The hotel was modern clean great amenities friendly staff. The room themselves are cleverly laid out and well equipped with plenty of plug sockets. The roof terrorist and pool was outstanding and the free use of pool towels was a great help. The staff are very helpful and accommodating and after requesting a city view room if possible for our stay as we were celebrating my mum’s 70th birthday they left us a small cake and a postcard wishing my mum a happy birthday and had given us a room upgrade for free. The breakfast at the hotel was also delicious and lots of variety. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay here again.

Easy to find and many good places to eat within walking distance. We enjoyed Onis coffee nearby. Also liked that they gave us a list of recommended tapas bars to check out. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The terrace near the pool was nice to sit and enjoy the sun.

The room was not large enough to have two suitcases open and still be able to walk around the bed. Disposable ammenities were not replaced with daily housekeeping e.g. the cotton buds.

Breakfast was amazing, as was everything else. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room service was great. The rooftop was a great place to hang out at night, and the pool was perfect to relax in the morning. Just make sure to snag a lounge chair at the pool early if you want to tan because there weren’t very many.

The one thing that made our stay a bit uncomfortable was that the AC in our room was barely working, which made getting ready and sleeping a bit uncomfortable. Thank God it wasn’t too hot out because we wouldn’t have been able to sleep there.

The room was clean and functional. The location was excellent and convenient to public transit and walking and lots of shopping/dining.

The shower was in the middle of the room which would be awkward if you were sharing with someone you didn’t want to get that cozy with. The TV also was just antenna and YouTube (that I figured out.) Additional streaming log in options would be helpful. Also as it was the off season there wasn’t a bar open in the hotel, which would’ve been nice!

Lovely hotel in a great location. Transport links were excellent although we were able to walk to most of the local attractions without too much trouble. All the staff in the hotel who we came into contact with during our stay were really helpful and the breakfast every day was second to none. We would certainly consider going back if we return to Barcelona in the future.

A minor quibble but when we booked our room it was described as a ‘superior’ room which we took to be something akin to a deluxe or similar. Turns out that a ‘superior’ room at the Occidental is actually a top floor room with a severely restricted view (‘restricted’ as in tiny windows with very little natural daylight coming through). We were thankfully offered an upgrade for an extra 12 euros per night and we ended up with a lovely room on the fifth floor with fantastic views of the main tree lined thoroughfare.

Location is great, walking distance from pretty much everything. The staff is very friendly and the rooms very clean. I would definitely recommend it

Rooms are quite small but enough for a weekend stay. The shower is see-through which might or not be an issue. The swimming pool is 40 cm deep which is not clear from the pics or the description. You can hear the underground noise during the night, otherwise it's nicely insulated.

We ended up upgrading our stay to allow for an early checkin and it was worth it for the great views from the balcony. The staff were wonderful and gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne to enjoy on our honeymoon. Great layout of the room and plenty of mirrors and bathroom space. Despite being on the main road, the windows were very soundproof. A very clean and comfortable stay.

Lack of privacy in the room regarding bathroom layout. A curtain to separate the two areas would have been very good. For $500 per night it would have been nice to have decent coffee in the room (Nescafé 43 beans doesn’t quite cut it!!) Would have been good if the tv was set to have English subtitles every time we turned it on- I’m not very literate with the workings of technology. The iron didn’t work & the replacement didn’t come. (Not earth shattering but I don’t like to nag staff)

No place to put your clothes. Apparently this is a modern concept hotel with NO closets or drawers for anything. Unless you come with only a backpack or via transit for a day or two, you are good. We had our suitcases all over the small room and were unable to allow cleaning staff to come in the room for fear he would trip all over our stuff. We just kept changing our towels

Location was amazing! Very nice hotel. We enjoyed the roof top bar and pool as a family.

Booked 3 month ago as I checked it had inter connecting rooms. I reminded them 4 or 5 times that we required inter connecting - when we arrived there were issues with this. We were given rooms beside each other - but as a family of 4, with 2 children - this is not what we wanted nor what we had agreed. However - it was lovely family stay in a fabulous hotel!
