Immaculate, spacious rooms. Quietness Special mention to ZamZam and Catherine at the restaurant. Genuine people and very professional. Getrude, the manager. Remembered every guests' names. Being allowed the use of an ironing table all week. Breakfast was varied, plentiful and delicious.

Cold shower water every day. Although a 30 mins walk to the beach, the hotel is fairly isolated as far as local restaurants are concerned with only one local premises close by. Hotel Taxi failed to turn up on time after my arrival at the airport. Had to book a local one. Tiny, cramped gym but was ok if nobody else was using it at the same time. With an early departure to the airport on Saturday morning, I booked a airport shuttle through the hotel on Wednesday morning. I was assured everything was booked. On Friday evening I checked again and was it was booked.and the reception showed me where it had been written. On Saturday morning, there was no taxi and the hotel had to find an alternative. .

The property is clean and the staff attentive. It is located close to the place that o needed to go every day but it is also close to upmarket areas such as Slipway.

The food in the local restaurant became monotonous after a couple of days. Occasionally, there were problems with hot water in the bathroom, particularly late morning. I was also asked to chance my room for no apparent reason and the room turned out to be worse.

The hotel is quiet and has a beautiful and distinctive character. What I liked most was the staff's treatment, especially Sophia. As for the resident manager, Mr. Suman, he is wonderful and special. When he saw me sewing a waist bag, he insisted on helping me and sewing it for me in a special way. It is a wonderful gesture from a distinguished manager.

I arrived at 04:00 am, was greeted warmly. My room was, I think, upgraded to a split level/duplex with kitchenette. Which was very kind, but as an older man, who may have to get up in the night for the bathroom, having to navigate stairs when I was very tired was a slight (only) chore. And later I discovered they had a gym, which I would have tried, if I'd had time. Breakfast was included and was good.

I stayed for three days two nights (solo), and their service was amazing from the airport pick up driver Abbas really gave me a warm welcome to Tanzania and then Getrude Goodwill. She is a valuable asset to this hotel and to me. she really welcomed me to the hotel and to my room and the reception staff were truly wonderful. I communicated to Getrude from Whatsapp when I was in Malawi and she really was informative and she gave me all the details for whatever questions was asked so I was able to come fully prepared to Tanzania as it was my first time coming to Tanzania. The entire staff were really really helpful and welcoming and they really give us a positive vibe of how Tanzania is and how their people are and how they treat us and they are amazing services. Their food was delicious and well made, it’s a very peaceful environment and I stayed in the loft suite. Overall, the service was excellent and I would highly recommend anyone coming to Tanzania to stay in this hotel for as long as you wish because they would provide you a beautiful experience and excellent service from them and special. Thanks to the staff of Protea Hotel oyster bay,and special thanks to Getrude Goodwill, a real gem of a woman.

The staff were really friendly and understanding, the apartment was very comfortable and I'd stay for more except it was over my budget and there was no long stay discounted rate.

There was no long stay discounted rate , I was willing to go forward and complete my 6 weeks stay in Dar Es Salaam in the same hotel, but they didn't give me a good rate, and instead it was calculated with a higher rate than Booking.com

The staff team were 1st class, very attentive , caring, professional, and approachable . The team paid attention to the small details to ensure things went smoothly. The location was very safe and clean with good choices for meals at different times of the day the pricing of services was very good. Danny (a member of the front desk team )helped me to amend my booking at short notice on 2 occasions, which was excellent customer service he also proved me great value for money .

Almost everything was great. Large split level room with kitchette (free upgrade).Didn't use pool, but sat by it. Only found there was a gym at the last moment, didn't try

Unfortunately, it appears Tanzanians or most visitors are under 6 feet tall. I'm only a little over 6 ft, but my feet hung off the end of the, otherwise comfortable, bed.

I always enjoy coming back to this hotel - it is on spacious grounds yet well located in the city center. Various rooms, all large and well equipped. Good wifi, a very nice restaurant, a pool...

Beware of the crows which may try to get your food when sitting outside.
