we choose this hostal as a pit stop on route between Portugal and Santander. wow! beautiful old building in the middle of town. quirky interiors, wonderful old cobbled floors. but we had the most amazing dinner cooked by the owners son (Jack - son of Jacques). the owner choose us 5 courses to share as a family and it was the best meal we had all holiday. find this little gem of a hotel and go eat! really good value too

rooms over the courtyard a bit noisy BUT this was only a sign of a popular hotel and probably us going to bed too early!

Loved the history of the place... Furniture was old but beautiful... Location was excellent... Supermarkets bars and restaurants in walking distance.

Can't fault the place at all... The owner opened gates to the courtyard for us to put the motorbike into.

This wonderful hotel is an oasis of calm in Valencia de Don Juan. Juan the Owner has been working there since he was 12 years old and his love for the hotel and for what he is doing is very evident. They say that an organisational culture copies that of its leader and this is especially true of Hostal El Palacio. Juan and his Son & Chef John have a good time and so their 15 members of staff have a good time as well. It seems to be a happy place to work. The fresh Calamari as prepared by Chef John was the best we tasted during our entire holiday in Spain.

This is a great hotel, but in the guest area there is no comfortable sofa for two people to sit

Lovely place and friendly welcoming staff. The outside gives nothing away but the inside is fantastic. There are wonderful pieces of old furniture, pictures, paintings and antiques everywhere. The reception area has a floor made from large pebbles. The courtyard between the main building and the small building our room was in was covered by a grape vine and used as a dining area and looked fantastic especially in the evening. Our room was accessed by a walkway over the courtyard and was bright, very clean and modern with a large shower enclosure and powerful shower. We had dinner that evening. It was probably the best meal we had during our stay in Spain. The owner was a lovely man who shook our Hands when we left, wished us a safe journey and.waved us off. I would highly recommend Hostel El Palacio and will stay there again if I'm in the area.

Only staying one night!

This renovated 400 year old building took us by surprise, as a unique place to stay. Juan the owner was extremely friendly and hospitable, made us feel at home. We couldn't imagine a better place to stay in this town.

We missed the dinner which has been reviewed as excellent.

could not fault anything, in particular the staff go out of their way to help with whatever you need. dinner was excellent and so was breakfast. shame we only stayed one night.
