I loved to share the outdoor space with animals. The pool location is lovely, as well as the garden. The location in Dinokeng is great for game drives. The bed was really comfortable and the food at the lodge restaurant was very good. The staff was very helpful and nice.

You can't have a night safari when you arrive late in the afternoon. You can't have a breakfast when you go for a morning safari.

I loved the friendliness of the reception and ground staff and all the Rangers. The hospitality was great and the experience felt personal and special. They paid attention to all details. The facilities are welcoming and I love that they have animals roaming around the lodge. I loved the professionalism and how the rangers always keep time and treat you like family. Andrew, Charlie and Kyle were amazing rangers and Dominic, Asa & Lucy were very helpful. I would highly recommend booking a full package experience here.

The only thing that I was unhappy with was the service at the restaurant, atleast 2 of the waiters were rude and impatient with us. I will not mention names but that left a sour taste as they do not respresent everyone else’s friendliness and professionalism. Apart from that, the food was delicious!

The staff are absolutely amazing, from the welcoming staff/porters, to description, bartenders, waiters, ground staff everyone was incredible.

The menu needs to be carefully reconsidered or else chefs sent for training, all of the fish or vegetarian dishes were disappointing. It appears the kitchen staff are more comfortable with pub grub type food which they do very well, but for the price you do expect some level of fine dining.

The rooms very comfortable , the staff were helpful ( the housekeeper was absent for the most part and never really did anything except make the beds ) the game rangers were excellent

The housekeeper could have cleared away cups and glasses and cleared the dustbins instead of just making the bed . She just hung around on her phone waiting for us to vacate the room in the morning

Dinner was slow Leaving Mongena was a headache because of the stupid levy per person, that was annoying and took so much time, should be added to account to save time, having to download app and then the payment method was problematic , my guests were not happy Also asked for a specific ranger a week before and when we got there didn't get him, was disappointing

We enjoyed every moment. Lovely boutique African bush lodge, easy going vibe, good facilities, friendly staff offering consistent service and excellent guides on the game drives. We did 6 game drives and all meals were included on a 3 night stay which was fabulous and great value The restaurant was very flexible and accommodated my dietary needs. The bar area was inviting and drink prices were very reasonable. The Lodge is spread out over well kept grounds, you feel very peaceful as it's not overcrowded even when fully occupied. The pool area is abundant in bird life and buck and zebra etc roam the grounds. Would definitely recommend and come back!

A small aircon unit in the upstairs family room would be a bonus

Game Drive with Louis was great. Informative and eager to find animal sightings for us. Hot water bottle was a warm welcome on our chilly early morning drive. Breakfast, lunch and dinner selection was great and will meet most requirements.

At our arrival, we were advised that we were in one particular room however the room wasn't yet available and we will be advised that when we can "move" into the room. During lunch, our waiter informed us that we were now moved to another room which was not anything like the initial room we were in. There is no outside patio to sit at and watch the resident animals. We weren't to happy about this. Breakfast selection: The only issue I experienced is that the waiter was not clear on that fact that we could choose from the cold and hot breakfast selection. By the time we realised we could order from the cold selection, there was no pastries available.

We enjoyed the game drive and that we were given fleece blankets and hot water bottles to keep warm especially for the morning game drives. Loved the boat cruise experience. The cherry on top was my birthday surprise, which made my day extra special.

The fact that the toilet in the room had a stain. I was disappointed that there was no boma fire for us to relax by the bar. I was also disappointed that I couldn’t have a mimosa for breakfast as the restaurant doesn’t make mimosa’s even for a special occasion. Lastly, the bacon that we had for breakfast was burnt and eggs not cooked according to our requirements.

Staff at Mongena are well trained and extremely welcoming. The rooms look newly renovated and very comfortable beds. There are a few finishes not complete, for example no towels or rails in the separate toilet. The food was delicious. Our game drive and our ranger, Charl, were just simply the best. We saw lots of animals and birds and learnt a lot about the wildlife there.

That we didn't stay longer!

The hotel itself was wonderful. The breakfast, lunch and dinner options were great and the alcohol prices were very cheap. Our room and the location exceeded all expectations. Each of our game drives were amazing, Stefan was superb at explaining everything we came across and kept us all entertained during the chilly mornings.
