The highlight of this hotel is the architecture and design - it's beautiful, built into the old city castle walls. Inside the design is classic yet sleek, the reading area of the satelite building is stunning and so is the courtyard with the pool. The room was comfortable, with the full-sized mirror and welcome chocolates adding a great touch. Also bonus points for the soap and lotion being high quality. The breakfast was good, yet the a-la-carte elements were a bit slower.

For the room itself, the bathroom layout was a bit awkward with an extra door that felt unnecessary. Also, the wi-fi only reached the bathroom which was annoying as there was no signal by the bed. Zero sound insulation with the door and the window to the courtyard meant that all noise could be heard in the room which wasn't great. Just a note on accessiblity, this hotel is in the castle walls which is a significant elevation from the station/beachfront, and there is no other public transport in Altafulla. If you face mobility issues or struggle with climbs, this hotel will be challenging to move around from unless cars/taxis are used.

Location was great, hotel was quiet with tasteful decor and the pool was an added bonus, as was the adjacent spa and restaurant just down the street.

The air conditioning didn't work properly and kept switching off at night, which was an issue as it was hot but there was building work across the road, meaning it was noisy with the windows left open. Also the room wasn't restocked so we had to ask for bottled water at reception where we were informed it was an extra charge, which for the nightly price I thought would be complimentary.

Breakfast area and offer was amazing. hotel is super nice and swimming pool is nice. room was totally fine and nicely done, but a double bed is not the same as 2 singles pushed together. (I know you note that you cannot guarantee it but it is not the same experience then). location was great.

Spa looked great and I wanted to use it, but there was a requirement to use a shower cap. I have never experiences this request in any other spa, and I cancelled my appointment because of it, so then you may as well not be a spa hotel. It's not comfy to wear in a place you want to relax. It's also not good for hair - it causes split ends. And I do not think you should make people pay for something so niche.

The location is absolutely great ! The magical touch of the medieval fortress and its cobblestone roads make the experience truly special There is a playground for kids really close by in a fairytale like landscape. Breakfast is satisfying and service is very professional We will definitely come back !

Rooms do have some small design errors , and in some places one can easily hit their head to the wall . And I would say the rooms look better and more new in the photos

We stayed in the suite which is highly recommended as it was so comfortable and a beautiful room. The staff were both friendly and professional and we immediately felt welcome. The rooms were very clean too! I would also add that the food in the restaurant was delicious!

I wish there were kettles in the room to make tea but it's a very small thing.

It’s set in a medieval village, absolutely beautiful

Everything was great, but there are some random things that were not so 4/5 star: The restaurant staff are very young and not very well trained : I asked for a black tea, he came with a teapot with fruit tea but no cup/saucer/spoon. It took a while to bring a cup and then we had to ask for a spoon. Every morning(we were there 3 days) they forgot something . Also, no soap/shampoo/dirty linen bag/iron board&iron/mini bar in the bedrooms. All a bit random but customary in every hotel, even of less category. A pity really.

The room was very nice and clean, nice location.

The staff was not so friendly, especially at breakfast. We had to send our toast back as it was hard and cold, also got rotten tomatoes both morning. Missed the selection of vegetables at breakfast. Fotos are nicer than reality, specifically about outside pool and the spa.

A bit of a walk to the beach especially on incline town roads but still good calm location

The location, friendly staff, cleanliness. The time are huge and very comfortable

The proximity and frequency of the bell ringing. Also the breakfast didn't have many options and the coffee wasn't very good so we had coffee at a nearby cafe

Breakfast terrasse and food offer are very good. It is a pity they are not offering a real coffee (only vending machine type)

Spa was a bit crowded. There was a wedding on the terrasse close to the hotel and it was a bit noisy.
