Playa Honda is a lovely destination, beautiful beach, just enough coffee shops and restaurants and a nice shopping centre. Its a real find if you don't want the touristy places like Playa del Carmen. Really good bus links so you can get to Arrecife, Carmen and surronding arears very easily by bus. Magma Rooms are just terrific! Our room was just lovely, the communal arears are a really nice touch and you can just come and go as you please. The rooms are really clean and EXTREMELY comfortable. We LOVED it. The use of a fridge would be bonus but that is a very minor issue. If you just want a bit of R&R in a lovely location..............this is the place for you. It's full of locals and you really feel part of the place.

Magma Rooms - what a find!! This is the 2nd time we have stayed and we just love it. Rooms are clean and very well furnished. Very comfortable stay. The kitchen area/seating inside and out are a great bonus. The entire place is spotlessly clean. Axl answers all your questions and then just leaves you to it which is great. Playa Honda is a lovely town. A little shopping centre, AMAZING beach and lots of little restaurants and cafes/coffee shops. So different to staying in a resort, in Playa Honda you really feel like part of the community. There are some tourists but you are mainly in the company of locals which is what we like. You can easily get at bus to Arrecife (visit Amelie and Friends for superb coffee in the harbour!) We love it....Magma Rooms and Playa Honda.

We loved everything.....only improvement (which would not stop us going again) would be to have access to a fridge, either in your room or in the kitchen area.

Good location in Playa Honda - an authentically local town right near the airport and central to the island, with great restaurants and nice beach. Easy on-street parking. Very well kept place, though it feels like something between a boutique hotel and a bed & breakfast - no reception, and we didn't meet the hosts at any point during the week, only the cleaning staff. Hosts were very responsive though, e.g. arranging our sink to be fixed, providing an extra key etc. We loved the plunge pool and garden area, and every time we used it we had it all to ourselves.

The place would benefit enormously from either access to a shared kitchen or a mini fridge in the room. There is a kitchen, presumably for staff to prepare breakfast, but it is otherwise closed to guests and locked. We didn't see anyone take up the option of breakfast - we felt it was too expensive. We suspected that they have many guests just staying one night before or after a flight, but we stayed a week and it was highly impractical to have no access to the kitchen.

Beautiful property, great calm location!

Additional charges for tea (1,5€ !!!) and coffee give unnecessary bad impression considering the price for the room and prices on the island in general…

Magma rooms really is something quite different. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very well finished indeed, down to the quality decoration and superb bedding. Shared areas such as the dining room and courtyard are lovely and there was even a couple of bikes to borrow. The shower and wardrobe space was excellent and there is a small wallet safe with a key available free of charge too. The manager really does care about the quality of this place and it showed. Eating in the room is prohibited as is taking any additional people to the property as I was informed by message several times prior to arrival!!

Security is very high which is both a good and bad thing. On the negative side the electric door release was not working ( or being used properly) which late at night caused a problem for myself and other inmates. A good addition would be a coloured rubber key sleeves to distinguish the room key from the courtyard key as they were all but identical. I received a lot of correspondence 10+ prior to my visit which was too many!

From plane landing to room in 45 minutes. Lovely large room with large terrace - spotlessly clean - in a house a very nice residential area. Comfortable bed, lots in room. Aircraft noise but not too bad on a Wednesday/Thursday overnight. Would be a good location for stays of more than 1 night as plenty cafes snd bars nearby and a shopoing centre (with taxi rank adjacent)

Open shower meant water leaked quickly onto floor soaking mat so had to used used towels to prevent it spreading. Not an issue for 1 night for us but not great for person cleaning the room.

Booked last minute, really great price. Check in states from 14:30 however flight arrived at 11am, arrived to magma rooms at 12:00 owner greeted us and welcomed us in really lovely lady very helpful with keys and access codes an processes, showed us around. Honestly Magma rooms exceeded my expectations, it is beautiful spacious very well maintained. We used the pool - complimentary pool towels. Pictures do not do it justice. Really close to beaches and plenty of bike hire shops close by to make the most of bicycle routes to neighbouring towns. Beds super comfortable. Property in general is very quiet we only saw one other guest during our stay which made it feel like we had the entire place to ourselves. Quiet residential street but plenty of great restaurants a short walk away - highly recommend forestors. Would absolutely book Magma rooms again.

My only comment was the wall bracket that held the shower head was broken so had to hold shower head to shower - but with the level of care taken in the maintenance of this property I'm certain it was already on there to do list.

Excellent, professional and friendly personnel. Location: Few minutes by taxi to the airport and just few minutes walking to the beach.

Turned up a couple of hours early but called and was allowed to check into the room which was a real treat, especially as the compound is ultra-secure and it would not have been possible to drop our bags off. We arrived by bus from Playa Blanca and the premises were easy to find and in a great location handy for the shopping centre as the rather sleepy seafront - sleepy in a good way! The room was immaculate and the pool was spotless.

The lock for the front door was a little tricky to open. There were also a couple of bikes in the grounds but it was unclear whether or not they were for customers use.

Very comfortable bed, nice little outdoor courtyard to relax in. I only interacted with the owner via messages but clear instructions to get inside.

Noise does echo through the place a bit and therefore can be loud when other people are coming and going. I was woken up around 12.30am by someone knocking on my door and I think then trying to get into my room which was unsettling. Then heard voices talking and not sure what it was about but luckily it went quiet again after not too long.
