I was a little sceptical at first but the hotel grew on me and I would recommend for a couple of nights in Dalawella area. It's in a great location on a beautiful beach in its own right, close to turtle beach and a lagoon where our kids could swim. Room was clean and a decent size, good balcony from which we could spot turtles, bathroom good size with a hot powerful shower cubicle. Swimming pool is set next to reception and is inside so doesn't have the sun to heat it - so come with that expectation - but it does work as a place to swim and cool down/freshen up out of the sun. Our kids enjoyed it. Outside area is shaded by natural trees and that worked very well for us - the sun is fierce and there is little shade on the beach so a private area outside the hotel is v welcome. Plus you can move your lounger into the sun if you want. Great selection of restaurants nearby which can be reached on foot via beach, lovely in an evening.

Small changes in communal areas would make a big difference and currently let it down. It needs a good clean (ledges on stairwell for example coated in dust, windows to streetside). Breakfast limited. Please, please stop charging extra for decent coffee at breakfast on a $120+ per night room - it's really poor form and not experienced elsewhere in Sri Lanka.

quiet location with a shaded beach area. The room I stayed in was quite spacious, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. There was ample room to move around, which I found to be a great plus, and a variety of chair options to choose from for relaxation. The only minor issue was that one of the IKEA chairs in the room was broken, but it didn't significantly impact my stay. The bedroom had two air conditioning units, and while the first one had a tendency to shut off unexpectedly, the staff was quick to respond and promptly switched the electrical over to the second unit. Once the AC was working correctly, the room became wonderfully comfortable, making my stay quite pleasant. The bathroom was another highlight, with a good shower and excellent water pressure. It's always a relief to have a reliable and refreshing shower during your travels. The hotel's location was quite convenient, being just a short distance from the Turtle Bay Area. I particularly appreciated the proximity of good pizza and Persian restaurants in the area, providing diverse dining options. If you're looking to explore the surroundings, I recommend taking the bus into Unawatuna instead of haggling over the overpriced tuk-tuks, which can save you some money and hassle.

wifi was poor in the rooms and we had connection issues. In terms of dining, the breakfast at Sayura Hotel was a bit different from the traditional buffet setup, but it still offered a variety of choices. Some guests mentioned it as an English breakfast, but I wouldn't exactly call it that since it lacked beans, potatoes, and the sausages were more like cheap hotdogs. Nonetheless, there were plenty of other options to choose from, and it was a decent start to the day.

The location right on the beach was perfect - a few steps around the bay to protected swimming behind the reef with turtles nudging you for a sea lettuce treat. Nearer the reef there were lots of fish, big and small. The semi indoor pool was clean and well maintained with change rooms in the hotel foyer. Best to have your own beach towels, as was the case almost all over the island. The rooms were spacious and well equipped, housekeeping on request without extra charge. The bathrooms were truly clean with toiletries supplied, including toothbrushes. Breakfast was very generous, attractively presented. We had dinner there one night - excellent meal. The staff were always professional, friendly and welcoming and a little issue of our own making was attended to quickly and helpfully.

Not a dislike - merely a note for anyone who cannot manage stairs at all. Check with the hotel when you book if that's your case. This is one of a few hotels that has a lift however, unavoidably, the lift needed repairs while we were there. We were notified of this prior to our arrival on which our bags were whisked up the stairs for us. I was impressed that staff did not hang about looking for a tip, as often happens.

The location. The proximity of the beach from the property. Watching the turtles swim right up to our feet and feeding them seaweed. The gorgeous view from my room balcony. Waking up to that view.All of it was fabulous. The staff were very helpful & super courteous. A special mention of Tharusha from the reception is necessary here. Great pointers & tips from him abt the area.

There were a couple of things I noticed that are easy fixes. Plug sockets near the bed side were missing. The ones near the mirror weren't working that well. All the light & fan switches are near the balcony and not practical. And the shampoo, body wash dispensers were nowhere near the shower. Totally impractical. They should be in the shower cubicle.

This is a little gem - about 6 km outside Galle. The hotel is clean and comfortable and right on the beach. The restaurant has a really good menu and potentially some great views out to sea. The staff were friendly and the food was well presented. Our room was large and comfortable, again with views out to sea where we could watch the turtles coming in to feed on the seaweed clinging to the rocks outside. It was good value for money

There was nothing we did not like, but we did make a number of recommendations to the owner to help her make much better use of the restaurant! We hope that she takes up some of them - as we say, she is sitting on a gold mine if she changes a few things and makes the restaurant more accessible to non-residents!

Amazing location on the sand. It was good that it was about 100 metres from the safe swimming/turtle area as it was quieter in front of the hotel. Amazing balcony views. Staff were all so friendly and helpful. Lots of nice places to eat and a small grocery store within a short walk, cheap and easy to get a tuktuk to unawatuna for a change of scene and tourist shops.

I found it strange that despite booking 10 months in advance our two rooms weren't next to each other. This wasn't very convenient when travelling as a family. Some bits of the hotel are a bit tired and in need of repair, but everything is clean and it's still decent value for money.

Great location - walk out the back door onto the beach. 5mins walk away is the beach/lagoon area where you get to see and feed the turtles. This is a fabulous experience and the reason we stayed here so for us this place was a perfect 10. A few people were touching or moving the turtles but generally people were being respectful. The turtles are free to leave - there are a large number we saw from our balcony that chose not to go into the lagoon with the people. This area of the coast is a bit different from surrounding areas, driving down the road all you see are big walls with the hotels behind. There are few restaurants or shops on the road. But there are 2 or 3 good places to eat in the nearby hotels which you can access via the beach. Rooms were nice. Balcony views were wonderful.

Room was ready before check in! The view of the beach & sea is incredible & exactly what we had hoped it would be after 2 weeks of travelling the island. There was enough sun loungers which was lovely & beach towels provided. The sunsets

There was no breakfast choice, although what was given was nice. On the 2nd morning i asked for no sausage ( as i dont like to waste food & did not eat this the previous day). They took off the bacon as well so left with only egg. It is not actually in Unawatuna so had to get a tuk tuk to find places to eat in the evening.

I really liked the location and the staff were excellent. It is right at a clean surf beach with the ocean rock pool 50 mtrs down the beach great for snorkeling and viewing the giant turtles and sub-tropical fish. I thought the breakfasts were quite good. I had a traditional Sri Lankan meal in the restaurant and it was equally the best meal I had in the district.

I wish I could get a 2nd room key so I could charge my iPad and phone. Only a small matter .

The ocean view from the rooms is so beautiful, the beach is great too either way turtle beach just 30 seconds down the beach where you can swim away from the waves/ rocks.

The breakfast could be better, the place was in construction/no lift when we booked without warning before hand and no discount. It would be good if they had a bar down at the beach, you have to go to the next door places if you want anything during the day time. There’s not too many restaurants in the area, but location is perfect for the beach.
