The main complex is almost like an art gallery inside, beautiful furniture and objects d'art strewn everywhere. How lovely to walk through it in the evening. The situation could hardly be bettered, separate buildings spread out over a park-like landscpe, own bathing area in the centre of lovely Saltsjöbaden. Right in front of the door is the station, currently out-of-operation but there is a bus which takes you to central Stockholm (Slussen) in 35 minutes: Good to know: the 24-hour ticket (online, big reduction for pensioners) is also valid on most of the ferry connections. If you are too lazy to buy a ticket online, you can simply touch your credit card to buy a one-way trip. If you want to go to Stockholm and you are prepared to take the bus every day, this is the place to stay. Parking was included during my stay. Breakfast offered just about everything that you could want. The restaurant is beautifully designed and furnished, with a great sea view, and you can also breakfast or dine outside. The staff are universally friendly.

The rooms are small - but so what? I didn't go there to sit in my room and if you need a space for writing, there are loads of places to sit comfortably, indoors or out - this is mainly a seminar hotel. Not too sure about the food: the only offer in the main restaurant was an all-in barbecue buffet. But there is a place for lunch, and also a cocktail bar where snacks can be had in the evening. A rather curious 'complaint': the place was exceptionally quiet, even though I was there in the main holiday season, and although the price was good. A bit more buzz would have beeen okay. But maybe you like it quiet?

The breakfast was included but not too good, the choice was amazing, but we the scrambled eggs way too watery , the bacon was baked too long. And the coffee was somewhat poor. I sound spoiled I guess I am a little spoiled (especially my teenage children who have been in many hotels so they can compare well) I loved the granola with yoghurt, but hey that recipe can never fail The view of the lake, the train station so nearby , Saltsjobaden is pretty. It was all good!!

I spent two relaxing days at Vår Gård in Saltsjöbaden and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, the surroundings beautiful, and it was lovely to have a daily swim. Staff were friendly and service-minded, and the food and wine were excellent. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with great food, service, and a relaxed vibe.

The room was a bit small and warm without AC, and the bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied before check-in. A kettle and glasses in the room would have been nice. But the bed was very comfortable, and the drawbacks were small things compared to the overall experience. Particularly since I spent most of my time outdoors or in the communal areas of the hotel, all with a lovely view.

Stunning views and peaceful location. Really nice breakfast room with option to sit outside on terrace. The sauna and beach area were lovely. Very relaxing to lay on the wooden loungers by the water in the sunshine and to walk around the little forest island. The breakfast was excellent. Bed was comfy. Lots of nice areas to sit and chill.

Had to pay extra to use the sauna. The room was pretty basic. Would have been nice to have tea and coffee facilities but they did lend me a kettle. Not much to do in the area if the weather is bad.

Location!! Service, atmosphere. Sauna + swim is excellent. Nice area to bike, run, walk, swim, sup etc. Rooms are not very special but have everything you need and you can use all outside and inside facilities to enjoy your stay, which is excellent. Breakfast is very good too. And in 20 minutes with taxi or 45 with bus you’re in the center of Stockholm.

Taxi via reception was more than double the costs of an Uber. Scrambled eggs weren’t really eggs (as in 90% of the hotels these days…). And the corridors to the rooms are very dark, but spooky. White/light would be better.

Location, breakfast and property grounds . Views were amazing and area was beautiful and nice to walk around.

Room was very warm. Could not open windows to cool off room while we were out because it was ground floor so not secure to leave open. We asked for a fan and were told they didn't have any (they did check so I assume they ran out). Room was small and not very private as we were on ground floor and there were walking paths by the windows.

The location never stopped surprising us. The artwork in the main building was an unexpected treat. The upstairs bar made me double check what we had actually paid for the stay because the decor and architecture was so luxurious - fit for a queen! The outdoor space with kayaks and bicycles were a lovely optional extra. There were deer in the forest and the sunsets (that last for hours in spring) over the water were incredible. The beds were lovely and floofy and the additional lounge area was wonderful to expand into after our smaller Stockholm hotels. The staff were also super chatty and gave us a lot of their time which we enjoyed immensely. There is also a parking lot outside where we could recharge our rental vehicle with an app to pay for the charge. We had a wonderful time and wish we had stayed there longer. We stayed for 2 nights, checked out and stayed for most of the day at the restaurant over looking the water and chatting.

An affordable ($50) uber drive from Stockholm, Var Gard was a world away. It felt like a place that primarily Swedes visit on repeat annual vacations, reminded me of small towns on the coast of Maine. The views were sublime.

The ice cream stand could have been open! Also, from the photos i saw online i had the mistaken impression that the cute little structure on the dock was the sauna, it is not.

The place was gorgeous in winter. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly. The bar was beautiful and it had a nice atmosphere.

We had dinner at one of the restaurants but the staff didn’t seem fully trained on how to serve drinks. Additionally, It would be good to add one or two more vegetarian options to the menu. From the room, I struggled with the shower as The shower glass didn’t fully cover the shower space and there was water all over the place which made it a bit messy and uncomfortable.

All the staff we talked to were super helpful and kind! The landscape was just amazing and I appreciated the activity’s that were available! We used the sauna, paddle boards, ping pong tables and garden games and it was so much fun!

The restaurant was a bit slow, we had to wait a long time for the food and the food was just okay. And in the breakfast buffet we were sad there was no sweet option (pancakes, muffins or something like that)
