I loved the central area, hammocks, and separate rooms and the feeling of being in a forest. Location, easy walk to restaurants, market and diving. My room was spacious and very traditional. Staff were able to arrange a taxi to my next destination. It felt very chilled and relaxed.

Unfortunately, as I was diving, I had to be up and out. I arrived at the meal area, and nothing was ready or set up. I had to wait 20 minutes, and consequently, once the food was served, I had to take it with me.

Casa Umoja in a nutshell: Paradise! Nungwi and its beaches are constantly enterntained and busy, there is a lot of commercial infrastructure, lights, music, people. But then, just 20 meters from the beach, there is a hidden Oasis you can truly call paradise, surrounded by flowers and plants, nice and quiet: Casa Umoja. It is a wonderful place with lots if shared spaces to use in the garden such as hammocks, couches, swings. There are calm and peaceful dogs that always keep you company and the breakfast is a fresh delight in the morning. We were also allowed a late check-out upon request to enjoy the reef during low tide one more time. Back in Nungwi, I would ONLY come back to this place, knowing its exist. We has a truly magical time.

We stayed for nights and didn’t have any housekeeping checking in during that time, although the house guides states “every other day” but I am sure if it would have bothered us and we’d have asked for it they’d have immediately looked after it.

Hotel is an oasis! You open the gates and it's like wow! It's so green nothing like the surroundings. Loved all the plants! Simone made us feel very welcome! We had a lovely bungalow with the terrasse, which I believe Simone has upgraded us as we were traveling with the 2 year old. I should also mention that were traveling in November which is I believe is not season there therefore breakfast which was included was not the greatest but as we didn't see many people that stayed in the hotel I presume you cannot expect the staff to prepare the same as you would on the busier days. In Zanzibar we have stayed in 4 different towns and the only place where we got bitten by mosquitos was Nungwi. I believe having those plants around attract more mosquitos but at the same time it has rained daily so maybe it was just a period and bad timing. Overall, great stay and would come back!

th stuff was super helpful, the location was brilliant

First we were given a room with windows and net but not glass. The breakfast is poor- eggs, pancakes and same fruit every morning. No milk, just some powdered one. When we asked for water, we were looked at strangely ..... No daily cleaning of the rooms, only if you ask. Our room was cleaned once for a week and ony because i asked for that :)

Simona and Mustafa are lovely hosts. Super supportive and welcoming. The place is an oasis, we had a wonderful time. Not much of fancy luxury but all you need to come down to earth and forget time. The dogs at the property are very cute and peaceful. It was heartwarming to see how good they are taken care of. Breakfast is really good.

I really loved my stay at Casa Umoja. The owners are wonderful and the husband is Zanzibari himself. Between the couple they speak an abundance of languages. The breakfast is included and it’s amazing-An assortment of fruit, bread, tea, coffee, omelette and more. It’s a great way to start your day while looking at the layers of rugged leaves and smooth sand. Some things to note: there is not A/C. At first this was a small issue to me, but this is typical here in Zanzibar and much of the world. I adjusted. The hot water is not always on during the mid-day. In short, this is not an all inclusive resort with resort amenities, but it’s also 1/5 the price. The service is similar to a mid-luxury hotel! The owners organized so much for me and a staff member even walked me to the doctor and waited with me when I wasn’t feeling well! I mean really grade A service! So I would stay again and in fact I went back up to Nungwi to be at Casa Umoja! Totally recommend for a peaceful vacation!

The owner was very helpful and friendly, the accomodation looked as expected. The room is spacious and the place is a great location. Only drawback was they have a bunch of dogs. They are cute but they can be excitable!

They have a lot of dogs on the site and my room was a bit dark.

Casa Umoja was exactly as described, I recognized the place thanks to the pictures published. the breakfast was rich in fruits and eggs were kindly prepared every morning. we enjoyed a very spacious room with 2 large beds (160cm each ) , with very good mattresses, and each under a very useful fan. The room was also equipped with air conditioning. We had a large terrace (table and two chairs) where we could sit for a while in the beautiful lush garden.

Leafy home stay environment close to the beach and little local shops. Spacious property boasting a yoga Shala and lots of relaxing places to chill. Locals outside are quite persistent about trying to sell you something. Good experience on Nungwi.

Casa Umoja was a lovely hotel. the room was ideal and the bed comfortable.I got wifi in my room although it is not gauranteed in other rooms.Simona ,the host, was helpful .

I struggled to find the hotel which is perhaps easier from the beach. Some of the local roads in poor condition and flooded .
