The hostel is located in the center of Banska Bystrica. There are shops, bars and restaurants nearby. It takes about 15 minutes on foot to get to the bus station. The stuff is nice, the wifi works fine, the kichen is well equipped. Bonus points for the flamingo bedding ;)

The only thing I'd improve is the number of bathrooms. There's only one, so sometimes I had to wait for my turn, which was inconvenient. Other than that, my stay was very nice.

Gran Hostel is located at the city centre which makes it very convenient for walking in the city or going out for dinner. It's value for money is reasonable. I stayed in a dorm which was also provided with a sort of living room that was very pleasant.

I wasn't happy about the cleanliness of the place. Kitchen towels looked dirty. Taps and basins around the bathroom were quite worn out. Also there is only one shower and two toilets for the entire floor.

The provided towels are smelly. It is really unpleasant to use it on your body after shower. There is only one bathroom which is not enough for the number of hosts (capacity of 6 beds in 2 rooms + other extra rooms). You are being given lockers and keys but these keys can open all lockers in the room. There is a smell of cigaret almost all the time coming from the yard outside.

I studied in Banská Bystrica and I am regularly coming back to the city. The hostel is an ideal facility for groups of friends or solo travelers, located very good in the city centre, also for very good price. Also WiFi was working good. The facilities were ok and clean, the value for money is good. After my stay I got directly call from the owner checking if everything was fine - I really appreciate that. Next time Im in Bystrica, I will most probably stay there again.

Just one technical thing - the website on booking.com shows the possibility of breakfast for 7€ at the facility, which is not possible/not served anymore. It's no big deal, but I just recommend to change that.

The location is just perfect. Everything is within walking distance from the hostel. The beds did not creak, the mattress was comfortable. Bed linen, towels are clean. The hostel itself is also very clean. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. There are several board games. The price/quality ratio is good 👍

The hostel residents were laughing very loudly in the courtyard after 11 p.m. Perhaps it is worth reminding each guest separately to keep quiet at night. Also, the cigarette smoke from the courtyard goes straight into the window.

I didn't expect much to be honest but I was positively surprised. The dorm room was big and the bed was comfortable. They have lockers and small curtains to have some privacy. Communal bathroom was clean and had good water pressure. Wifi was good. Excellent location and easy to find. Staff didn't speak much English but good enough to handle basic stuff.

The only thing I didn't like was the fact that there is a music bar right behind the hostel, so in the evening it was sometimes a bit noisy when I had to work on my laptop.

Location is everything! Half block from the city center. Lots of restaurants and touristic atraccions nearby. Not far from train and bus station (20 min by walking, 3 min in taxi). They let me check in earlier and that gave me the oportunity to enjoy more time in the city. Reception employee dind't speak fluent english bu he did EVERYTHING to unterstand and be understood. Beds where not the best i've slept on in my life but they were far from bad (didn't gave me any pain in my back/waist), and the pillows were HEAVEN! Kitchen and bathroom are shared and they are OK. It's a safe place, front door is closed after 19 hs and you have your own key to enter to the hotel and another key to enter to your room. I didn´t tried breakfast

Of course this is not hotel's fault, but there is a pizza place on the street right next to the hotel and some kind of night club in front of it. I stayed for two nights (Saturday and Sunday). Saturday night all screams and loud voices all night long on the streets (and from other guests in the shared rooms) but i usually sleep listening music with my earphones, so the noise was not a problem for me. Sunday night was much more quieter. Light sleepers should keep this in mind. Also, in my Booking.com reservation details was not especified that i will have to pay a city tax in cash at the property.

The place was cozy and provided enough places to socialize, have fun or simply just be by yourself enjoying a book. The facilities like bathrooms and kitchen were clean.

Maybe as it is located in an old building, it had a little bit of stench, which could be ventilated by opening a window. The cold air came in, which not everybody liked. Or maybe other travellers could care for their hygiene a little more.

It was a nice hostel, good atmosphere. I was so happy I could cook my own food.

In Saturday night it is very noisy all night with people going out and the weather was warm, so my window was open on the streetside. So I did not sleep all night. There are other rooms that do not have that problem. 2 euro per night per person was added to the bill.

Location is good. It is few steps away from the main attractions. Wifi is good. Staff is friendly and would help us to carry our luggage. Very cozy room and kinda spacious. We can stuff our foods inside the fridge too.

The utensils not as clean. Have to wash with soap again before usage. Only have one toilet for shower, one for toilet bowl so you have to wait for others to use the toilet when its peak hour. But the issue is small.
