From the moment I arrived at Rice Barn & Rooms, I knew I had found something special. Now after my second stay here, I can confidently say this place is a hidden gem! I chose Room 1 with a huge bed, high ceiling, plenty of space and a full bathroom with bath & separate shower. The quality of bed linen is luxurious along with quaint little touches of Thai culture throughout the room. The lush gardens are a sanctuary of peace, with quiet spots to relax, or simply soak in the tranquil surroundings. The sheep, ducks, birds, and the three friendly dogs adds a warm, homely touch—especially for animal lovers like me! The highlight so far has been enjoying the serene jungle atmosphere, a refreshing escape from Chiang Mai’s hustle and bustle, yet only a quick taxi ride away. This place truly feels like a home away from home. Can’t wait to experience more in the years ahead!

Beautiful grounds the accomodation is set in, there are cute animals like puppies, cats and ducks around which is lovely as well as wildlife like birds The room was comfortable, ensuite bathroom, TV with Apple TV box Communal areas great to relax in, nice pool as well Cooking facilities, laundry service and motorcycle rental available Nice area with some local coffee shops and casual restaurants available, not touristy so you can see the local life 711 walking distance, although crossing the main road can be a challenge and there are a lot of dogs around Grab for food or taxi is readily available though Some activities nearby like mini golf and waterpark

The listing's photos need updating as there wasn't a breakfast service available (but there's a coffee across the road) and the place looks a bit different as some photos are older and somethings have changed Next time we would rent a car to get around more easily

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Rice Barn and Rooms in Chiang Mai. Al & Nok were fabulous hosts, making me feel welcome from the moment we I arrived. The rooms were superb—clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. I was very grateful for the English teabags given to me by our host! The gardens were a serene oasis, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, and I can’t recommend this place highly enough. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with top-notch hospitality, this is the place to be. I would return in a heartbeat!

I would’ve been happy if breakfast was available

I was looking for an affordable place to stay while my air-con was being worked on. So it was only one night. It was like being out in a nature setting without leaving town. Very quiet. Not too far from restaurants and shopping in Hang Dong but quiet, peaceful and beautiful environment. The owners were very nice people. English is spoken here in case you are worried about language difficulty

Wasn’t there long enough to have a bad experience. But I can say I will be back for a long week, just to unwind.

The entire setup of the place was beautiful and cosy We stayed in the two storey house surrounded by garden, we were greeted by host that comes with their pet dogs, puppies, cats, ducks and they have sheep too. It is also in a convenient area with easy access to many places of interest like the Kad Farang Village night market on wed nights. Oh yes, it's 1 min drive to grand canyon water park and 4 mins drive to second wind and ranch mountain horse riding experience

There's only one toilet downstairs, oh well

Though I live in Thailand I needed somewhere close to a particular place I was visiting to save me having to get up and drive early in the morning. Rice Barn and Rooms fitted the bill perfectly - and the room I chose has a bath - ahh, such a treat! My stay was very brief as I arrived early evening and had to leave early the next morning but I was met by one of the owner's, Nok, who was absolutely charming and very helpful. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable.

We loved it here! So we stayed longer! Nok and Al are fantastic hosts who treated us like family. We even went out to lunch one day. We enjoyed cooking our own dinners. And it was easy to catch a Grab Taxi to go to the grocery at Kad Farang. There’s a great coffee shop across the street where we went for breakfast a couple times. They order food and someone brings it on a scooter: still piping hot. There’s also a small market a few houses down for snacks and noodles. So peaceful here. The swimming pool is nice and the grounds are beautiful. We kept discovering new statues and seating areas. This place is a definite highlight of our time in Chiang Mai. Thanks Al and Nok!

It’s a peaceful retreat in the country but still only ten minute drive to sites. What’s not to like?

The area is very large and very green, the host has a beautiful, calm garden with animals. We could use a fully equipped kitchen. The bed and especially the pillows were very comfortable. There was a fan and AC and both were working fine, the room was nicely furnished, there was a table with a chair, bedside tables, tv and tv table, and a big closet. The water was warm and the hairdryer was available. Drinking water, coffee and tea were available. There was a nice relaxing area near the pool. The host was very nice. The area around is calm and quiet, it's a country side. There is a little shop nearby where we could buy ingredients for our meals.

Everything looked worse than in the pictures when you looked at the details. In fact the rooms are quite used and some hidden areas like behind the toilet were rarely cleaned. For example the door of the shower was very hard to close because it was so used and rusty. We didn't like the musty smell in the room and especially in the closet. The kitchen was not very clean, when we came there were bugs coming out of the rubbish bin. Everything was a bit sticky or covered with dust. There was no washing machine but you could have your clothes washed and dried for 150 thb/3 kg. It's not easy to eat outside, there is only a poor bar nearby so we decided to cook for ourselves.

This place is a piece of paradise! It was such a green and serene and relaxed area and the rooms were tidy, clean and with good airconditioning and mattrass. The pool is cool and chill to hang out in. The owners are there to help out with whatever you need, giving lots of suggestions on things to do in the area and checking in with you if you feel slightly under the weather. It was also easy to rent a scooter from them. It was our home away from home. Thank you and we will be back!

The only thing I can think of is to have more sunbeds in the garden. :) But I'm sure this will come as the owners are working and busy every day with making the place even better than it already is!

A lovely place - we only stopped here for one night but wished we could have stayed longer. Clean and tidy bedroom and bathroom. Gorgeous decorations inside the room and bathroom. Beautiful surroundings. Peaceful. A very cute dog and other farm animals - which I loved. The host are incredibly friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back.

It’s on the outskirt of chiang mai (we purposely chose this area as was close to where we needed to go next) but if you want to be nearer to the centre, you will have to be happy to pay for a grab each time.
