For an outwardly unremarkable basic hotel room I everything I needed on this trip. Comfy bed and a real bonus was the excellent large well equipped gym and swimming pool sauna steam jacuzzi area. I went home fitter then when I arrived. There is also good countryside walk woodland trust public footpath close to the hotel. Plenty of parking which felt pretty safe and secure. Good for larger vehicles as well. Staff are great very welcoming, always busy seemed to be a well functioning and happy team of people doing a good job. Front desk and organisiation was very user friendly. I had to change my booking several times due to changing work commitments but they accommodated me comfortably and with no fuss. Minor issues with the room (bath plug broke ) were resolved very quickly. Breakfast is good set me up for the day. Dinners in the large pub bar area big screen football most nights not my thing but not the end of the world. Surprisingly good selection of bottled beers and wines. Food was really well done and sensibly priced good quality food well presented and cooked. A good size tea mug in the rooms was a pleasant surprise made me feel at home thanks

Rooms are a little dated and tired but the essentials are bang on i.e comfy bed clean linen towels and hygiene. If you are looking for a boutique hotel this is not it. but for work rest and play it hits all my marks.

Excellent leisure and swimming facilities, open very early to suit early bird’s swimming before breakfast. Staff were all very polite and very helpful. Nice bar with sports for those that like that, good selection of draught and bottled beers at fairly reasonable prices. Guests were a mix of contractors, business people annd the general public. Unusually for a large British venue, the Guinness was pretty good. Breakfast was good quality ingredients with a wide variety to suit many tastes and preferences. I heard people order decaf tea and coffee successfully. The WiFi worked well in room and public areas. TV worked perfectly. Bathroom was nicely fitted out. Plenty of towels. Complementary Yorkshire tea in the rooms - unexpected bonus and an extra star for the head of housekeeping. Rooms clean and kept that way throughout the week. Particularly impressed with the young girl on breakfast on Thursday morning. She absolutely put her heart and soul into her service and couldn’t do enough for guests.

The bedroom furniture and specifically the chair were a bit below the standard I would expect in a £80-£90 / night establishment. Only one upright desk chair, very wobbly (rm 150) but no relaxing armchair. Plenty of room for one. Shower pressure was a bit low, but adequate for purpose. Fire alarm had a couple of dicky fits on Weds evening but was eventually tamed by reception.

We liked everything and especially loved the breakfast. The staff were welcoming, check-in was easy, and the on-site leisure facilities were really handy. Parking availability was also a big plus. Even after the long drive from London, it was worth it — we’re returning guests, which says a lot. We really cannot fault the value for money.

The only downside this time was that on two of the nights there were functions. Guests were running up and down the bedroom corridors, slamming doors and making noise all night long. It made it really hard to get any proper rest, which was disappointing.

Room was fine, staff were helpful, easy to find, plenty of parking, ate food there for three of the nights and it was very good, even when we were late one evening and literally 8 of us arrived back from the darts competition with a few minutes before dinner orders closed, the staff prioritised us all and made sure we got our food, on one evening we made friends with some family members of a member of staff, played darts with their relative who had Downs syndrome and we had a really nice time.

Nothing to complain about

The rooms are a tiny bit dated, but spotless, comfee beds. The breakfast was amazing lots on offer and very tasty, we enjoyed the food. The pub on site was very good too, we tried the food and a very tasty meal. We Loved the pool and spa area, fresh towels given when you use the pool or spa. Staff all very friendly, will answer any questions when asked, they all work very hard and all look happy in their job, smiling and talking to people, making you feel very welcome. 10/10.

Just a tiny bit dated, but this did not spoil our stay at all, we would stay again, when we come into this area again.

Breakfast was plenty full and good value. The room was ample comfy and easy to get extra towels/tea/coffee. The bar food was perfect, varied and great value. Being dog friendly is key for us with two dogs and the location is perfect with surrounding land to walk the dogs. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly! And the gym/swimming pool and sauna facilities are great for our teenage boys!!

There was some rowdy guests late at night in upstairs rooms. We had to close our windows to o drown out their noise.

Only issue was the fire door. Only one or two doors from us. Room 236, the soft close on the fire door didn’t work so every time someone came in or out of this door it slammed shut with a huge bang. So it was somewhat annoying when you’re trying to sleep. Can’t imagine it being a huge thing to fix. It’s pinned open during the day but closed at night to maybe stop noise to the rooms. But this is counterproductive if it bangs shut each time someone comes or goes!! Otherwise all good

Close to travel links. Although we had to wait for evening food (very busy & chef was alone in the kitchen) it was perfectly presented, very reasonably priced & fabulous choice on the menu. The use of the spa and pool at no extra charge was great. Staff were very friendly, with the exception of the miserable chap who booked us in. Breakfast was hot and filling with plenty of choice. The sausages were amazing. The room was a good size, and the beds were very comfortable 👌

Out dated furniture in the bedroom. The only chair was badly stained. The shower dripped loudly, and the water pressure for the wash hand basin was very low. The car park was very dusty during the high winds as it was not tarmaced.

Room had adequate space and a nice view. Tea and coffee making facilities were good,plenty of milk available,supplies you could get from reception if needed,Border biscuits!!👍 Bar was cheap for 2 drinks and it had a nice seating area outside. The pool was good,however we found it on the chilly side tho this could've been because it was the last half hour,

Not much if anything at all,though wish people could be mindful when leaving their rooms,not to slam doors or folk talking loudly in corridors. Wish the shower was a pull down one for directional purposes

Everything was perfect! Simple clean rooms, welcoming friendly staff. Went for a gym, swim and jacuzzi session after 5 hour car journey in Escape Zone, then to next door Bar/ Grill ... great value, tasty food at good price and great service from staff. Quiet room so slept like a log and then another gym/ swim at 7am. Breakfast was also great ! Both gym/ swim facilities and huge breakfast were included free ... such amazing value! Will definitely stay here again!!

The only thing I can fault is that there was no muesli at breakfast! But they had everything else including huge sausages and black pudding!
