the price. I'd recommend getting the breakfast there too if you stay, great options and well priced. Next time we are in the area we will be staying again!
