stayed at The Yard for just one night. The location is perfect — just a short walk to the beach and right in the heart of the local restaurant scene. The decor is lovely, especially the outdoor lounge and yoga area, which give the space a relaxed, stylish feel. There’s complimentary tea and coffee available, which is a nice touch. The room itself was clean and simple, with minimalist decor and an outdoor shower area that adds a bit of charm. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Overall, a decent option for a short stay if you’re looking to be close to the beach and local spots. For longer term stays i think this would be a perfect location.

The property was stunning, felt like a quiet peaceful oasis from the busier streets while being right in the centre of it, the location was absolutely perfect! The room was so clean, had everything we needed. The staff were so lovely and always there to help. When you check in they send you a list of recommendations in the area which was so so helpful and thoughtful.

The only things I could point out are that the bathroom door is glass, just felt slightly odd but wasn’t a big deal. Also whatever the roof is made out of makes the rooms extremely loud when it’s raining. We unfortunately had quite a bit of rain so our room was very very loud during this, which wasn’t ideal for trying to sleep but wouldn’t deter me from going back here

This is an absolute gem, beautiful house, gorgeous rooms - we were lucky to have one at the back so possibly a bit quieter, access to the superb kitchen, location is close but maintains a secluded feeling

The pillows were hard and we were given new memory foam ones to try which was really kind but still found them hard as were the mattresses like others have mentioned. Some foam mattress toppers would be good here to make this place top notch Some light background music would be nice. Whilst the staff were very helpful and sweet there is no sense of ownership and was the first place in Sri Lanka where we didn’t meet the owners.

This hotel was stunning! The interiors and designs were so gorgeous and felt like a true haven!!! We got there early and managed to check in and upgrade to the penthouse suite for a small price difference - which was sooooo lovely! The staff were very helpful, the place was immaculate and there’s also kitchen facilities for all to use. The location couldn’t be more perfect, just a short walk to the beaches, cafes, bars and restaurants. Yet how the hotel is set back on the street still feels like a peaceful, quiet haven. We loved our stay here would highly recommend!

Nothing it was perfect!

First of all the location is perfect, it’s very close to the beach and down the street there are several cute shops and restaurants! Moreover the hotel itself was beautiful with a really pretty garden and nice places to sit and chill! The rooms were very nice and some had an outside bathroom. The kitchen is really great for some drinks and coffee and to make some food. Overall stayed here for 8 nights in total and really enjoyed our stay here!!

The house is beautiful, with a stunning interior. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, and very nicely decorated. There is a nice kitchen where guests can cook, garden, BBQ. On the 1st floor there is a common area, where someone can do own yoga practice. The house has own parking so if you have ea motorbike it can be parked there, not on the street. The team is extremely helpful and kind. We stayed during the Sri Lankan New Year and were kindly offered traditional New Year sweets to try, which was a lovely gesture.

The properties location was almost perfect. It was a 2 minute walk to the beach, the restaurants were all within 5 minutes. The hotel itself is secluded and behind a door, and you feel hidden away from the busy street. The lady on reception was so lovely, she was very attentive and helpful, while always saying hello and being smiley! The hotel had a kitchen area, providing fridges, a sink and a tea/coffee station, as well as cooking if needed. The garden seating area was cute. The room was very comfortable, the fact it had a duvet and not a sheet was great.

The room was slightly small if you have a lot of baggage but that’s all!

This is by far one of the best places I’ve ever stayed in! Not only is it beautifully designed, but it also has everything you could need. They’ve thought of every detail, from a hair dryer in the room, umbrellas available to borrow, a spot for placing surfboards, a fully equipped kitchen, to perfectly scented soaps and incense. The place is always so clean, unlike anything I’ve seen in Sri Lanka, and the owner and staff are incredibly friendly, always smiling and ready to help. The location is perfect! Just 1 minute walk from the beach. I loved it so much that I was sad to leave! If I return to Hiriketiya, this will be the first place I book!

Really enjoyed the large bed and choice of pillows, beautiful jungle garden and interior of this hotel. Hiriketiya is a small beach location with a few bars, restaraunts and a little bay that is fairly crowded with surf schools and sun loungers. It's fairly touristic considering the size, but still under the radar enough for their to be a feeling for the tropical location. Great coffee close by, fruit bowls and yoga.

Could provide milk or milk alternatives in the fridge rather than milk powder. I did find this location to be quiet, however, it is close to restaurants and low key bars and as such there is ocassional live music (until latest 10.30 PM) from the outside which some might not enjoy.

The place was absolutely beautiful, providing a perfect blend of comfort and charm! The interiors made it the ideal retreat to relax and enjoy the soothing sound of rain during monsoon season. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with thoughtful touches that made the stay feel like a home away from home. The lush surroundings came alive with vibrant greenery, adding to the serene atmosphere. Plenty of communal hang out spaces and open plan kitchen comes very handy. Very kind and friendly staff with great attention to details- constantly cleaning , repainting etc to keep it all up to standards during rainy season ( most places on the island get pretty run down during low season due to high levels of humidity)! Will definitely come back! Highly recommended!
