Absolutely everything! The owners are hands-on and so friendly. All the staff are very friendly. The breakfast is cooked by the owner and is delicious. The room was divine, my daughter and I loved our overnight stay. The bathroom is lovely and I especially loved the hanging basket. The little bar fridge was well stocked and I like the fact that there’s an honesty bar with access to alcoholic drinks. Having filter coffee in the room in the morning was absolutely wonderful! The gardens are phenomenal and I could spend hours walking through and looking at all the beauty. What a quaint and beautiful place to stay. We will be back!!! And also we will recommend this place to everyone.

Wow!!!! What an absolute gem of a place! We will most definitely be returning when in the area again! We loved the beautiful surroundings, gardens and architecture with the most exquisite artworks throughout. Attention to detail was most appreciated. The comfortable beds with block out blinds and absolute peacefulness at night allowed for a wonderful nights rest. The breakfast in the morning was 5 star, most delicious offerings and excellent coffee. The hosts and staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home. We cannot wait to return! A little piece of paradise!

Unfortunately, we had to leave early to catch our next flight to Cape Town, so we missed the breakfast for that day— but that was no fault of the property owners. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would be happy to return again.

The breakfast was very good. The facilities were excellent. The service from the owners were excellent. They are very accommodating to help us with changing to suit us as a family. They allowed us to use sitting room to meet with family. Thank you.

Only the electric gate that jumps a small bit once opened. Giving you the idea of closing as you go out.

Good communication from our host Lelania, she made us feel right at home. Our room was beautifully decorated and we had everything we needed. The room opens out to a gorgeous little garden with quaint seating areas which is very relaxing. Breakfast was also really good and the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Good strong WiFi too.

This oasis in the middle of Irene is an absolute gem! We stayed here for my daughter's bachelorette evening and loved it. Thank you to the hosts who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were there to patiently answer any questions we had. The cherry on the top was the outstanding breakfast freshly and lovingly made by the hosts. I highly recommend this venue for a night or two away or a special occasion.

Decor and ambiance are done really nicely; Irene is a green area, which blends in nicely with the look and feel of this place. Perfectly located in Irene also - close to Irene Link (shopping/convenience) and the farm! The breakfast is made fresh for you every morning by the lovely hostess/owner (she had made a lovely frittata). There’s also a nice, little spread available with some fruit etc. And if you’re stopping for the night at Bastion House during a long trip, you can even spoil yourself a bit at their available city Spa. The owners, husband and wife, are very friendly and welcoming; they truly make you feel at home, even if you’re just there for the night. We even got gifted a whole bottle of locally made hot sauce, which my husband loved during breakfast. So attentive!! 10/10, will definitely back!

Our room was incredible. There was clear attention to detail when it was designed and everything about it felt so intentional, from the lighting style to the furniture. It was comfortable and had all the amenities as advertised. Also breakfast was great!

Towels were clean but very musty smelling. We had booked a room with twin beds but the booking.com website did not relay this info to Bastion House.

Very personal... Having filter coffee in the room, little welcome treats on the bed and refreshment upon arrival.... They have off-grid facilities which is essential during load shedding. Rooms are clean, beautiful decor and beds are comfortable. Breakfast freshly made with super friendly service. Gave me a sense of peaceful atmosphere. Loved it.
