The room was comfortable and quiet at night for sleeping. Breakfast was excellent for egg lovers. An additional non-egg option for variety would be nice for those staying many nights (we were there for 5 breakfasts), for example pancakes or waffles or home made granola bowl. We ate dinner 4 nights at the pub and the food was generous, tasty and varied…as were the drinks! Location was good for many activities: Whitby, World of Iron museum, Cleveland way walks, Helmsley market and Riveaulx Abbey…not to mention walking up Roseberry Topping right next to the Inn.

It would have been nice to have access to gym facilities, or bicycles to explore the area.

Great location in a quiet village setting. Bar area is modern and well presented. Staff were all great, especially Bobby the GM who dealt with our check in and arrival information in detail and professionally. All members of staff seemed in good spirits. Our rooms were very well appointed, clean, the beds were comfortable and both had good size en-suites. Breakfast and evening meals were excellent. Drinks reasonably priced. Live entertainment on the Friday night was excellent. This was my wife and I's second visit here and would recommend. My wife's parents were both very impressed and will visit again.

Very clean and warm in rooms and the main pub. Staff were very excellent. Food was good. Our room was in the annex and whilst it was a little on the small side, it was comfy with Coffee and Tea making facilities. I will say it was a tad hot in the rooms, showing 25d on the thermostat! Our TV didn't work but we had books but then forgot to tell reception about the TV when we left! The pub has views of Roseberry Topping and the walking route to the top starts approximately 100 metres up the road from the pub. Would book again.

Being a bit persnickety, the bedroom was too hot, however the heating went off around 10pm and the broken TV. Oh and please could you offer de-caf Tea please. There were de-caf sachets of coffee but people seem to forget about the tea!

The staff where very friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much. The room was first class. Spotless and warm. Plenty of coffee and tea also very nice biscuits. Check in and out was very easy. Meals where of very good quality and very nice indeed. The whole atmosphere was very relaxing and comfortable. Defiantly returning for my future visits to Middlesbrough which will be regular for family visits.

Comfortable and clean room. Ideal location for our visit to Roseberry Topping. Good choice of food for breakfast including fresh fruit salad and cooked items.

The towel rail in our ensuite was burning hot. Despite two requests to the management to turn it down or off, it remained extremely hot during our stay. Quite dangerously so. Service at breakfast on the second day was incredibly slow despite there only being four people in the dining room

The breakfast was nice and early, very generous and served by very friendly staff. The choice of cooked breakfast was really good.

We arrived after a long walk and the meals being served were rather meager in portion size for someone who has done any exercise. I ordered moussaka and it came cold. Clearly it had been in a microwave and nobody had tested its temperature. I am not a big eater (small , elderly, woman) and I was left feeling still hungry. Thankfully the breakfast next morning was absolutely delicious and plentiful!

Warm welcome by Joey at reception. Pretty scenery. Well maintained and decorated hotel both interior and exterior with well maintained gardens. Plenty of free parking. We stayed in the family suite with our adult son and was airy and roomy with 2 separate bedrooms. A wonderful surprise!! Again well maintained and equipped with appealing decor. A variety of options for meals. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. All staff we met were friendly and professional. Definitely recommend!!!

Lovely location in the foothills of Roseberry Topping, and yet only 15 minutes drive from where we needed to be on Teesside. It's on a busy through road but the traffic noise is not an issue after about 8pm or so. Plenty of space in the car park for our works van, and a great menu with plenty of choice.

My only 'negative' comment would be that breakfast is only served from 7:30am and, since it's all cooked to order, this meant we weren't able to be on the road for 8am as is our preference.

Comfortable, lovely, friendly staff. Great location for our trip as close to relatives. We’ve stayed here before and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Too many dogs allowed in the eating area. First night staff said, dogs to remain in hard floor area of bar/restaurant. Every night after that they were allowed anywhere and in breakfast area. All bedrooms were dog friendly, I feel some rooms should be made no dogs allowed due to possible allergies of residents. It would be nice for all to enjoy.

This was perfectly situated for our plans. We hoped to climb Roseberry Topping (Which we did), and visit Saltburn the following day which we also did. It was clean, warm, well-equipped, and very comfortable. The pub was welcoming and friendly, and the evening food on offer was good too.

The only slight letdown was the "thick cut, buttered farmhouse bread" was nothing of the sort. It was two dry slices of thin-cut supermarket brown bread. I ate the eggs which were well cooked so a bonus, and politely left the dry bread. hey ho.
