I was in the area for a golf day at nearby Rockliffe Hall. This was a good location for me, only around 20-25 minutes in the morning. When I arrived (around 11pm in the evening) reception was closed but there was a number to call and a very friendly night porter opened up for me and checked me in. He explained the hotel facilities and let me know about the leisure centre etc. Unfortunately I arrived too late and had to leave too early to use the gym & pool, but that was my fault as apparently it's superb! Clean!! Spacious twin room. Comfortable twin bed. Area seems safe and the car park was well lit. Powerful shower.

The room was fine other than creaky floorboards and it was a bit too hot. Adjusting the radiators didn't seem to do much, but thankfully it was a cool evening so opening the window sorted that issue. Plug sockets are few and far between and not located in the best spaces. Could do with updating that and having some USB sockets maybe too for easier charging.

Location was great and close to town, carpark was good and had spaces. The WIFI was super fast and very reliable. My Room had a large ceiling fan which was effective and quiet. The attached gym and sauna was also used and found to be quite nice and relaxing.

Breakfast was not available to 7 so had to grab a coffee and toast. The mattress on the bed was very tired and it ended up sagging on the base board, but it was a big bed and i did complain but the hotel was full so not able to swap rooms, other than that i could not fault it.

Loved everthing. My 2 boys spent hours in the pool. Staff were very friendly. Very clean and a good location.

One gentlemen was being quite rude to my 2 boys in the pool telling them not to mess around. He was effing and blinding at them. My kids who are 5 and 9 did not tell me at the time. They told me after and said they just ignored him. Im glad I raised my kids well because I would have certainly said something. It would have been nice if the Tv in the room was smart. Could have enjoyed some Tv time with kids at night but still really happy.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The facilities were lovely and well looked after, you can get towels when using the facilities which saves having to bring them down, all freshly washed and dried for you. We stayed in the Preston suite and we were pleasantly surprised at the size of them room. The cleanliness was amazing throughout the whole hotel, we came as a couple this time but have booked again to take the kids, it's a nice getaway whether it be as a couple or a family. Great pubs and food options close Although the on site restaurant is more than good enough, with everything reasonably priced. The staff were nice enough to grab us some cutlery as we had ordered take out food to our room but needed forks after the restaurant had closed, no problem in providing us with these.

We enjoyed staying somewhere with a bit more personality than the hotels we usually stay in. We are a family of four and had two rooms next to each other - both were good. The breakfast on the Friday was nice (better than on the Thursday). There was plenty of parking and our children loved the pool. The staff were mostly really lovely, especially the poor cleaning lady who was very nice about our son being sick on the bed!

The confirmation email said there would be a hairdryer in the room so I didn’t take one. There wasn’t one, and nor was there a phone to call down for one so I had to go to reception with wet hair to ask for one there. My husband’s room did have a phone but there was no information about how to use it, if you could order room service using it etc (turns out it’s ‘0’ for reception). I wouldn’t have minded those things but what really put a bit of a dampener on our stay was the unpleasant night porter who checked us out on the morning we left, at about 7am.

Lovely clean hotel, staff very friendly and polite, breakfast was amazing and plentiful. Paid extra for an early check in which was ready when we arrived at 11.30.

The mattress needs replacing, quite an uncomfortable night due to dip in the mattress and springs! The spa facilities good but definitely need some money spending on it to update the tiles around the pool.

Rachel on reception was super friendly and helpful. The room was nicely modernised and the addition of a fan was welcome. We didn't use the restaurant but it looked very welcoming. Communal areas nicely renovated since our last visit too.

There was a couple in the room next door having a huge fight late at night. The night porter escorted the female downstairs, and Rachel booked her a taxi. However, the male was on the phone screaming at the female at 7am and wouldn't shut up for over an hour. Poor Rachel had to try and defuse the situation, but we feel it would've been safer and more comfortable for her if the older male night porter was still on shift. Or maybe have a 2 warning policy for disruptive guests who should then be physically removed. No fault of your staff but our sleep was massively impacted.

The staff were very welcoming on check in and on the bar when we got a drink, we even spoke to housekeeping who couldn't do enough. The rooms were clean, had good facilities & nice bits of attention to detail, plus the shower had power!. The leisure facilities were some of the nicest range I've seen and were a complete bonus to staying here. Please look after the chef because food in the restaurant was fabulous. The tomato soup was the best I've ever had, fish and chips delicious and tried my daughters carbonarra which was cooked to perfection. The service was great and the young lad waiting on had a great personality too and I'm glad it shone through, service for a company can sometimes become professional but regimented. A great team doing a great job.

Not a lot, if I had to be really picky I'd say bathrooms could do with an up date (bit old fashioned) & bedrooms a bit plain/basic could do with a plant or two!

Breakfasts were lovely. Staff were great. Pool was warm, but jacuzzi was broken. Spa area was beautifully hot and the steam room was extremely hot - so good! Almost as hot as the saunas in Austria and Germany! Probably the best one I have experienced in the UK! The sauna was normal UK temperature though - I would have liked this to be hotter like traditional European saunas.

The major downfall was that the changing rooms blasted freezing cold air from the vents, so all 3 children got the sniffles.

The staff are kind and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean. We enjoyed the breakfast. The spa area was nice, there's building work going on at the hydro area but everything else was working fine

It's not a big thing but waiting staff had a tendency to kick doors which had lead to some damage to the door in the restaurant which made it look unloved
