We stayed at Dyke Rest, Trincomalee and it was a truly memorable experience. The location is unbeatable: right on the beach, with a stunning view and an authentic atmosphere that lets you fully enjoy the beauty of the place. The real highlight is the manager, Moses, who is incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile – he really made us feel at home. The rooms are not very big and cleanliness could be improved, but the charm of having the beach just a few steps away and the genuine hospitality easily make up for it. On top of that, the fair price makes it excellent value for money. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a simple, authentic stay enriched by Moses’s warm hospitality.

Superb location, right in the beach. Rustic and quiet. Out of the main town, away from the noise, and nestled with the local fishing boats. Kind and interested hosts.

We chose the room with the balcony and view and shared bathroom. It does overlook, and you cash virtually touch, the beach but the shared bathroom is only accessible by the stairs-cum-ladder and the bathroom (shower and toilet) is a sweat box with nowhere to hang a towel or clothes, and a challenge for anyone above six foot! But you accept it as it’s a bargain and in a beautiful location.

**Moses was fantastic! We made a same-day booking and arrived at the location earlier than the official check-in time. The room wasn't ready (which was totally understandable), but Moses worked hard to try to get it done quickly, and even made us tea and coffee while we waited. Totally beyond what was expected. **The location, right on the beach, is fantastic. A super spot for an incredibly low price.

Nothing, really. I mean, we didn't have windows in our room -- but the rate was super-low, so we were not expecting anything. A huge bargain!

This place is magical. You are 10 metres from the sea on a quiet fishing beach. The top two rooms have the balcony overlooking the beach, where you can watch fishermen bringing in and casting nets at sunset and sunrise. Our host was so incredibly kind - he arranged for food to be delivered on our first night and nothing was too much trouble. The room itself was cool and just lovely to hear the waves at night. The bathroom is downstairs but that didn't bother us at all - it's perfect if you go for a morning swim, because you can jump straight in the shower! Absolutely recommend staying in this place if you want an authentic and Unforgettable experience. Thank you again 🥰

The location is amazing. The staff lovely. We truly enjoyed our staying at dyke rest. A movie atmosphere that makes you easily forget about your problems. Definitely recommend to anyone who loves to be surrounded by nice people in a stunning location. A small kitten (Kiki) and a quiet lovely dog will make your staying even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a 5star hotel experience this is not the place for you on the other hand, if you like a proper travel experience this is the perfect spot.

Dyke Rest provided us with a home away from home while completing our PADI diving training. Moses and his mum made sure our stay was comfortable with a family-style of hospitality, providing delicious breakfasts and the option of dinner, chatting with us on the terrace overlooking the beach. The resident dogs were also much appreciated for cuddles!

The facilities are quite barebone and a little out-dated (for example, a slowly leaking sink) but everything worked just fine, AC, etc. This was made up for by the hosts, food, and location, but it may be a little pricey, relatively, if you are after a beautiful room.

The location right on the beach is perfect. Being able to wake up and go swimming with this view is just amazing. The area is also further away from the super touristic noisy area, so we felt more in the “real” Sri Lankan side which was great Moises was a great host and was super accommodating and friendly

The rooms are in need of an update, and they are quite small. With backpacks we were ok but we would’ve struggled with suitcases

Very good value for money,the manager and staff went above and beyond to make sure I had everything needed and if there was anything they could do for me,nothing was any trouble.Beautiful balcony over looking the sea,sleeping with the waves crashing.Now if your after nightlife then your at the wrong end I’d Trincomalee,but if your looking for peaceful bliss with enough shops and restaurants nearby,this is your place.Be sure to book one of the 2 elevated huts with balcony.

Dyke Rest was the perfect spot for us in Trinco. We were going back and forth about whether we wanted to be in town or at Uppevelli or Nivalhi up the coast and we were so glad we chose here. It was everything we wanted. It was great to be able to walk around town and find things on our own- a wonderful bakery for breakfast and a place to buy beers to bring back to our terrace. @blue ocean water sports was right around the corner where we went for diving and a pigeon island trip. But the snorkeling out back of Dyke Rest was also excellent. We saw many of the same things that we saw on our boat excursions. the proprietors were also awesome and helpful. Moses brought us tea every morning - free of charge. And on our last night they cooked up the fresh fish, calamari and vegetables that we bought at the fish market that morning. Altogether paradise for us to be mostly autonomous and not have to rely on anyone else for resort prices, food or rides anywhere. We booked for three nights and stayed for 4.

At first we were a bit “shocked” that the, as advertised, external bathroom was actually downstairs. But then we quickly fell in love with our second floor balcony with table and chairs, ocean breeze and the sea mere steps from us. The room was small. Some hooks on the walls would make a tremendous difference, but the A/c was cold. We slept great and had amazing sunrises.

The host and his family are super friendly and helpful. They allowed us to check in earlier than expected and provided us with a lovely cup of coffee on arrival. We really got the feel of a home stay. The back of the property enters right onto the beach. The beach where the property is situated is private and private. Perfect for relaxation after busy days. We stayed for 3 nights and it was perfect for this length.

Room facilities slightly run down but not bad considering the price paid.
