There is a lot to love about the NIKARA (and a few things to improve ). Firstly the location is stunning for a peaceful and relaxing stay. It’s only a short ride to Yala safari too. We stayed for 2 nights (including New Year’s Eve) in the villa with private pool. The room was clean and bed was huge and super comfortable, and it is very private and quiet. The breakfast and food in general was excellent. On New Year’s Eve , the staff organised dinner on the beach with fireworks. They even bought a birthday cake for my husband, which was lovely. The staff here are EXCEPTIONAL, they literally do everything and never stop , they are super friendly and always have a smile ! The beach is stunning and deserted (but not good for swimming) and perfect for relaxing

This place should /could be paradise. But sadly it needs some TLC and maintenance (not just daily cleaning). They also need more staff as when we were there, the small team were doing everything (check in , cleaning , cooking , getting the fresh fish in for New Year’s Eve). So whilst the rooms are clean , there are marks on the walls , rugs etc and the garden / pool of the villa need to be maintained. Same for the main pool area. So it’s not quite the luxury you see in the photos.

Incredible location - feels really remote and off The beaten track. The property’s a beautiful villa style hotel with gorgeous pool set just off the beach. Given its location, it’s extremely well maintained and looks the part. The food was delicious and the serenity was just what we needed.

I really don’t want to sound too negative as this is an area that is still quite new to tourism - however they desperately need to train up the staff a bit better. The guys working there were so lovely but clearly out of their depth, and struggled to communicate effectively. That said, they did the best they could and ultimately we still had a superb stay in the pool villa.

Our stay at Nikara was wonderful! We had the Villa and it was so peaceful. The staff is great, everyone is so kind and tries to fulfill all wishes. The experience was special due to the personalized attention on site – every evening featured Sri Lankan seafood dishes and every Morning traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. The accomodation offers some activities like Safari or visiting nearby Temples via TukTuk. Our Highlight was the Massage on the Beach during Rain under a roof- we can highly recommend! There Are some negative recensions here we can‘t really understand („sadly“ no parrot :) ). We would definetly come again, thanks for having us!

Nothing to complain

It was the best accommodation that we had during our stay in Sri Lanka. We felt at home and enjoyed the amazing pools, the beach and the Safari. The service was great - they let us have our privacy at the pool but were always there when we wanted to order foods and drinks and even brought us complementary fresh coconut juice to enjoy in the pool. They also arranged both transfers for us. The staff and especially Mr. Jeewa were exceptionally nice. Everything was clean and we would definitely come back to this paradise. Thank you for everything!

The food was a little expensive compared to outside prices but still ok.

The property is a lot bigger than I realised, (the actually grounds themself). The gardens and design is very beautiful and the beach is one of the most beautiful and quiet beaches I’ve ever seen! We stayed in the private villa and it was as described, it is a standard villa but clean and comfortable for our one night stay before the yala safari. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful too. We had lunch, breakfast and dinner here across the two days and it was very good! Just be aware if you stay here there isn’t anything close within walking distance, but we knew this and it was fine as we were only staying the night, but I’m sure getting transport would be no problem! Thanks for a great stay!

Friendly staff, amazing location right on the beach and within easy access of Yala National Park for the safari. We saw a turtle giving birth right outside the hotel, on the beach, which was amazing. The setting is really pretty. Lots of wildlife around - monkeys, parrots, kittens, cats, dogs and turtles. Our private pool was really great - clean and the perfect temperature. Nice cocktails! Saw other comments saying there was an issue with WiFi but we didn’t experience that. We had an outdoor shower which was really fun!

The food took a very long time to arrive at the restaurant, especially for dinners and it wasn’t the best food we had in Sri Lanka. On the second day, our pool chairs were removed which meant we couldn’t sit there.

We stayed one night at Nikara Beach House so we could do a morning safari in Yala. Nikara is an really impressive, characterful place with lots of interesting features and artworks, a beautiful garden with lots of flowers, birds and squirrels and a spectacular swimming pool and access to a wild but beautiful beach. Our room was a separate and spacious apartment with it's own private plunge pool and sitting area which was a bonus, The food was good and the safari the hotel organised with excellent driver and guide Suranga was a real success for us as we were lucky enough to see a wonderful female leopard up really close for around 10 minutes just relaxing in the sun on a rock! You must get to Yala entrance as early as possible to get the best chance of a leopard spotting, we left our hotel at 4.30am. As well as the leopard we saw lots of elephants, a pair of Jackal, a huge Brown Fish Owl, herds of Spotted Deer, buffalo and many bird species, A truly wonderful place, and experience,

We loved the location -just by the beach! We stayed only for one night, but loved the tropical yard, the beach and the pool area. It was super relaxing after a day at the Safari in Yara. The staff was superfriendly and welcoming. The rooms and bathroom extended our expectations. So beautifully designed. Same with the hallways and lounge/restaurant area. We were mindblown by the beach, totally free from tourists and people, long white beaches you can only dream of! We would highly recommend to stay here! Especially after a trip to Yara.

Since it was the start of November which is low-season, they were really short on things to offer on the menu. It was ok for a day to only have a few alternatives, but would recommend them to rather have a shorter or updated menu, then to meet the customers with a lot of “no we don’t have”. Specially beeing so close to the sea, we would think they could offer sea food everyday.

very chill vibe and peaceful atmosphere, the staff are all amazing people, especially the chef! he’s passionated about cooking, using only organic ingredients, superb! and they do everything to fulfil your needs! the beach nearby is the cleanest we have been in Sri Lanka, very wild!

Nothing we don’t like, we extended another night!

Wow. We stayed at Nikara for 3 weeks. It was fabulous. The villa was exceptional as was the resort. We were looked after so well. The team went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and wanted. The owners were lovely and treated us like family. Excellent food. Excellent location and overall outstanding. It IS the best resort on the coast with beautiful gardens that lead to a quiet stunning beach. We met many people staying in other resorts and they all said that they wished they had booked at Nikara instead. If you want a quiet location with nearby safari's, beautiful food and superb staff to look after you, then just book. 10 stars. You won't be dissapointed. Thank you to everyone who looked after us.
