For us as a couple in their early sixties the location was perfect. The hotel is right on the beach sandy beach whilst at the back are nine or ten excellent places to eat. The staff were all very helpful & friendly. The hotel itself was kept spotlessly clean although as others have said, the rooms do need some updating. However from our perspective this isn't a massive concern as we didn't spend much time in our room. All rooms have a balcony or terrace on the beach looking out to the beautiful Indian Ocean. A mention for Subu tours who are located just outside the hotel on the beach. We booked three trips with them ( river safari, turtle sanctuary and elephant safari) and they were excellent.

The only real problem for us was the air con which was pretty poor and obviously needs replacing. We did report it as soon as we arrived but in fairness to the staff there's not a lot they can do.

Lovely friendly and attentive staff, beach restaurant was lovely for light lunch by the beach / pool. Private beach area was great and very comfortable. Room clean and well serviced each day.

The hotel itself was absolutely lovely, the rooms were clean and bright, the travel cot was perfect. we got two beach facing rooms that went straight out to the grass and beach which I think were perfect. The pools were clean and huge. The food served was delicious and good sized. The buffet breakfast had everything you needed. Right next to the train station and some lovely restaurants , very easy to walk into the town. But there’s tuk tuks outside the hotel at all times too for convenience. The beach was beautiful and clean!

The check in experience really isn’t smooth and some of the staff were quite rude- we had booked in advance and told them our check in time - arrived about 3pm but the rooms weren’t ready, which was a pain, but after then, it really was a beautiful place to stay. Also we had to really push that we got the booking.com 10% discount and show proof every time which was frustrating as it was on the booking reference

The view from the room was lovely. It's right on the beach.

We had the lunch buffet. The service was pretty poor and not great value for money. There are restaurants at the back of the hotel on the other side of the railway track.

Next day When we reached the room ac is not working and made a complaint,but we don’t get immediate reply and action.it takes almost 3 hours to change the ac remote.They did not arrange for an alternate room for that time , we waited till it’s done in that hot climate with my parents and kids.

The hotel is in the perfect location right on Bentota Beach. There are miles of sandy beach with rolling waves, the views and ambience are fantastic. The rooms are spacious and modern, opening up to reveal the views off the beach. We had an upgraded room, which opened directly into the 70 metre long swimming pool, into which we could almost jump into from our bed. The gym however was a serious let down. There were 3-4 antiquated machines, which didn’t work properly; there was no working air conditioning, no water and the floor was filthy. We were very disappointed at this. The food for the breakfast and dinner buffets was good, BUT the restaurant staff didn’t know what they were doing (coffee kept running off, no glasses for juices, the tables weren’t laid with enough cutlery and every time we asked a member of staff for assistance, he/she would run off and disappear into the back room, never to be seen again!! There was no experience senior restaurant manager, which is what’s needed. These 2 issues can be easily fixed, as this hotel could easily be a 5* property. Fortunately there are 4-5 local restaurants open all day, directly opposite the hotel, across the railway line, which we and many other guests used instead of getting frustrated with the restaurant buffet (and less than half the price)!! This hotel is definitely worth staying in, it’s very good value for money, if you want to unwind and relax on one of the best beaches in Asia, you will not be disappointed.

This was a sudden plan for our anniversary . And the staffs surprised us with a cake, that was a very sweet gesture of them. Very reasonable and worth the price we paid . We loved our room as it had access to the pool which was behind our room. The proper was clean and neat. The half board meal dinner and breakfast was good. The staffs at the reception were so welcoming. Will definitely visit again with cousins.

The room service could improve. We requested for a water bottle in the morning at 7.30am and was not given till 11am.

Really enjoyed the beautiful location. Staff were very friendly and very attentive. Our room had a special entrance into the long pool which was amazing. The food was very good and there was lots of variety.

Room service took a while, like 40 minutes to an hour. There was no provision for vegans, no soya milk at breakfast, no margarine and no vegan options for desserts which was a shame. I went to the local shop and bought milk and margarine so that was an easy work around.

The location is superb

Food is below average with no good options…we had to take the gala dinner of 31 Dec…which was more or less mediocre..you will get better options and quality of food outside the hotel

Facilities were very good but we were not always able to make use of the pool because of the weather. Some of the guests were obnoxious but we have got used to that in our travels. Being close to the beach was great but this was the wrong time of the year, weather wise.

The road and bridge (over the rail crossing) were invariably flooded after rainfall but no attempt was made to improve this situation - it is assumed that everyone travels by taxi / tuk tuk We do a lot of walking and there's nothing worse than slippery surfaces, especially because of fallen leaves. Obviously the hotels and restaurants around there think someone else should sort it out ...
