Overall it was fine. The common areas are truly GREAT, very modern, cosy, spacious, super clean, everything you could wish for. The location is perfect as well BUT the room and beds could have been more comfy. The bunk beds have curtains but the light was on 24/7 and the beds make noise. There is no tablet or nothing so you have to put your belongings directly on the bed, not so convenient. Plus half the dorms have windows on the street so you hear noises from the streets (motorbikes...etc). It wasn't my best nights in Taiwan. If you have the opportunity, go for capsules, they offer way privacy and sleep.

This might be my favorite hostel I’ve stayed at. It was so clean and the staff cared a lot about your stay and were so friendly. The common areas were great, very modern but also cozy. Very conveniently located, close to the Kaohsiung Train Station and night market, and many things to do nearby. Convenient access to the MRT as well.

There were only small lockers in the rooms, basically for your valuables. But I didn’t feel like I needed them at all during my time here! Also made the rooms much quieter!

Ahiruyah is situated near a lot of the essential stuff - the Liouhe night market, the Formosa MRT station (and the Dome of Light), breakfast store across the street, PX Mart where we can buy groceries to bring home, and a 7/11 on the ground floor. As for the entire hotel experience, I could say that it was a pleasant stay. I read somewhere that the receptionists were poker-faced, but that was not the case in my experience. They were very smiling and helpful, they would recommend places to see and things to do if you ask them. Ann and Julianne, the two receptionists who I met during my stay, would encourage me to explore more of Kaohsiung and they were nice no matter how loud guests sometimes get.

Maybe the toilet, for it has no bidet. But other than that, everything was really really good.

Perfect location between two subway lines and next to a night market. Fantastic staff - very helpful and friendly. Super clean! The A\C worked really well in the female dorm I was in Cozy atmosphere and comfortable public spaces

The bed was so uncomfortable I had a hard time sleeping. The mattress is rock hard. It's like sleeping on the floor. Also, the showers weren't comfortable since there was no separate area to dry off and keep your clothes and other stuff dry while showering. Lastly, this definitely is not a social hostel, if you are a western solo traveler looking for company you will have to really work hard to find it.

Location: very close to the metro. Easy to get around town. Lots of night markets and restaurants around the area and by metro. Great breakfast and bubble tea stores around the block. Ambience: Good vibes!! Lots of people there from the West/English fluent. It had a really good vibe for hanging out in the hostel (AC inside the lounge area). Met some good friends. Cleanliness: 10/10 Note that the mattresses have bedbug-suspicious stains. However, the staff told me they do treatment cleanings every 2 weeks. Furthermore, nobody has reported bedbugs and I met two people who have been staying at that hostel (digital nomads) for 9+ months. They wouldn't have stayed at the hostel for 9+ months if there were bedbugs. So rest assured it's very clean. Facilities: The lockers were okay. They were small and could only fit valuables, not a suitcase carry-on or Herschel backpack. It's only big enough to hold a big bowl of noodles. However, no one stole anything and I can confidently say that the hostel is pretty safe.

Smell: There IS an issue with people smelling bad and drying their clothes in the dormitory rooms with minimal ventilation. Just kindly ask them to move the clothes and towels outside on the patio. If there is pushback, ask the staff to handle it because there is an official policy from Ahiruyah for guests to dry clothes outside dorm rooms.

Nice clean, large enough, and modern hostel. Location is good - short 5-10 min walk from Formosa Boulevard MRT station which you can go to Zuoying High Speed Rail station from. Very close short 5-10 min walk to Liouhe Tourist Night Market. Lots of other good food options nearby. Has a large well equipped kitchen/social area and another small area with sofas. Free hot/cold water/teas/coffee (seems standard with any decent Taiwan hostel I stayed at). Code operated room door. Room has decent sized code operated locker large enough to store small backpack and other items (not large backpack or suitcase). Separate men's/women's bathrooms. Has coin operated laundry machine (50 NTD), and coin operated dryer machine (didn't use). You can leave luggage after check out until 7pm (they have a dedicated area near reception, but at your own risk obviously). Very friendly (and cute) reception lady :). Only stayed one night but could have easily stayed longer. Would recommend!

I stayed in room 2A, the only issue I had was that there was a weird funky and unpleasant smell in this room, very evident as soon as you enter. I'm not sure if it was a problem with the room itself, or due to the hygiene of other people in the room.

This is my second time staying at Ahiruyah, and I’m even more impressed than before! The hostel is exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The common area strikes the perfect balance—it’s a great place to socialize, yet there are also cozy spots to relax with a book or enjoy a movie in peace. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from the train station, with plenty of transportation options to explore Kaohsiung easily. I’m already looking forward to returning one day!

This was one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed in and for a decent price in Taiwan. The beds were comfy, everything was clean, a lot of attention to detail. I debated staying longer just to stay here longer. It’s like a hotel. There is computers to use, kitchen facilities, separate bathrooms with little things as needed. They did only have a tiny towel so keep that in mind. It’s close to Liuhe market and the best potsticker/dumpling spot is across the street. Highly recommend!

The location is really good, close to the main station, two metro lines and a night market. Staff was very friendly. Nice communal areas. Everything was very clean. Only hostel in Taipei so far that had a bit of a social vibe. I liked that the women's bathrooms are separate from the men's. Laundromat also worked very well.

My single room was facing a noisy street and it was a bit loud at night. The mattress is very hard.

Lounge, kitchen and common areas are super comfy. It's all extremely clean and well mantained. People at the front desk make a real effort to make themselves useful and be helpful. Quiet and peaceful, ideal for a good rest. Good pillows, beds are big and comfortable enough. Showers are designed so the water doesn't flood the whole bathroom. Strong stream of hot water. Comfy couches everywhere in the common areas. Free water, tea and coffee. Towel is provided. Location couldn't be more central, really close to Formosa Boulevard MRT station.

The towel is too small, at least for me, more like a small hand towel. Some beds make creaking noises when you turn on your other side. Lockers too small to stuff a backpack, just a few valuables.
