Wish we could give more 'points'. This place was the most amazing and pleasant accommodation in the more than 2 weeks traveling in Nicaragua. Everything was just perfect. The location (one of the small islands -Isletas- on a 15 min boat trip away from Granada with only 4 other huts), the design (beautiful colors and functionality), the staff (during the afternoon/evening English and very kind/helpful), delicious food and free use of kayaks.

We only missed the yoga teacher (the deck is there) and a water cooker/fridge in the room (but the staff was willing to store goods for us!). Internet was sometimes weak and sometimes ok (less in the rooms).

Nestled on a private island in Lake Nicaragua, this eco-resort perfectly blends natural beauty, serenity, and warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived by boat, we were captivated by the lush surroundings and tranquil atmosphere. The rooms are beautifully designed — airy, clean, and tastefully rustic, offering stunning lake views. Waking up to the sounds of birds and gentle waves was pure bliss. The staff deserves special praise. Every team member was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring guests have a wonderful stay. The food was another highlight — fresh, locally sourced, and expertly prepared, with plenty of healthy and vegetarian options. We enjoyed kayaking around the isletas, lounging by the pool, and taking in breathtaking sunsets from the deck. Highly recommended for those looking for a unique, eco-friendly escape in Nicaragua. I’d happily return in a heartbeat.

Very nice place on a remote private island. Nice views, nice food and super friendly staff. We were the only guests right after their new opening (closed due to some maintenance). So we could enjoy all facilities by ourselves. If all rooms are booked, the pool is for sure too small (only 4 sun beds). The manager Maria Jose is super friendly as well as all the other staff members. Prices are OK as you are on a remote island.

Would have been nice if it was mentioned beforehand that the tax (15%) was not included on the food and drinks. There was hot water, but not constantly. No AC in the room (which you may expect for this price), but not possible as the cabins are open air (fully covered with mosquito nets), but there was a fan. Some umbrellas at the pool would have been nice if the sun is shining.

Everything! From the beautiful private boat ride to the islet, to being warmly greeted w the staff and welcome drink, to the incredible architecture and immaculate details of every corner- this stay was exceptional. The treehouse was utterly charming- comfortable bed, open concept so you hear the nature while still having privacy. The food was the best I’ve had in Nicaragua - all locally sourced ingredients and very well presented. And everyone who worked there was so kind and passionate. I wish I had more time to stay longer. I will be back and will recommend to everyone. You’ll not only get the best experience, you’ll also capture the most beautiful photos.

Nothing - I would recommend staying here for a short stay as it is very far niente unless you would like to take the boat to visit Granada / the surroundings (extra cost)

The property is excellently maintained. No detail is overlooked. The rooms are modestly decorated with local tourist items for a field that is truly unique and Ireland modern. I appreciated the attention to minimizing waste on all fronts, from the pretty little bottles, holding conditioner and shampoo in the shower to the drinking water in repurposed glass bottles with corks and accompanying metal tumblers around the property. Our family of four adults stayed in the treehouse, using both rooms. The treehouse has a beautiful view of the patio area. The mattresses were firm and comfortable. My favorite locally sourced item was the handmade blanket on the bed, from a small family textiles co-op in Leon. All the decor is minimal and island modern. The service from the staff was exceptional. Both dinner meals we ate during our stay were excellent and we enjoyed breakfast as well. Having kayaks available to get out for a paddle was a nice option and we did a morning outing as a family.

This isn’t a critique against the property because it cannot be helped, but a guest should know in advance that since there are 25 mango trees on this tiny island, mangoes drop from the trees on average every 2 minutes. You need to be aware that one could fall on your head. Also, mangoes continue to drop all night long and onto the tin and terra cotta roofing, it is very loud. Since the treehouse rooms are “open”, you can not silence the noise.

Beautiful little island, lush and with great views. Staff is super helpful and kind. Only a few cabanas on the island, so it's really tranquil. Nice swimming pool, good food. Only 10min by boat (they pick you up) from the harbour. Would recommend coming here!

Take notion that you are in a mini jungle so there are quite some 'noises' from animals.

This was a lovely place to relax for 2 days between busy weeks of travel. The facilities were lovely. We enjoyed using the kayaks in the mornings to explore this island and others. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Henry was also interested in birds and helped us to locate 2 species of owls on the island, and to identify several other birds.

The pool was small and situated in the sun which was quite hot.

Very quiet place in the middle of nature. Staff overwhelmingly friendly and helpful. Excellent food, fresh juices, herbs and salads and of course fish from the lake. Just relax, take a swim in the lake or the pool, enjoy the sun setting behind the slopes of Mombacho volcano, and see it being illuminated by the rising sun next morning. Have a cocktail, and go kayaking around neighboring isletas.

The stuff of ‘“Isleta El Espino” is very good organised - the transfer to the island was easy and once on the island we felt like kings, every wish was fullfilled and we had some nice privacy, the food was food and it was very clean. Sleeping was also good as the whole room was bug-secured.
