Everything. Everything was perfect for a week-long stay. If you are looking for a generic five-star luxury hotel that could be anywhere in the world, pay thousands for Pimalai down the road. If you are looking for peace, quiet, a stunning beach, in an authentic, relaxing resort run by the most friendly, attentive staff you could wish for... this is the place. We visited in April and *still* daydream about that walk down through the trees, past the pool, to the beach. Just to address some of the themes among the negative reviews: A) There are minor parts of the resort that could do with a little bit of renovation, but nothing at all that even remotely affected our stay. B) The location is more remote than most resorts, but this simply made the holiday 100 times better. The north end of the island is congested with resorts, quite busy and, in places, a bit tacky. However, the south end of the island where La Laanta is based is beautifully peaceful, the food at the resort is excellent (we ate there daily and loved it) and most activities like scuba diving and boat trips send a free car to shuttle you around the island anyway. The La Laanta staff even dropped up off at the next bay for free one day. La Laanta is authentic, beautiful and we'd not hesitate recommending it to anyone. To the staff, thank you *so* much – you are all amazing. Hopefully we'll be back some day!

We stayed 4 nights and I loved everything about the hotel. The food was amazing. The pool and beach were very nice. The owners arranged transportation for free to and from the La Lanta festival on the other side of the island.

The only negative was that because the hotel is remote, the drive from the ferry pier was expensive upon arrival and the drive to the Krabi airport was expensive upon departure.

Extraordinary location / beach area; wonderful and relaxing views. Perfect for getting away from crowds.

Sadly, the staff; Bar area personnel: 90 % of the time on their phone and relaxing on their own time like no one was there. Disregarding of their duties. Extraordinary exceptional; Tik the Bar / restaurant manager. He made the whole experience memorable. Thank you everyone. Will be coming back next year. Hopefully next year things will be a bit different. ( service staff )

We were specifically looking for such accommodation. Away from the crowds, calm, quiet, seaside, only resort guests use the beach. Private loungers, pool, restaurant are available to guests. The staff is kind and helpful. The nearby national park is beautiful, you can go hiking, a real jungle. You can pay for various boat tours with pick up and drop off at the accommodation. I recommend it to everyone who is looking for a quiet place away from the crowds.

The bed in the bungalow is not designed for guests. You can only climb into the bunk bed from the end of the bed.

This is paradise! I loved everything about my stay. The room was stylishly decorated (polished wooden floors, traditional mirrors and cushions) and had a comfortable bed and lovely private terrace. The gardens and pool area are beautifully designed. Best of all, the hotel is right on the beach! The beach is very large and peaceful, with jungle behind & great swimming/snorkelling. The breakfast was excellent and served on a terrace with fabulous views. The staff were unobtrusive but efficient, helping with transfers etc. The hotel is close to the national park, which has a pretty beach and an excellent nature trail.

The bathroom could be updated, particularly the shower. I appreciated the large mosquito net for the bed, but it had several holes in.

Overall vibe was truly idyllic. Hard to explain but priceless. We will never forget. Beach was superb - few people, wide expanse of white sand and turquoise water, marine life, coral, perfect for relaxing or swimming. Restaurant and bar were fantastic. Staff were consistently excellent. Loved that they rented scooters. No disruptive noise of any kind, any time of day or night. Gentle waves and twinkling lights. Good breakfast.

Water pressure was poor in our cabin - minor but surprising given the price. Location is far from everything - be sure you’re comfortable with that. Nothing walkable from resort, 5 minute scooter to closest restaurant and tiny minimart. 25 minutes to nearest interesting shops. Taxis take a few minutes to arrive. It doesn’t look that far out on the map, but the road is hilly and winding. If you mostly want to lounge and sunbathe and read and swim though, it’s absolutely perfect.

The hotel's secluded location on this dream beach makes it something very special. It is peaceful and you can always find a quiet spot.

The price-performance ratio does not match the renovation status of the hotel. It is crumbling in every corner and you can tell that nothing has been done for years. Unfortunately, the cleanliness also leaves a lot to be desired. The cleaning staff are in the bungalow for a maximum of 3 minutes a day - and you can tell. The breakfast was the worst we've ever had in this category in Thailand: uninspired and very basic. The coffee in particular has a lot of potential for improvement.

Great place to escape (very isolated and middle of nowhere which is what we wanted!). Would recommend booking the pick up / return taxi to the pier via the hotel as they’re great and grab didn’t seem to be a thing there. Main pro of the property is that the food was amazing (which is a huge factor as there is nothing else particularly around) and the beach was super lovely and quiet. Downside of the property is that it is quite tired (doesn’t look as nice as the pics!) and it wasn’t super clean (e.g. stained sheets and the little shallow pool was green). The main pool was perfect and looked after well so it didn’t particularly matter to us, but I imagine would be annoying if you had kids. Wildlife there was also very cool! Monkeys everywhere, friendly dogs who seem to live at or near the hotel and cows roaming free too… quite an experience!

The location is unbeatable, it’s right by one of the best beaches in Koh Lanta. The staff is kind and attentive and made us feel like family, but also very hands off, they’ll take good care of you without being too intrusive. The resort has everything you need to be self sufficient, including a restaurant and scooter rental, and a few basic amenities available for sale/rental at the reception. Be mindful that the nearest village is around 15-20 minutes by car/scooter, but chances are you will not want to go elsewhere during your stay because the beach and resort are beautiful. There is literally no night life as you’re right at the edge of the forest( it’s the last resort south on the island) but for us this was part of the beauty of our stay. We rented a scooter at the resort and drove to the nearby national park (only 10 minutes away). The room was cleaned daily and was comfortable.

The fact that the mattress was placed directly on the floor might be uncomfortable to someone. The restaurant has quite a wide selection of thai choices and there is also a small western selection. I didn’t feel well for a few days after dining there on my first night but maybe I was just unlucky on one occasion.

The location is quiet and peaceful with a beautiful beach. ( There is a rough track to the resort from the road ) The resort is small so everything is close and not too much walking. The food is fantastic and a great choice and price . The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and go out of their way to help you . Noyi was amazing.

We stayed in a Horizon Gaze room it was clean but the shower area does need an upgrade. We would stay in one of the other villas next time as we definitely plan to return.
