The room was lovely, really spacious and beautifully decorated. We travelled with friends and their rooms were also beautiful and spacious. Great staff and lovely food, really good breakfast. Location is perfect,, in the centre of everything but still fairly quiet.

We were there on New Years Eve and stayed in the hotel for the celebration. This was a bit lackluster compared to other places we have been for NYE. There was a DJ but he was pretty much mute for the entire evening, I don't think he said a word and certainly not at midnight!! The event lacked atmosphere even though the dining room is lovely.

Everything about our stay and eating at Purchases was quite exceptional. We were with American friends to see a play at the theatre and selected Purchases initially for it's combination of location and boutique vibe. From the moment of welcome through to every contact with bar or restaurant staff it was clear they were friendly, bright and extremely well trained. They always went the extra mile to make you feel important - to the extent that when we didn't have enough time to finish deserts before the theatre, they kept them and ensured they were fresh and delicious on our return. The dinner menu had an extensive selection and the breakfast fare was superb and cooked to order. The rooms (they only have 5) made creative use of relatively small spaces, with an incredibly comfy bed and state of the art bathroom fittings with extremely hot and high pressure water. I don't know what else you could ask for. I will be recommending this place to everyone, as will our American friends who rated it one of the best establishments they had visited. We will definitely be back soon and, instead of looking for a hotel to accompany the theatre, it will be finding a play to see as an excuse to stay here again.

Perhaps the bar could have stayed open a bit later - but it was a Monday night and the staff had had a long day, and we probably were sated!

A beautiful Regency house, very elegant. My room was very well decorated to a high standard, especially the lovely turquoise fabrice bedhead, and pretty scallop wallpaper. Nice touches were flasks of water and real glasses. I liked the fact there were plenty of magazines and information available for guests.

A bit of street noise filtered up, I am a light sleeper but for some this would not have been a problem. As the weather was pretty warm, I would have liked to have been able to turn off the towel heater in the bathroom - a minor frustration. The internet connection isn’t great but seemingly that’s throughout Chichester.

Fabulous central location. The rooms were spacious, and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was huge and freshly cooked. The customer service we received was excellent, and the staff were so friendly and accommodating.

That the stay was so busy and short for us that we unfortunately didn't get the opportunity to have an evening meal, as we'd heard that the food was lovely. We'll just have to visit again.

Very central location, close to all amenities all within walking distance, including the Cathedral. The breakfast was fabulous and the lady who looked after us was very accommodating as one of our party was vegan. The evening meal that we had was superb. The chef is exceptional and also catered for our vegan diner.

Nothing really, but if I have to say one thing, it would be the flights of stairs to get to the rooms. It would be difficult if you have accessibility issues.

Location is great right in the middle of the high street close to bars and restaurants. Parking was easy only a two minute walk away from hotel. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Room was beautifully decorated, great size and comfy bed! Lovely garden which we sat in for both drinks of an evening and breakfast. We also had dinner one night which was lovely and especially liked our happy anniversary sorbet!

We had issues with no hot water on most of the days we stayed. Feature bath in the room but couldn’t use it as the water was too cold to bathe in. Would have preferred more choice for breakfast but understand why a smaller option due to only having a few guests staying.

The rooms feel pretty detached to me - you walk up past a floor used by an external company as an office. I was perhaps just imagining more of a hotel and less of a few rooms above the restaurant type atmosphere but if that’s what you’re looking for it’s convenient & functional.

Great breakfast, with very helpful staff. No lift, which was not a problem for my wife and I, but may be for some people. Was not told of this before hand. Location was on a pedestrian only area. great to walk to shops, but no parking. Public pay carpark close by but with the one way system, a pain.

No room service or staff on sight at night.

A fabulous stay from the moment we arrived. Met by a very helpful young man at reception who was friendly and courteous and did me the courtesy of carrying our case up to our room. All the staff were friendly, breakfast was exceptional and had a good chat with the manager Paul, who was again very friendly, helpful and professional. Fabulous visit and would definitely stay again.

Their is a bit of noise late at night due to a pub being right opposite and our room overlooked it but that isn't the hotels fault.

The building is fabulous the bar staff are all fun. I think because the building is shared the tatty state of the carpet on the staircase is a real shame. The tenants need to club together and sort that out. It’s a big cost but when everything is about presentation then that does let it down.
