A real off piste treat. Access is a little more challenging due to the relatively remote location, but the drive is worth the effort. Cala Joncol offers a tranquil environment free of noisy urban distractions and plenty of environmentally-minded practices. The meals offered, including the buffet breakfast, were freshly prepared and good value for money.

Lack of easy access to potable water. Insufficient daily supply provided for 2 people, especially when tea/coffee making facilities are provided in the room. There is a pre pay dispenser in reception, that is available only during manned office hours. Potable water is a basic need and should be freely available 24/7. As a bare minimum, the hotel needs to make guests aware of this before they arrive.

For those with a sense of adventure, a love of nature - hiking, the ocean, the birds etc, this spot is an oasis. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was ample, and tasty - with a mix of classic and creative dishes. We loved the half board option. Here you can buy a bottle of wine and they will keep what you don't drink for you for the next day. The hiking in the area is wonderful with blooming roses, lavender and other flowers along the path in April when we went, and though a bit cold for the pool when we were there it was perfect for hiking. The reviews for this hotel are very mixed because the road in, the isolation, and the wifi that didn't extend everywhere on the grounds are not for everyone. For instance if you drive in in a car that sits very low with low profile tires you are going to be unhappy. If you are there to surf on your phone you will be disappointed. But if you go for the reprieve from ordinary life and put the phone down, you will find yourself not wanting to leave this little piece of paradise.

Lovely setting...cordial staff, including Anna and Lola who was charming. Very difficult to find!! Not in Roses but in Joncols!! (Lousy directions from booking.com...arrived after dark which was disappointing...had to call and stop several times so lost a half day as travel writers-photograohers.) job) Grounds are gorgeous! We enjoyed sea view and walk to beach. Didn't mean to check "upgrade" offer and tried to cancel but apparently too late so felt we paid too much. Also credit card was discharged for full amount twice (Anna made a credit so I will check visa card.) Breakfast was delightful with exemplary service from Lola!

Explained that we lost our first day there because of the inadequate directions from booking.com....had to pay for two long distance phone calls to helpful property personnel -- very stressful and wasted our time instead of taking photos for our global articles... thank you, Anna and Lola. Michael also pleasant in warning us about flood...we were grateful to get out but "act of God" again stressful.

Great location, hotel is off the beaten track and tucked into a beautiful bay. Great swimming and stunning views from the balcony of our room and from the breakfast terrace. Lovely walks up onto the headlands too. Very welcoming place to stay (our dog loved it too!)

The water is an acquired taste! Full board good value and good quality but no choice. Able to adapt the fixed menu to meet vegetarian needs though. Didn’t seem to be any other places to have food in evening so half board only option, but the place to be for lunch is defo under the olive trees in the garden ( a La Carte). Need to make this clearer when you sign up.

The hotel is completely surrendered by nature, it is perfect to relax. The staff was very kind and the room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very good and intercontinental. They offer a lot of experiences. I recommend the diving baptize, the teacher was very professional and it was an amazing experience. Highly recommend!

It is a little bit difficult to reach the place and you need to do a 20 minutes route along a dirt road. The restaurant is good but a little bit expensive.

The location between the beach and vineyards was great. Great food at the restaurant, worth the price.

Our room had a bad smell of damp.

Location and the surroundings where lovely great for a break from the hassles of the city and relax, breakfast was great and had all you needed to start the day, staff very friendly and helpful.

The only issue was the road in the last 5 or 6 kms was a rough dirt road which could do with some help.

Per Google Maps we tried to drive over the road from Cadaques but there was a locked gate. Same when Google sent us through the Parq but again a locked gate. Even though the website says to come through Roses, it should say it is the ONLY way.

It was a great experience far away from everything. Perfect for really coming to rest and enjoying the flavours and colours of an idyllic bay with great snorkelling opportunities. The staff was super friendly, in particular Zuriko en Catalina, who made our stay even more pleasant. Apart from the views also the food is absolutely wonderful (my wife is a cook and she was stunned). Would definitely recommend!

Stunning location. Gorgeous food. Great eco credentials. Bit of a challenge to get there but completely worth it when you do. The receptionist Roxane was particularly delightful and helpful. She gave me loads of wonderful tips of what to see in the area. Wonderful.
