What a beautiful hotel. Staying in a Parador hotel is always exceptional, and this lived up to expectations. As a former ducal palace, it was stunning inside. Our room was on the ground floor, which was ideal for us. Dinner was served in the restaurant just off the main entrance and was delicious. Breakfast was buffet style along with the option of freshly prepared hot plates (eggs, bacon, etc). The hotel is located in the Plaza Mayor, so directly in the centre of the old town, and was surrounded by beautiful old buildings with plenty of history. Well worth exploring. We would certainly stay here again if we were in the area and would highly recommend it.

If anything, the only thing we were not keen on is that we had 2 beds rather than a double, but we find that this is common in Spain and we have come to expect it.

The location was very good. It was in the main town square and the town/village itself was very pretty and easy to walk around. The room was beautiful with a lot of character and fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. The sitting area was also full of character. Great value for money.

We don't like being charged £18 per person for breakfast even though it is a very good breakfast. We think that for the price of the room a breakfast should be included - it could be a smaller breakfast. Also the dinner menu is quite restrictive and the food always seems overpriced for what it is. There could also be a side order of vegetables available for those guests who would like vegetables.

We stayed two nights and the room on the second night (302) was FANTASTIC, thanks to David at the front desk who was able to switch it for us. See below for notes about the first room (404) which is dark and depressing.

The first night we stayed in a dungeon room. We were excited to hear we’d be on the 4th floor, thinking it would have sweeping views of the countryside. But the rooms this high up in the castle are essentially in the attic with one small window. Very dark and cavernous.

We had a beautiful and very comfortable room right up in the eaves with a view over what felt like the whole of Castile. Having decided to have supper in the restaurant for the first night of our stay, after a sumptuous feast we quickly changed our minds and opted to eat at the restaurant for the second night. We were not disappointed! The art in the public spaces is remarkable (30 prints by Dore, the master engraver of the nineteenth century) and the staff were lovely, courteous and always helpful. The hotel is not so much in the town centre of lerma - it is the town centre

leaving! We were sorry to leave this lovely hotel. The coffee at breakfast was terrible!

As you would expect with a Paradore, great old building and luxurious internals. However our room was quite dark, only one small window and insufficient lighting. 'quality' food only available in the restaurant no 'normal' food and what was on offer was expensive. (In the cafeteria limited sandwiches at 11 and 13 euros)to be expected. Nice building in nice location but we will not rush to book again or another Paradore!! My wife says it was dark and depressing and they could do better. What was supposed to be a treat was a disaster!!!

Second time staying here, first visit couple of years ago was a single night, we ate in the hotel restaurant which was excellent but wanted to come back to try eating out in the area. Good varied choice of venues and we had two very nice meals. Breakfast in the hotel was really good too. Ideally situated on the return route to Santander from the south or central areas.

Cant think of any negatives at all, it's a very impressive building that delivers on the expectations it creates. Shame the breakfast restaurant doesnt open a little earlier as we wanted to leave before 8 to reach Santander comfortably.

I had already stayed at this parador around 15 years ago when I was travelling from the south east of Spain towards Bilbao. This time it was with my wife. The hotel was as spectacular as ever, staff were attentive and were very helpful. A drink in the covered quadrangle is a must and the food in the restaurant was fantastic. We had chosen a room just under one of the towers which had lovely views, and in the morning the sunrise was beautiful. Breakfast didn’t disappoint, again lovely surroundings, good choice of food for all European tastes.

Nothing to dislike

A beautiful and impressive building, located on the main square of Lerma. Our tower room had two balconies and lovely views to the village and surrounding countryside. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were very good and the salon area was beautiful to sit and spend some time.

The hotel restaurant was just ok, food was nothing special. There were signs to underground parking but we weren't told about it. The large open square outside the hotel is ok to park the car, but not great on very hot days. There isn't much to do in Lerma, two nights was easily enough.

The room and hotel were beautiful. First room we were given was in the attic. Not so great, but I asked if we could switch to a different room and lucky for us they had an free room available which was very nice and was what I had been expecting / matched the photos online. We also had dinner at the hotel which was very nice. Service and food were great.

Breakfast was a bit disappointing for the property, but not bad. Eggs had to be ordered from the kitchen, the rest was mostly bread and fruit from the buffet. I would rate it 7/10.

The breakfast was served in a fabulous antique room with lovely wall decorations. Staff were very attentive and there was an excellent variety of hot and cold foods on offer.

The staff serving in the mail coffee lounge could have been a bit more attentive and smiled more. The menu for the main restaurant was not particularly interesting so we ate in the other one with a different menu, but still not varied enough for such a wonderful Parador. The staff there were not particularly friendly and took a long time just to bring us the menus.
