We had a wonderful stay at Amaranthe Bay. Our room was beautiful and very clean, with everything we needed including excellent AC, TV, coffee making facilities, sofa area, and lockable safe. The bathroom was large with a good shower, and we particularly loved our jacuzzi tub and balcony area overlooking the pool. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and helped with anything we needed. The pool area was beautiful and clean, and we loved the cocktails from the bar. We also enjoyed having massages at the spa. The hotel was a short walk to Trincomalee beach and great local restaurants.

The WiFi wasn't very good and we often struggled to connect. A curtain in front of the jacuzzi tub window would have also been useful as the net blinds meant the room got very light early. We also found the music played in the outdoor pool area not very relaxing or enjoyable (classical renditions of old pop songs on loop). Although the cocktails were great we weren't very impressed with the restaurant food so chose to eat out after a couple of visits.

It’s tranquility, it’s luxury, it’s staff, don’t have enough words for how much we loved this place but it was heaven. The view from our room was stunning, coconut forest with abundance of wildlife and eagles soaring above. The room itself was excellent. The food in the restaurant was class and I can’t thank the staff enough they all made our stay memorable.

Nothing…also may I add don’t be put off that it’s not on the ocean side because it’s little inlet from the ocean curves around the hotel so the views from the rooms and the stunning pool area are probably better than looking out to sea.

Free upgrade to Junior Suite with private Jacuzzi. Nice, spacious and clean room with good room facilities. Jacuzzi is very inviting to relax. Leafy surroundings and lake view. Very friendly staff. Al carte breakfast menu had varieties for a Western & SriLankan menu. Good location with eating places nearby.

No direct access to beach. Need more variety for buffet breakfast. Al carte menu items are reasonably priced however the final price is much more with taxes added. At times automated power panels in the room is very confusing.

I was ill during the whole stay so we only used room service which was excellent, as was the room which was huge with wonderful bed, a lounge area with tv and a balcony, so the best place to be ill! A short walk to the beach. A lovely swimming pool and attractive grounds. A quieter more authentic hotel than the upmarket western hotel up the road. I am looking forward to going again when I am in full health to fully appreciate everything the hotel and the area has to offer.

Great setting with beautiful rooms in a beautiful tropical garden. The staff goes to incredible lengths to make you feel at home. We got an upgrade for a small additional charge, the room with jacuzzi is very spacious and comfortable. With a beautiful view of the beautiful pool, the tropical garden and the river. The beautiful pool bar and the fantastic restaurant make the stay complete. After a biting incident with a monkey, we received maximum support from the staff who always advised us. They even went with us to the hospital and pharmacy, everyone showed a lot of interest and offered care and help. To ease the pain, we were pampered and spoiled extra. Unbelievable and never experienced before. We already thought it was a great place with very nice and service-oriented staff, but because of the way they supported us, they deserve a big 10+. Thanks again to the management and the entire team.

Beautiful resort! Amaranthe was the perfect piece of luxury we needed during our trip in Sri Lanka. The highlights were the buffet breakfast and beautiful pool. The rooms were well equipped and very comfortable. Really close to the beach strip and lovely places to eat! Can definitely recommend.

Nothing specific, this is a lovely place to stay if looking for some luxury. Only a couple of minor things that may be improved; A bit more music variety at the outdoor bar or opportunity to take requests for music might be good and one of the rooms we stayed in had a bit of an “off” smell in it. But apart from those things it was fantastic!

Nice, Spacious and comfortable room. Good restaurant for dining. The staff was very helpful and provided with all necessary details for nearby tourist activities, helped with first aid kit when I got injured,etc. The hotel also has tie-ups with local tour guides and provide tour options at considerable rates and their tour guides are top quality and speak good English. Had a lot of fun thanks to Amaranthe.

There is no direct beach access but there is a good beach just 5 minutes away. A direct beach access would have been like the utlimate cherry on top.

It’s a good spot for a short time relaxing in Trinco. The location is good, just some minutes walk to the beach and the centre. The pool is nice.

In total we wouldn’t say that this is a five star. The hotel looks older from some sides and the lobby with the reception and the restaurant seem old and cold. The breakfast was bad in our eyes. The prices for food and drinks are high in relation to other hotels. For food we went to all the local restaurants in Trinco.

The hotel sits on the banks of a river which is lovely for nature lovers. The pool is where we spent a lot of time. It’s clean and you can eat your meals and have drinks in your sun chairs. The food is delicious. Breakfast buffet each morning with lots of options and lunch and dinner a la carte style with quality food. The staff are particularly good. Thanks to Priwim, Mayuran, Sanujan, Karthik and Chataranga. They were kind and helpful. Karthik was very helpful and even gifted us a cake in celebration of our honeymoon. He was very sweet. Location is good for walking to the beach which has great restaurants and good swimming. You can also hire bicycles and tuk tuks. We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay.

Rooms are very spacious and very clean. The staffs are extremely friendly, specially the chef in the restaurant who is very welcoming with an extraordinary attitude. I love the reception area and welcome process. Rooms with direct access to the pool are great. The bar with the typical Sri lankan hut style amazing. My son had a very pleasant stay.

Only issue I faced is about the hotel key which was not working properly despite multiple time changing it. The driver cottage was charged 2500 LKR. Most of the other hotels don’t charge accommodations for driver. Also this is not a beach front hotel. Would have been amazing if it was beach front.
