We chose the hotel for its proximity to the Bilbao ferry port. It was also ~1mile away from a small train station which had a frequent service in to the centre of Bilbao. There were several electric vehicle charging points in the centre of Muskiz (including the train station) which were helpful. The hotel is small but the staff are friendly and helpful. A basic understanding of Spanish was appreciated by the staff. The bar had a selection of cold bottled beers and spirits. The buffet breakfast was good. The room was clean and a reasonable size. There was a lovely selection of toiletries and even spare toothbrushes and a "shaving kit". The room had a fan but no air conditioning.

The hotel is close to an oil refinery. We weren't aware of noise or smell and there is partial screening of the view by trees. The nearest restaurants are a 15-20min walk away

The hôtel is small, peaceful and the staff are friendly. It is ten minutes country drive from the ferry terminal. Its position is quirky, with a quiet village on one side, and the backdrop of a large refinery on the other - a surreal spectacle which looks like a CGI creation. Curiously, this is not off putting. Nor is the view of the motorway viaduct. Perhaps this is because it is quiet and the air pure. We left feeling rested. There is a pretty beach a few minutes away.

Whilst the hotel has a small bar, its cafeteria was not functioning during our stay. The places by the beach were bars with processed food, catering for low-budget tourists, and there were no proper restaurants. There do appear to be a few in surrounding villages and it would be advisable to identify these in advance, or self-cater, though there are no local shops of note.

Room.Good shower. Terrace to sit. Free parking. Breakfast adequate.

No food served Monday or Tuesday. Coffee House closed. Opens at 8 pm Wed to Sat. No food served during the day. After we checked in the owners were having lunch in full view but wouldn't make us a meal or even a sandwich. They had bread on their table. For 121€ which for a small hotel is a lot they could have given us something. We would have happily paid. The village of Muskiz was 5 minute drive but having driven for over 3 hours I didn't want to drive any more. Fortunately we had brought a couple of rolls with us and fruit. Nevertheless I think the owners could have put themselves out for customers.

Location well away from the chaos of Bilbao but only 15 mins from the ferry following morning. Building itself gorgeous mix of old stone and wooden beams. Fabulous food delivery service all coordinated by the owner and hotel bar for that off the road wind down. Secure parking behind electric gates. Smart tv in room with TV, Netflix etc

Breakfast was more than we needed but we did book it as we thought more remote food wise than we actually were. Turned out cafe bar not far away on road to ferry which would have been plenty for us. Local oil refinery spoils such a beautiful place but that seems to be a feature of the Spanish landscape everywhere.

This property is a gem and would have achieved a straight 10 save for two issues (see below). My room on the second floor was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. Both bedroom and bathroom had delightful window seats. The bathroom was a joy in itself, spacious, with a fantastic shower and all other facilities. I would particularily recommend this hotel for those taking an early morning boat from Bilbao the next morning. The ferry port is only 15 minutes drive from the hotel. Breakfast also good. Secure parking within gates. The hotel is within 10 minutes of the nearby beautiful Arena beach.

The hotel has no restaurant (of which in fairness I was aware) which would be of no concern if there were other restaurants within walking distance. The last thing the weary traveller wants to do is to get in the car again to drive to and from a restaurant in another village. Ideally a small restaurant in the hotel or in Muskiz would remedy this issue. The second note of caution concerns the nearby vast oil refinery, located within a kilometre of the hotel. There is an odor, albeit not offensive on my visit. Clearly the hotel can do nothing about this refinery which dominates the landscape.

Everything about the hotel was fabulous. The decor, the view, the staff, the rooms, the breakfast and of course the lovely receptionist who was very informative and her English was good enough in that we were able to understand her as our Spanish is nearly non existent. The selection for breakfast was very good as well. When we were told the times of the breakfast we picked it up wrong. She gave us a time of 10.30 and we said that would do, but what she was telling us was that it was over at 10.30 am. She was very nice when we apologised and still let us have breakfast.

Nothing springs to mind. Mind you it would have been nice to have dined in the hotel when we arrived but I think 7.00 pm was a bit too late and we didn't see any other diners.

The hotel facilities, services and decoration are definitely worth a lot more than 1 star. It is very tidy, the room was big and beautifully designed (including nice elements such as wooden beams) and nicely decorated and had a bathroom with the biggest walk in shower I have ever seen. The TV had Netflix. Breakfast was excellent with fresh bread, fruit, yoghurt, cereals and different cakes. Very friendly owners. Only 5 minute walk to bus stop with bus that takes you down to the beach in La Arena. Would recommend!

Only downside is location, at few hundred meters from an oil refinery.

Ideally situated small hotel on the outskirts of Bilbao and only 15 mins from the port. Very friendly and obliging staff, good breakfast, easy car parking behind secure gates and comfortable and clean rooms. The only negative was outside of the hotel's control - an oil refinery close by which we did not fund noisy but did get a smell of oil from on occasion. We would stay again. We had some basic Spanish phrases, and the owners had some English, so we were able to communicate. Some nice Basque tavernas in the local village also.

Location close to refinery.

Beautiful family hotel. A very warm welcome from the owners who were very attentive. Allowed us to check in early. Gave us adjoining rooms for our family. A lovely bar for an evening drink. Very nice breakfast with lots of choice for ourselves and children. Only a 15 minute drive to Bilbao Port in the morning to get our ferry back to Ireland. Very convenient
