It is tastefully decorated. We had access from our room to the garden, with outside table and chairs. The linen was crisp and fresh and the King bed SO comfortable. There was an electric blanket on the bed 😀. Wall heaters in the room. Very Good lighting. Beautiful comfy chairs to relax. It was a 3 minute walk to the centre of town where we had dinner and the best fillet steak ever. Parking at the B&B was safe and right outside our room. The breakfast was good. We were there under difficult personal circumstances and Isabel our host was so kind and empathetic.

There was nothing that we did not like.

We had a wonderful stay ! We had communicated in advance and arrived around 9 PM on a rainy night. Despite the weather, they warmly greeted us and even gave us a tour of our room. The room was cozy, and the bed linens were of excellent quality. The hot water was truly hot, and I had a very relaxing shower. That night, we fell asleep to the soothing sound of rain, which created the perfect white noise for a deep sleep. The next morning, we woke up to a beautiful view outside our window, which was a lovely way to start the day. Although we hadn’t originally planned to have breakfast, the delicious aroma from other guests’ meals lured us in. I highly recommend booking breakfast in advance to ensure the kitchen has enough time to prepare the ingredients. The only downside was the weather during our stay – the rain kept us from enjoying the outdoor garden, but that’s beyond anyone’s control. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would love to return!

George itself is more of a business town than a tourist destination but it is well-placed as a base to visit elsewhere, and is apparently famed throughout Germany as golf course central for the Western Cape. Although there is not much crime in the town, the property is gated, with the best parking spots double-gated. Many restaurants are walkable by daylight, and Uber is active all day and after dark. Very much the creation of its multi-lingual owner-manager, who goes out of his way to make you welcome.

We stayed in the height of summer and felt the absence of aircon. The breakfast regime is not relaxed, with advance ordering required.

The stunning views on to the mountain, the clean, beautiful and comfortable rooms. Close to all the shops, close to the botanical garden, which allowed us to enjoy walks from the property! The common areas of the property (eg breakfast room, lounges) are spacious, light and charming! We felt extremely comfortable. The neighbourhood is pretty and safe!

Everything was amazing!

Absolutely beautiful property! Great beds, pillows, great breakfast (!!) and beautiful, quiet and safe surroundings. Everything was so well organized and Isabel was so lovely and accommodating; helping us with everything and giving great advice. A warm safe haven! A big shout out to the housekeeping ladies who did an amazing job. Highly, highly recommend!!

Can’t think of anything

Wow! We feel so lucky to have booked this stay with Oude Berg Guest House. We enjoyed meeting the owner and staff who truly cared about our comfort and overall experience. The outdoor grounds were exceptionally lush and peaceful . The room was spacious and beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was made to order and we felt pampered ! Great location too.

The room was very pleasant, clean and quiet and there was safe parking. The property is exceptionally well located for access to the George business district and hospital. The building, dining room and lounge areas are very beautiful. Staff did everything possible to make sure our stay was a good one.

There was a bit of building going on, but the owner and staff ensured that this was not a big problem. It will surely be finished quite soon.

When you serve breakfast make sure to plate the bring out everyones order simultaneously. Only the two of us then the toast then his order and then minutes later my omelet. The matras was too small for the bedbase. Kept on banging my shins against the bedbase.

Very beautiful house, full of charm and stunning decoration ! The garden was big and the the shared area where also large and very welcoming. The room was including everything necessary and furnished with style.

A fridge in the room could have been appreciated but we also did not ask if it was possible to store anything in a commun fridge, which I am sure, should be possible.

The property is lovely. The room was really lux and spacious. The bathroom had a bath and a walk in shower which was great. We really appreciated the aircon in the room. Bed linen was crisp white and sooo comfy.

The only negative thing would be that you can here the people in the room nextdoor. luckily they were not super noisy so it didnt bother us to much.
