Agua Azul is a beautiful and hospitable B&B. Frank and Amy are excellent hosts. Breakfasts were simple, delicious and healthy. The location is a bit further from the main town area but don’t let that dissuade you - of all the bays and beaches in the Huatulco area, the little one directly below AA is perhaps the nicest with lots of shady trees to plop yourself under You’ll also find nice swimming and good snorkeling. But access to the beach is a bit difficult and would be a challenge to anyone with even minor mobility issues, or elderly. The bed was a bit too hard but the view made up for it ! The little restaurant next door was fantastic too

Very peaceful and relaxing. It was so nice to hear the birdsong and the sound of the surf with our morning coffee on the terrace. Amy is a wealth of information and a generous hostess. There are 3 beautiful beaches in the area you can walk to and they are not crowded.

The only downside is that the property is somewhat isolated and you have to take a taxi to get to town (100 pesos each way), but that is why it is so lovely and quiet. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance for lunch and dinner and Amy sets you up for the morning with a nice continental breakfast.

Amy and Francisco are amazing B&B owners. They let you feel like you are visiting their home in such a comfortable, relating way. This is a very small hotel - lots of quiet private time. The pool is refreshing in the consistently sunny and hot Huatulco climate. PS - ask Francisco if you can join him on his 6AM hike across 3 beaches!

We loved Agua Azul - but folks should know that you will either have long walks into town (which we enjoyed) or taxi. Each taxi came quick to the hotel. But realize that with peace comes that.

Amy and Frank are the amazingly friendly and informative hosts of their beautiful hillside BNB. They have a gorgeous spacious dining room off a big kitchen and are prepared to loan out beachchairs, snorkels, sunblock, coolers with bottles of ice, books. The continental breakfast of fruit, yogurt, granola, breads and boiled eggs was the perfect way to start a morning while gazing down past the garden and pools to the beautiful blue ocean. The garden is full of birds (which sometimes sip out of the swimming pool), iguanas and butterflies, a tranquil sanctuary.. Amy is a mellow and helpful concierge for info on tours, taxis, beaches, shopping, Oaxaca City (which she loves). She makes everyone feel very much at home. Our fellow travelers were very interesting as well and we had great conversations over breakfast. Frank went out and fastened a rope between trees on the steep path down to a pristine empty beach nearby. He is a very active and congenial host with knowledge of many parts of Mexico.

This was such an unexpected gem! Amy is such an amazing host - full of stories & tips & really welcomes you as guests in her home. Breakfasts were fresh & healthy & delicious. Great jumping off point for activities in Huatulco.

The only downside is that it is about a 10 min drive from most other activities & the town. There are two restaurants within walking distance, but anything else requires a taxi drive of about $80-100 pesos (@$6 USD). It is perfect if you just want to lounge at the beach for a few days, though.

I loved being in a quiet residential area, super close to a quiet beach, and within a walk or 20 minute cab ride to other beaches, la crucita, chedraui super market and local shopping spots.

My only very slight complaint would be the shower head in our bathroom, it could do with an upgrade, it could only manage a few streams of water, and very low pressure. I appreciate that this saves water, but it was real tough to actually wash my hair and get the sand out of the nooks and crannies, so I spent longer in there than I imagine I would with a better shower head.

The place was beautiful. My room was very comfortable and clean. It had a nice pool and the view is amazing. You can walk down to a super beach with hardly anyone on it. The hostess was extremely friendly and gives lots of good advice about the area.

Welcoming extremely helpful host. Delicious breakfasts and sea views. Amy was generous with helpful advice and information and even lent us snorkeling gear. It was a great mix of relaxation and adventure. Our local beach was a short walk away and it was quiet, safe for swimming and beautiful.

Comfortable, clean and quiet place to stay. Host is very welcoming and attentive. Beautiful views.

No walking distance convenient stores. But I think it is the trade off for quiet place to rest.

My wife and I could not have found a more peaceful place to celebrate our honeymoon. Agua Azul la Villa is located close to the centro, but far enough away that the adjacent beach is not crowded. Our room — and all the other rooms — had a great view of the ocean. Each room has a large patio area equipped with a hammock. The architecture and landscaping is very charming as well. Amy, the owner and host of Agua Azul, was extremely helpful and kind. We leaned on her a lot for advice and local knowledge while in Huatulco. The complimentary breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, orange juice, granola, and pan dulce. The breakfast really good, and it was a nice experience to start the day eating in the common room with a view of the ocean. Lastly and most importantly, the over all cleanliness of the hotel was exceptional.
