Hotel and stuff on reception is great. Unfortunately food in the restaurant wasn't acceptable. More then an hour waiting time for food, 20 minutes waiting time for water, wine and latte.. It was only one customer in the restaurant on my arrival. Restaurant was completely empty from guests.. Food not testy. Lamb impossible to chew, sirloin steik was asked to serve without any souses. I asked waiter to write it down in his note book. Sous arrived in top of the steik anyway.. Pizzas was just terrible. Still cold in the middle shop frozen base. Bill was ZAR 1300. I would 100 % reccomend to dine in different restaurant. Another minus that whole night it was music on the reception floor. Soft playing music but great disturb for sleep. The main problem is restaurant. Brrrr.... I understand that my message won't change the situation but may be help to other guests avoid this experience. Location is great, territory is nice. Staff is nice.

Excellent location next to the Big Hole - which is so worth going to see and doing the tour. Very clean hotel and friendly staff. Great value for money, both the room and bathroom were great. Beautiful decor in the hotel of the history!

Small things - perhaps a bigger pool for adults to swim in. Staff to be a bit quicker during dinner service and better knowledge on the menu and drinks available. A side curtain in the rooms would be great - to get light into the room during the day, but still have privacy, as many rooms look into your room window. These are small suggestions - will most certainly stay there again!

The hotels dinner, we ordered grilled Hake, and they gave us haddock instead. Not telling us. We could taste it immediately. We called the waitress, told her the problem. She went to the kitchen and ask the chef. She came back and told us we were correct. They should have told us that there was no Hake, and given us the choice of selecting something else. No apologising from the chef It was done in such a bad way

Thank you to the chef, prepared Halaal meals for me. I had to book in earlier than expected as I wasn't feeling too well on arrival and ended up paying an extra R600 but that was ok. The chef cooked me wonderful meals throughout my stay. I had wonderful pot of honey, ginger, lemon tea brought to my room with a veggie burger and fries excellent. Met the cheff on my night of stay and he was happy to cater to my requests. The staff was Super friendly and assisted to my every need. The location was 5min from the conference I attended.

The hotel is conveniently located next to the big hole. The design suits the buildings at the hole. When you step in it has a luxurious feel and we were welcomed by the staff. The room was squeaky clean. It met our needs for the night.

The restaurant is a bit of a let down during breakfast specifically. We had to move our own tables together to have enough seating. We then had to call someone to set up cutlery. No coffees served we had to call someone again. Bad breakfast service overall. After raising awareness to the manager we barely had time to eat...we were inundated with waiters every 5 mins....

I took my daughters on a roadtrip and we said lets go and explore what they learned in school in history and geography. We choose Kimberley for the Big Hole and Diamonds exploration. all 3 children when I put the option of a hotel stay jumped to say we must stay at Protea hotel. Wow you made the stay so so special. The staff went over and above - were so so friendly. thank you for the excellent and the memories we could make as a father and daughters roadtrip. Sincerely appreciated Owen

Lol the heat was hectic but its understood for the time of year. Like we said the place just exceeded our exspectations. We would liked a room overlooking the big hole but understood the hotel was fully booked.

the food was excellent, the room was comfortable. staff was friendly

couldn't use the pool as it was being serviced :( left the room in the morning after seeing staff cleaning other rooms, and after coming back hours later, the room wasn't prepared. and when we were taking a nap with a "do not disturb" sign on the door, one of the member knocked and came in despite the sign.

We had a good night's stay at the hotel. It overlooks the Big Hole and is so easy to access the historic town around the mine and the Big Hole. Staff were friendly and the hotel was good.

The diner buffet (food) was mediocre and in my opinion brought the overall standard of the hotel a bit down. There was no vegetarian option, but I was given a suitable option by the chef, who was very accommodating. The vegetarian options could be improved on a bit. The experience was ood though.

It’s right next to the big hole - we walked to the historic old town & mine from the car park. Breakfast was lovely both mornings. Great cappuccino. Staff very friendly.

My first room was ground floor looking at the car park but when I complained I got a lovely room on 4th floor overlooking the gardens & Bog Hole. No offer of assistance with cases which was surprising.

The location was very central, and situation on the ridge of the big hole in Kimberley (you can walk to the tour office for the tickets to view this historic site). The facilities were clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We ordered dinner off the menu, as the buffet seemed pricy for the selection of food available to choose from. Although the family travelling with me did receive their food (it took a while), my order was taken incorrectly. Being too late I ordered take away from a fast-food vendor in town.
