We enjoyed our stay at Grand Mercure Medan very much. The room is spacious, well-kept and comfortably furnished. We stayed in the room 1016, from 14/09 until 19/09. The breakfast buffet is delicious, and offers enough different variations, either local or international options. Fresh fruits are also always served. The hotel's staff were really helpful, friendly and accommodating. On our first dinner, there was some inconvenient disorganisation, which caused our meals and drinks to arrive very late and in an incorrect order (the starter and the main dish arrived at the same time). However, the duty manager at the time, Mr. Amba, immediately gave their explanations and apologies. when they found out about my wife’s birthday, Mr. Amba and his friendly customer-oriented staff did not fail to give her some very lovely attention during our next dinner at the hotel! Thank you so much for all your kindness and lovely service, Mr. Amba, Miss Rizka, Miss Nova, and the other staff! You made our stay at Mercure very memorable!

This time we were given a room at 8th floor this time. We love the cleanliness of the room, including the bed, the carpet, the towels and all. Last year we stayed at the 10th floor. Experience was better.

Would improve our experience if the below can be done: 1. The shower - They come with separate hot / cold water faucets, old and difficult to control. Suggest to change to water mixer. 2. No mineral water provided in the room. 1 jug of water provided, not sure what water is that. 3. No coffee was provided in the room. 4. Breakfast buffet - the quality seems to have degraded, compared to last year. Introduce minor daily change in menu would to give fresh feel. The selection of kueh sections was better last year.

Everything … a special commendation for all the staff .. they are very friendly, pleasant and accommodating. They make conversation with everyone. The food at breakfast tastes really good. Knowing that we like nasi goreng with Pete and ikan Teri… the next day it was made specially for us and was presented beautifully. A lovely and memorable stay. Thank you all.

Perhaps just a suggestion that the table cloth at breakfast to be changed for every time there’s change of customers. I understand it was hard to do so. But, you can modify the table cloth that has Velcro tape, thus it can be easily removed without needing to lift the umbrella pole. Alternatively no need table cloth at all. Just a placemats would do as then it would be easy to wipe the placemats and table clean. Our table cloth was dirty, full of sauces from previous customers hence hygiene was compromised.

Breakfast was fabulous - great variety and fresh ! Facilities - pool - gym etc were first class. Internet was reliable - I was able to work with no connection problems. Staff looked after us from start to finish and always helped with our kids. Hotlan was superb and looked after us from start to finish. Great service by all staff from start to finish - in a busy city this is the perfect place to relax and unwind - can not recommend it highly enough.

The staff was very friendly, I loved the big room & comfy bed. The breakfast was simply amazing and had a ton of oprtions, sweet & savoury, also for a vegan/vegetarian diet. Loved it!

There is a little mosque close by. If you're very sensitive to "noise" but it didn't bother me at all & I believe that it is hard to find a quieter place in downtown Medan.

Hospitable front desk and concierge , breakfast spread , clean comfy and large room space particularly the well set-up study table . Well decorated lobby , landscape at the main entrance of hotel, welcome drinks were served upon chec-in

Water closet water supply was not clear - appears like fine sedimentation , Messy hotel surroundings , hazardous footpath on the public road outside the hotel , crossing the street nearby was a nightmare . Vehicle entry and exit is narrow . Do not expect a shopping mall within walking distance

The decor of the lobby and common spaces was very lovely and the attention from the front desk staff and housekeeping was superb.

The was a mildewy smell to the room and two of the water sources in the bathroom constantly leaked. Dining onsite was frustrating, as we abandoned by staff in empty restaurant. we had to get up several times to find a server to request assistance.

Ibnu, the supervisor at breakfast time was very friendly and chatty. He has good interpersonal skills and conduct his mannerism in a very professional way. Everyone is actually really good.

Specifically mentioned we wanted NON-SMOKING ROOM. Reception was offering a room that can be smoking or non-smoking. Further, saying it was only a ‘request’ that can only be honoured upon check in. Then, what’s the point of having the specific box to indicate preference. Loosing the room key cost Rp50k, we got charged. Then found out that communication with breakfast attendants and receptionist were lacking. They returned our key to the receptionist. Appreciate the call for check out reminder at 12o’clock. Again, our agreement that our check out time was at 1pm was not in the system. I found that there should be a better communication among employees to avoid any embarrassment of appeared to be unprofessional conduct.

Location is not convenient, nothing interesting nearby hotel, like shops, walking street . As hotel is located on the busy road, even at night you can hear noise from the bikes, car... Hotel is not new, need refreshing. If you come not for business but for holidays and relax it is not the best choice

We stayed in the hotel for a week. The staffs are wonderful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was fabulous. Salute to Mr. Hotman, Mr. Ari and one of the manager (I forgot his name)... and all the staff that we encountered. My son and I really enjoyed our staying there. We do not know when we will return to Medan again but we will definitely stay in Grand Mercure when we do.

The separation between the smoking and non-smoking should be more clear. We understand that the hotel cannot tell people to stop smoking even in the restaurant, but at least clear accommodation for those who cannot stand the smoke should be provided.
