October 2022

We returned to L'Escala after a 25 year absence, wanting to revisit many of our old holiday haunts. The hotel is in a beautiful location, right across the road from the sea in the old part of town. The sea facing Junior suite was excellent for us and our dog. A lovely modern, bright and airy room with all the facilities you would expect. The bar looked great, but we chose to eat and drink in the town. The staff were really helpful and friendly.

Be warned, there is no hotel parking anymore, and parking nearby is incredibly hard to find. We were there in October when most parking restrictions had been lifted, but it was still problematic. We think that 20€s per night for a pet is on the steep side, 8-12 would be more reasonable.

We had a great stay. Opted for the largest room while booking, the room size was generous, with plenty of space. The sunrise views from the balcony were the highlight of our stay. The room was clean, comfortable bed, a nice sofa. One small complaint is the bathroom floor is slippery when wet. Be careful. I had a few close calls... Breakfast was nice, with plenty of options in buffet and ala carte. Friendly staff, helpful. Parking is paid, but secured by locked fence door and cameras.

Slippery floor in the bathroom.

Very clean modern design and amenities. Across the street from the Mediterranean. Good breakfast with a variety of cold foods and pastries and coffee options. Great mattresses and excellent bath design . Staff was professional and multi lingual. I am a hotel broker and am very impressed with this hotel.

I don’t understand why there is no facial tissue or wash cloths in the room. In room coffee is added to the bill. I inadvertently left my passport at my Spanish sister’s home in Barcelona and I didn’t think they would let me check in. I booked and paid for 2 suites and because I only had my US Colorado license they didn’t think it was adequate ID. They gave my local resident sister her room. Eventually they gave me my room but I thought I was going to have to go back to Barcelona. My bad for no passport but I can’t believe this never happens to international visitors.

Hotel Voramar is very centrally located on the promenade of L'Escala. It reopened in 2022 after a 5 year renovation so all the facilities are still in good condition. It has a beautiful look and is stylishly decorated. We stayed there 2 nights in the offseason: 1 in a double room with sea view and 1 in a junior suite with sea view. To be honest: their weekday prices in the low season are downright cheap. Especially the junior suite is a steal. It has a big bed, spacious bathroom, a sofa and a balcony. All with perfect views of the sea. Breakfast is either a buffet or à la carte. The buffet is great with everything you can wish for in a breakfast. The à la carte version is more basic, still ok but not nearly as good as the buffet. I think it depends on the number of guests if they bring out the buffet so it's worth checking this at reception. The hotel doesn't have its own parking but there are plenty of parking spaces on the promenade. Parking in L'Escala is free from Sept. 15 until June 15 so in the high season parking might be more difficult. All in all we were very happy to have found this hotel and next time we are in L'Escala we'll definitely try to stay there again.

The walls are pretty thin so you have to be a bit lucky with your neighbours but in the low season this shouldn't be a problem.

We had a beautiful sea-facing room with lovely views. Our room was spacious and well designed, as was our bathroom. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and we had a nice balcony overlooking the sea. The restaurant of the hotel is very nice - airy and light and with views of the sea. We didn't eat in the restaurant and so I can't comment on the food. The location of this hotel is excellent - not only is it on the sea front, but it is also a short walk from numerous very nice restaurants and a sandy beach for swimming. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay again.

Only small quibbles, but I wish there had been an iron and ironing board and some milk for my tea!

Excellent location in the old town by the beach, with easy access to some good restaurants nearby. Many were closed for winter but the Italian restaurant next door was a saviour. Breakfast is simple but thoughtful, with fresh made-to-order eggs. Genuinely helpful staff, dog friendly, comfortable bed and pillows, secure parking, mini walk-in wardrobe area and ample power plugs by the bed for all your tech gadgets.

If I’m to be picky, I wish there’s a heated towel rack in the shower. The big window can get really cold!

Lovely spot overlooking the sea. The rooms are beautiful especially at the front with the full sea view. The breakfast is well worth trying with a hot selection menu and also a large buffet selection. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially the gentleman at reception who spoke great English and helped arrange safe parking at the hotel for the camper van owned by my Daughter, Son-In-Law and their dog Monty. Unusual for such a lovely hotel to be dog friendly. The lovely dog friendly beach is a 15 minute walk away. Lovely town, would suggest to reserve tables for evening meals.

There is a derelict swimming pool opposite the front of the hotel. I guess this belongs to the hotel and will be renovated soon. Didn't detract from our stay as we prefer going to the beach.

Overall the balance between what you pay and what you get is pretty good. The bed and mattress oh my dear, was incredible. The bathroom was fine, nothing spectacular, nevertheless impecable, spotless. We got the room with a sea view: it was simply a dream. We saw the sun rising and enjoyed it so very much. Breakfast continental type, diverse and exquisite. We didn't try the restaurant as we went out. Location is simply the best. Right by the sea. In the center of the village so you go walking everywhere around. 24 hour personnel very polite and well informed.

The room had only 1 chair and a very small desk to leave things. For 2 people and luggage, AT LEAST you need a couple of chairs and a couple of luggage holders. We left everything on the floor. Sad. The wardrobe was tiny, with about 10 hangers and 2 available drawers. Definitely not enough for 2 people and definetly not enough for a longer stay than 1 night. The minibar was integrated in the lower drawer. Heating everything above it. THere were 2 courtesy capsules for nesspresso coffee machine. If you wanted more, you should ask and pay. Pathetic. No water boiler nor courtesy tea, nor anything else. This is a cheap way to cut your budget.

Everything, the hotel is beatiful and the staff amazing. Had a sea view room with balcony, the balcony has a glass screen, when we woke in the morning we had an amazing view from the bed across the bay of Roses with the sun rising and the little fishing boats heading out..

Really nit picking but I like a cup of coffee in the morning, the hotel room had enough coffee for one cup each, after that we had to pay 2€ per coffee capsule, small thing but...
