The absolute perfect little oasis in Phalaborwa - we stayed for just one night (although I definitely could have stayed longer) as a stop over before heading into Kruger the next day. It was 5 minutes from the gate and the reviews were excellent so we decided to book and were NOT disappointed. Everything from the check-in, the parking, the breakfast, the pre-communication and the stunning property itself, we could not fault. Fans and air con in the large room were a bonus and we had recommendations of local restaurants to go to if we wanted (ended getting some leftover lasagne at Checkers as we were so tired from a long drive from O.R Tambo). Highly recommend and if we ever stay in Phalaborwa again, this will be the place!

We loved our stay! It was exactly what we needed and wanted. The added bonus was discovering that it's a small world and the owner's mother lives where we are from. Dave was extremely helpful and we managed to achieve what was needed in a much more efficient manner with all the input from him. The breakfast was more than adequate and cooked to order. Very happy customers and if we go that way again, we will be back.

Nothing to do with the property but just an awareness that the roads around Phalaborwa leave a lot to be desired. Thankfully Dave primed us on which ones to avoid.

Our second visit for a stopover before entering Kruger. After a gap of a few years exactly the same welcome and service from the owner. Very pleasant grounds and facilities, secure parking, nice pool and garden. Spacious setting and large family room. All the features you need for a comfortable stay. It would actually make a very nice base for a longer stay. Owner is on hand to give dining recommendations and help with whatever you need. So nice.. good value. Good breakfast.

Our stay at Sunbird Lodge was fantastic. Its location in a tropical garden and proximity to Phalaborwa Gate made the two days we spent there relaxing and enjoyable. The absolute best thing was the host Dave, kind and caring, always ready to share a talk and a laugh. He booked us game drives and gave tips on navigating the Kruger ourselves. Thank you Dave for an excellent stay!

The Sunbird lodge is a very cozy facility surrounded by greenery. Situated in a great location, very close to the center of Phalaborwa, but especially very close to the Kruger entrance gate (10 minutes by car). Large, clean and quiet room. Excellent and plentiful breakfast. The added value, however, is the fantastic Dave, who gave us so many useful tips and answered all our requests. Highly recommended!

The lodge is exactly as shown in the pictures. The rooms were spacious, cleanand well equipped. Secure parking is available. It is very close, around 5 mins drive to the Phalaborwa gate of kruger park.

You need to have access to car to visit the surroundings. There is no bolt or uber in the area.

Breakfast was very good. The host was more than just accommodating as there was a power outage in the facility’s local area. He arranged for us to stay at another venue which had power. So we ended up sleeping elsewhere but returned for breakfast

Simply outstanding warm and friendly service from the host who really understands customer service. The room was big, the pool was warm, the breakfast was fresh.

Dave and his wife are extremely helpful, they really do go out of their way to assist. Management enjoyed their stay and all the feedback received was positive. Will make use of your services again.
