Picture a tranquil retreat where time slows, and every element is designed to indulge the senses. But what truly elevates this property is its people. Each and every staff member embodies the essence of genuine Thai hospitality – as if welcoming you into their own home, with warmth, grace, and an intuitive understanding of your every need. Often, as the day’s warmth lingered in the air, I found myself capturing the day’s reflections in my journal on the verandah of The Borneo House, a 130-year-old colonial gem, its French shutter doors wide open to the night. A perfectly chilled Hemingway Daiquiri in hand—sharp with white rum, fresh lime, and the faintest whisper of Heering—I leaned back, taking in the scent of aged teak and tropical blooms as a soft breeze stirred through the towering India Rubber trees. There’s something about this place—so rich in history, so effortlessly timeless—that makes the world slow down. And for a fleeting moment, as ink met paper, I could sense Hemingway himself in the corner—watching, absorbing, contemplating. As someone who has spent decades in luxury hospitality, I can confidently say that 137 Pillars House is in a league of its own. Ms. Arrowsmith, take a bow! the staff was amazing and so nice. Breakfast was great.

We should have asked about the cost of laundry before giving our clothes. We were charged about 6 times what we paid elsewhere. They gave us a discount after I found out, but I was not happy.

The rooms are spacious and luxurious. The service is exceptional, from a warm friendly and efficient team. The breakfast was delicious with a wide range of fruit, cheese, danishes, dumplings, noodles, and a terrific egg station. Dinner at Palette was amazing.

Getting into the hotel already feels like a time travel. The peace, the quietness, the beauty speak for itself. Hats off to the staff (especially the gardeners) and the manager of course. We had a lovely time!

Everything was perfect the Impeccable attention to detail. I love the rooms the rooms are comfortable and beautifully done. The service is fantastic every staff member goes above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect.

I can't think of anything I did not like about the resort.

Everything was perfect! Anne the GM was friendly and engaging and greeted every guest every single day! Staff anticipated our needs and remembered our preference, the command of English was good! All well trained!

I loved the decor, the small size and the staff were so helpful and super friendly. I would most def book again to stay here next time. It felt like home away from home

Th lighting in the room was not bright enough and the air con not always cool enough. It's a little too far from town for kids to walk to main attractions

The staff were friendly and always willing to help.
