We came for the artsy area and loved it all. The area was just as imagined, a former industrial area that artsy people have transformed into a warm place where everyone feels welcome. And this is utmost true of Air Osaka Hostel with its unique vibe. Writing, painting on the walls is welcome! How many hostels have that? The rest I'll leave you to discover by your own. ;) The owner Tomo and the whole staff is really nice and welcoming. Ask any question and they'll help you if they can. We had the japanese room near tge toilet. Really quiet. Not disturbing at all. I recommend Café Nams for a great cup of coffee. And check out the little park nearby. Tge cherry trees were blooming as we were there. There's also a kids playground. We were on a low budget and ate several meals in the park (bought at Lawson down the streat.) In case you haven't been to Japan before and donn't know: You can choose from a wide range of full meals at Japanese convinient stores and for a really affordable price.

I loved how sociable the hostel was and how homely it felt. It was a great location a short train journey away from Namba. The area surrounding the hostel was quiet with lots of cafes, places to eat and a big supermarket nearby. You could enjoy the peace as quiet or take a short train ride into Namba if wanting a more sociable atmosphere. The decor itself was amazing. Felt very quirky! Overall this was the best hostel I stayed at during my trip to Japan. It exceeded my expectations! I wish I could have stayed longer and would definitely recommend to others and stay again.

The bedrooms were a little too cold in the night which led to me having a really bad cold for several days. Nevertheless the communal spaces were very warm. That being said, I loved everything else about Air Osaka so only have positive things to say.

This place was a lot of fun, a classic backpacker hostel with private room options. Solo travelers are guaranteed to make friends and possibly find travel companions. The place a bit dingy by Japanese standards but not filthy by any means, my Japanese-style room was perfectly tidy when I got in and the facilities such as showers and toilets were never less than spotless.

Location may be an issue for some and appealing for others, as the place is in a quiet, working-class neighborhood far from the city center with few touristic amenities. The building is a bit run down - bits and bobs falling off - and it's adjacent to a loud, arterial road with cars roaring past day and night.

Hand-made vibe house, friendly staff, good neighbourhood, clean environment, and a full equipment kitchen. Staff gave me a map of good spots nearby, very useful.

The heating is not warm enough except from the bedroom. It will be very nice to live here in late Spring, Summer, and early Fall though, as the plants growing here should be very beautiful. Also the door's height is too low. I hit my head at the door for at least 4 times in different places. It will be better if they could put PU foam or similar sponge around the door's upper frame. About the slippers - I would suggest to allocate every tourist their specific slippers, it will be easily to recognise if they could write number on it. For now it seems people can wear whatever the slippers, which is not very healthy as you may wear the same slippers as others. And these slipper didn't seem to be washed or disinfected after use.

The private tatami room was nice and enough for what we needed. Comfy futon. We could have used a small low table (as pictured in the other private tatami room), though we hadn't tried asking/too tired to bother. I liked the shared sink area upstairs, and the shower room upstairs was always clean. Never had to wait too long. Nice and helpful staff!

The room itself was a little dusty, and the air conditioner filter could have been cleaned more (although we found this was an issue in general in older hostels/hotels). There were guests who were loud and disruptive during quiet hours, including one guest that was loudly gaming (mostly swearing and losing I guess) in the common area for more than 1 evening.

The staff was warm and welcoming. The common area was open, friendly and decorated in a fun, artistic way. Our room had built-in bunk beds, painted dark blue with curtains, this was very nice in that it provided some privacy. We are artists so we enjoyed all the artwork by previous visitors. 😊

Maybe provide a shoe rack or organization at the front door? My only (small) complaint might be that it was hard to get in because of all the shoes scattered in the entrance.

The owner is a really friendly, relaxt and helpful person. The hostel has cozy bar and area to relax, which was a really nice place to relax or eat your food and hang around. We didn't expect the showers to be that good, very hot, clean and relaxing. Very important: everything and every room in the building was really clean! We also expected the hostel to be really noisy because of all the wood, fortunately that was not the case at all. It is organized in such a way that guests who want to sleep can sleep and those who want to chat until late can do so, the owner does his best to make it comfortable for each guest. There is a soundproof door downstairs. Very big supermarket and metro station around the corner :) And I was very happy with the hot water dispenser in the kitchen so I could make tea. We stayed four nights but wish we had more time to chill in the hostel. The vibe is really good.

It felt a bit difficult to connect with the other guests in the hostel, it seemed like a more established (French) group that claimed their own corner in the hostel, I think they sit or work there for a longer period of time. It would have been great if an activity had been organized to connect with other guests, such as a game night perhaps (it was a bit hidden that you could game on an old console). This group was often very loud in the late hours, but if the door downstairs was closed properly you could hardly hear them at all. I didn't see the cat! :(

This is such a hidden gem as it's not in close to the city center but it's definitely worth visiting! The MRT takes you to Namba ans Umeda stations in 10-15 minutes and in the meantime you can enjoy absolutely amazing hostel and it's surroundings. The staff speaks great english (I've met english and french staff) and they gave me map of the area after my arrival with cool tips where to go, what to see, where to eat and so on. The vibe of this place was exceptional with drawings from previous host all over the walls, great places to hang out, nice offer of drinks at the bar and mostly - with the best Japanese experience possible = KOTATSU! Who doesn't know what that is, come here and try it on your own - you will want one of your own too afterwards <3 You can see that the owner made everything possible to make the stay pleasurable, easy and exceptional for everyone. It's hard to describe all the great stuff you get when you stay here so just do it and try it on your own.

Such a nice hostel with so much character! The staff are incredibly nice and accommodating and it is a very friendly social atmosphere. We got to hang out with the resident cat, and the staff had plenty of recommendations of things to see and do in Osaka. While it is a little bit out of the city centre the neighbourhood is very trendy and nice to walk around. The hostel is very close to the subway and a convenience store, so everything was still easy to get to. The hostel has a bar and the staff speak very good English. I will 100% stay here again next time I am in Japan! Highly recommend! Thanks for the stay Tomo!

Good location. Friendly staff. Affordable.

Lower deck bed is too low. I'm not tall but I can't even sit straight on the bed. You have to be very careful when waking up and standing you might hit your head.
