Great location near the train station and easy walking to the castle. Handy lockers that we could use on arrival since we arrived before check in time, so we could then explore Himeji without having to haul our luggage around. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Complimentary breakfast was useful for an early start the next morning.

No major problems, but related to the benefit of being close to the train station (and therefore not a total negative) is the fact you can hear the trains nearby - so bring some earplugs if you're easily woken (they start around 5.30 am, possibly earlier)!

Toyoko hotel was a typical sized Japanese hotel. We rented two rooms to host four people. The check in process was via consul, but the staff were there to help keep the check in process going. The hotel is very close to the Himeji station (5-8 minute walk) and a 15 minute walk from the Himeji castle. We were lucky enough to be there for the cherry blossoms and the associated festival. We found the included breakfast to be robust offering mostly Japanese fair, but they had pastries and some other options Western like options including eggs (rolled in a Japanese fashion) and sausages. The breakfast was buffet style and the cooks on site were very friendly. I noted that foreigners were the minority at the breakfast, and I got the sense that this hotel chain is popular with Japanese business people. We did find the beds to be on the hard side and on the uncomfortable side for those with hips. However, I would definitely book with them again.

The hotel is exactly as described: it has everything you might need when staying in Himeji. My highlights: Location: The location is fab, only about 7 mins walk from the station and surrounded by small, authentic Japanese restaurants and shops. It's a 25 minute walk to Himeji castle and Art Museum. Breakfast: The included breakfast is great (you need to be up early for it though), and has a wide range of Japanese (rice, tofu/meat burgers, miso soup, salmon, salads) and Western (pastries, sausages, juices) foods. They also have bento boxes that you can pack food into if you want to take the breakfast to go or eat it in your room. Price: It's a super reasonable price for great facilities. Room: Clean, bright, well-equipped (TV, fridge, wifi, reading lamps, hangers, unit bathroom, kettle etc.) and the bed was comfortable. Staff: The staff are friendly and helpful. Check in/out: It's all automated, you can use the machines which I found convenient. Luggage: They'll keep your luggage too, which made my last day much easier.

As always with Toyoko Inn, the breakfast is top notch. This location is walking distance to Himeji castle, one of the very few castles from feudal/ Tokugawa Shogunate period to survive 1945; cool castle and Kokoen gardens has the most impressive Koi collection.

The Automotive industry mandated attack on bicycles gets old when the personnel immediately rush out to tell you not to park in front of the building when checking in!

Both rooms we had where next to each other. Very warm staff. Washer and dryer, prepare your 100Yens. At 15 minutes from the magnificient Castle, at 2 minutes from restaurants, 10 minutes from station. Don't forget to observe the manhole covers. I wished to stay longer to visit the city of Himeji.

We bothered the staff more than one to get the necessary cash for washing machine and dryer. Kindly, they always gave us what we needed. We could get double keys for each room. However, to distinguish them was a bit of a trick. Really, nothing serious.

Twin Room for 2 nights. The room was a standard twin room, big enough as we had no big luggage. Beds were very firm. Breakfast was good, of course japanese style. Not many amenities in the room, but everything you might need is available at front desk. Locaton is good, just a short walk from the station. Be aware that there are two Toyoko Inns on every side of the station.

Room, breakfast, view, convenient location next to the Himeji station and close to Himeji Castle and a bus stop to Engyoji. Very kind staff and great overall experience.

The passing train can be heard even on 13th floor, but it wasn't something that would bother me too much. But consider it if you want to make a reservation here.

We separated the family of 4 to 2 rooms so we could stretch out. There was plenty of space, the room was clean and the view was spectacular! We enjoyed sitting by the window watching the trains, the city lights and the storm come across. It was the perfect end to a big day at the castle and gardens.

The check in process was supposed to be automated, but they couldn't find our booking at first and several staff had to help manually check us in though the system. It would have been quicker to check in the normal way.

We enjoyed seeing the trains outside our high floor room. Fortunately the sound proofing was quite good, so we were not bothered by noise. The staff was great, very friendly and helpful! The buffet breakfast included a wide variety of Japanese dishes. It was nice to have a large bed. Easy walk to the castle.
